I am still working with my favorite colors. I felt the middle of the circle needed something else.

I decided to add 2 squares of white stitching to the center.  They were supposed to be less regular than they turned out to be. 

I then added a star of white stitching in the middle of the squares.  I have a really hard time making thing irregular.  

You can see that I decided to finish the seams along the 1 inch border.  I think I will be assembling these pieces with stashing with a backing fabric to hind all the stitching when all the pieces are done.  

Cards - Charity

Three more cards for IWin.

The designer paper is Stampin Up Painted Blooms. Nice watercolor design.

I chose SU Lucky Limeade A2 card base for this card.  I added a piece of DSP trimmed to leave a small border.

I adhered the glitter butterfly to 100lb card stock then cut the oval with the Creative Memories cutter.  I added a border of Thalo Blue watercolor pencil then brushed it with water brush.

I created a greeting accent with a Modern Label in blue and taped a Word Window greeting to it.  

I adhered the oval accent to the card front then added the greeting with 3D foam tape.

This card base is SU Summer Sun in the A2 size.

A layer of floral designer paper adhered to the card front.

I adhered the silver glitter butterfly sticker to a piece of vellum trimmed to leave a large border.

I added a Not Quite Navy card stock strip along the top attached with 3 silver brads. 

I added the round greeting in the top right hand corner with 3D foam tape.

On this card the A2 card base is Always Artichoke.

Trimmed another piece of designer paper to leave a small border.

I adhered the butterfly sticker to a piece of Regal Rose card stock then trimmed it with the CM oval cutter.

I added an Always Artichoke mini brad to the head of the butterfly.

The greeting is a combination of a Modern Label Punchie and a Wordl Window greeting.

Cards - Half Circles

I continue to make cards for friends and family.

The half circle card is a very versatile layout which I have used many times.

I chose some blue watercolor designer paper and cut the 12x12 in 4 pieces.  I cut 6" circles with my Creative Memories circle cutter.  Then those were cut in half on the paper cutter. This paper had a grid on the back that made this very easy.

I chose a grey textured A2 card base.  I adhered the half circle along the left hand side.  I added a royal blue card stock strip along the fold with double sided tape.  

I adhered a Martha Stewart Butterfly punchie in the same blue as the strip with Bling Zots.

Using a silver gel pen I added stitching marks along the circle edge, a fly path for the butterfly, and then dots on the the blue strip.

All cards get a white quarter sheet insert and white envelope.

With a sky blue A2 card stock base and dug in my designer paper stash leftovers and picked this one with paisleys and a good variety of colors.

I only had a smaller piece but by placing the circle guide along the edge half way across I was able to cut a half circle.

It was adhered with double sided tape along the left edge.  I added a dark brown grosgrain ribbon along the fold and knotted it towards the top of the card.

I created a flower accent with a large white silk flower, an aqua handmade paper flower then a small yellow one.  These are held together with a large brown brad.  Once the prongs were pushed apart I added a large Zot to adhere it to the card front.

Excellent.

I chose a leftover piece of the velvet paper with debossed flowers on it.  This feels more like fabric than paper so I decided to cut my half circle with scissors.  I traced the shape with my cutter template with a pencil then  followed the line to cut.  I them adhered it to the card front and trimmed the top and bottom edges.

I decided to pair it with a celery colored grosgrain ribbon.  I punched a hole in the fold of the card with my Stampin Up Slot punch.  I strung my ribbon through it and around the card front tying the knot on the front. 

I chose 2 gold punchies for my Stampin Up Five Petal flower.  I added a couple of silk flower bits in green and red.  

The gold flower sequin was added with a copper star tiny brad.  This accent is then adhered to the card front with a large Zot.

Again, with the other card base in the sky blue color.  

The designer paper half circle was adhered to the left hand side.  

I added a sky blue grosgrain ribbon along the left hand side. 

The flower accent was assembled with 3 different flowers - white silk, yellow silk and aqua handmade paper.  A white flower sequin and a light blue tiny brad.  Once assembled it was adhered to the card front with a large Zot.

I usually vary my card orientations but I was not paying attention and they are all portrait this session.

I chose royal blue textured cardstock for the card base for this card.

I added the blue watercolor designer paper half circle to the left hand side.

With the leftover from the 12x12 piece of dark blue card stock I cut a 1/2 inch strip and glue it to the left hand side along the fold.

I punched a large daisy flower from the blue card stock, added a blue silk flower and a white flower sequin all held together with a white star tiny brad.

