DIY Project - Twisted Wire Stems

2026 03 02 Twisting Process

2026 03 02 Bouquet Wire Stems

I needed wire to support my fabric flowers and I decided to use what I had.

I used 24 gauge gold wire and chose 4 strands twisted together.

The hole at the end is handy to attach the flower easily.

I will have to re evaluate the next set of wire and maybe make them a bit stiffer.

These ended up being about 18 inches long.

They were used in bouquets and were twisted on a bamboo skewer inside the bottle so much less wire from the bottle to the flower thus less problems.

2026 04 09 - Wire Stems for Single Flowers

I decided these stems would be about 12" long.  I determined that 27 inch lengths fold in half would work.  The 27 inch length is folded in half around a skewer to create the eye at the end of the stem.

These measure between 12-13 inches after twisting.

I found nice colored wire in the 26 gauge in the stash and decided to try those.

Too thin at 6 strands.

I put hot glue on the pointy end to ensure no harm to the one using the flower.