Another set of cards for the box so I will have a wide varieyt of cards available when I put together a set of a friend.

Exchange Cards - August

Still working on Exchange Cards.

I used a layout I have used before.  I chose designer paper - Poplin - Indigo Bleu by PinkPaislee.  Each side offers different colors so I could make seperate cards. I chose teal, taupe, black and yellow card bases.

I cut the designer paper into 6x6 inches.  I then cut a circle with the large circle template with the red cutter.  These were cut in half with the paper cutter.

The half circle was placed on coordinating card bases.  With the black base I chose a black tiny brad to hold a taupe card stock punchie and 2 white silk flowers. 

I added a length of black grosgrain ribbon along the fold.  It was pulled through the card and tied in a knot on the front.  Ends were trimmed with scissors.

This is the yellow card base which coordinates with the other side of the designer paper.

.I chose a gold flower sequin, a turquoise Prima flower and a large white silk flower all held in place by a gold tiny brad. 

It was placed in the bottom right hand side of the half circle.

I added a length of turquoise grosgrain ribbon along the fold.  It was tied in a knot and the ends were trimmed with scissors.

These will be mailed right away.

While I was at it I made a couple of Thank You cards for Compassion House.

The damask side was used on this taupe card.

This is the teal card base with the circle side of the designer paper.  White grograin ribbon on the fold. Teal flower punchie with yellow flower and large white silk flower.  A SU Word Window greeting was added to both and was adhered with 3D foam tape.

Gift Box of All Occasion Cards - Donation

I made a gift box of all occasion cards for an upcoming charity event.

I included 12 cards with white envelopes with blank inserts.  A few have greetings but most can be used for any occasion.

I started with a black card base.  I cut a 6 inch circle with my Creative Memories Cutter.  I then cut the circle in half.  I aligned the straight edge to the right hand side of the card and adhered it to the card front.  I trimmed the top and bottom of the half circle to the card edge.  I used the wonderful music designer paper.

I added a black die cut flower and then a metallic Prima and a small black die cut one.  These are held in place with a mini gold brad.


This is a similar card with the straight edge on the left hand side this time.

I aligned 9 handmade paper flowers by Prima in warm tones along the curved edge.  I alternated the colors from tan, ivory and a rosy taupe color.

They are held in place with a tiny copper brad with a small black sequin in the center.

This card features polka dot designer paper by Fancy Pants Designs - Like Father Like Son - Stud Muffin.
I ripped the right hand side of the designer paper then adhered the straight side to the left hand side of a forest green card.  I added a piece of celery grosgrain ribbon wrapped around the card front and knotted it.

I created the greeting accent with a warm green scalloped circle, topped with a 1.25 circle of the same color as the card, then a 1" circle stamped greeting in chocolate brown.

With the wonderful colors in this designer paper several options were possible for the car color.  Here I have selected a terra cotta colored card base.  I ripped both edges then adhered it to the card front.  I wrapped a piece of celery grosgrain ribbon across the front of the card and taped the ends on the inside of the card.

I created an accent with a scallop circle, then a blue smooth circle then 2 layered butterflies.  I held these pieces together with a white tiny brad. The accent was adhered to the card front with 3D foam tape.

Very similar cards with the half circles on the left edge then the right hand side.

An accent was created with silk and handmade paper flowers.  This is  held in place with a green mini brad.

I added a grey knitting ribbon wrapped around the card front and knotted on the front.  I added a few more from my stash to make a total of 12.

Card Club - February - Gold Glitter Celebrate

I started with left over invites which featured polka dots in black, a couple of other colors and gold glitter.  I chose to cut it down leaving only the sentiment.  I used my Creative Memories cutter with the medium oval template and the red knife.
I found organza ribbon in ivory and gold which repeated the colors in the glitter layer.  I wrapped it around, knotted it to the front and trimmed the ends.
This was adhered to the black layer which was embossed with the Stampin Up Polka Dot Textured Impressions folder.  This layer leaves a small border on the warm taupe colored card which coordinated with some of the dots in the accent layer.

Welcome Card

We are welcoming a new family to our church this morning and I made a card for the occasion.

I started with a dark brown textured card.  I added a piece of red cotton ribbon across the card just above the middle and taped the ends to the inside.  I cut a medium blue scallop circle with Spellbinder Nestabilities then its corresponding smooth circle in white card stock.  These were adhered together to create the first layer.
I created a second smaller scallop circle with deep red and white.  I cut the greeting circle with my Creative Memories cutter because aligning SB Nestabilities is difficult.  I used a plastic canvas circle to align my paper piercing circle.  I glued the greeting to the red circle then added the handmade paper blue flower on the right side with a mini brad.  I then took a length of red cotton ribbon and created a flag off the bottom right hand side.  I matched these with card stock flags from the same card stock as the first scallop circle.
Both scallop circle elements were adhered with 3D foam tape.  Check out this post for the cool tool plastic canvas.

Decorative Paper - Set 2

For this card I used heavy decorative paper made with alcohol inks and Future floor wax. I cut the quarter sheet with the Creative Memories circle cutter using the largest circle and the red cutter.  I rubbed the edge with a blue ink pad to get rid of the white edge.  I adhered it along the left folded edge of the blue card and trimmed the top and bottom to the card edge.  I created a slit in the fold to pull through a length of white 1/4 grosgrain ribbon.  The ends were taped down on the inside of the card. I then cut a shorter piece which I tied onto the first piece and trimmed the ends with scissors. I added silk flowers one white, one blue on the bottom third of the card just inside the curve. These are held in place with a tiny white brad to which I added a small flower sequin.  A card ready for any occasion.

This card is shares the same layout as the first one.  This time the colors a quieter. Mauve and turquoise onto a white background. This one was photo paper so was much easier to cut.  The same white grosgrain ribbon across the top.  A white then a purple silk flower on the accent with the same flower sequin and tiny white brad. The card is turquoise.

This card again is set up in the landscape/wide orientation.  I used my large greeting layout with Rose Red for the printing.  I punched the Stampin Up 1.25" circles from the ink background paper and the larger 1 3/8" circles from a deep rose solid card stock which matched the greeting. I selected a light blue card with coordinated with the blue in the decorative paper circles.  I generally  adhere the right then left then just place the center one leaving even spacing.

Some More Cards from Decorative Paper

Some more cards from Decorative Paper I have made recently.  This is an alcohol ink background in reds, oranges and purples. 
I cut the greeting with Stampin Up Little Letters framelits from white card stock layer.  I then cut tropical flowers with the SU Flower Fair framelit set.  They remind me of hibiscus flowers.  I used the larger die to create the 2 holes in the white layer then cut the resulting positive shape with a smaller framelit.  I used a deep red marker with a fine nib to create a dot shadow around the hole.  Once the colored layer was adhered to the magenta purple card front, I adhered the white layer to the colored one.  I then adhered the 2nd white flowers in the center of the holes cut.

Another alcohol ink background. I sure love these vibrant colors.  I stamped the white layer with a SU Itty Bitty Background stamp in deep blue.  I cut the greeting with the Memory Box Grand Happy Birthday die from the decorative paper. I aligned the bottoms edges leaving a small border.  I cut the butterfly with the Sizzix Winged Beauties Thinlits set from the same paper. 

I cut the Acrylic Paint Decorative Paper with the Cricut and the Just Because Cards cartridge.  It was cut at 6".  It was adhered to the card front.  I tucked a color printed oval greeting in the lower crescent.  I layered several silk flowers starting with a large white with yellow ends, then a white medium then a blue purple one which repeats the colors in the DP.  I added some green silk leaves and held all these layers in place with a tiny white brad. 

This decorative paper was created with spritzing re-inker ink with a small mister spray bottle.  I selected two warm orange silk flowers, then a green handmade paper flower then then a white silk smaller flower all held in place with a blue mini brad.  I added a strip of coordinating strip of card stock across the bottom third of the card.  I then added a bright greeting coordinating with the colors in the DP.  I added a color printed oval greeting cut with the CM oval cutter.

This is the same decorative paper as the previous card. I cut it with the Sizzix Tim Holtz Vintage Cabinet Card die.  This layer was adhered to a golden yellow card.  I layered a large silk flower, then 3 from the Sizzix Flower Layers and Leaves die in warm green and golden yellow. I selected a golden yellow mini brad and placed a white sequin then the card stock flowers then the silk then onto the card front.  I designed the greeting, color printed in black on vellum then clear embossed it.

This is a layer of Acrylic Paint decorative paper in blues and purples.  I cut a flower from vellum to match the greeting.  The white felt flower was cut with the SU Blossom Party original die as well as the purple slim petal one.  I added a tiny iridescent sequin onto a tiny white sequin then layered the flowers.  This was adhered to the card front once the decorative paper had been glued to the card front of a purple card.  I designed the greetings and printed them on vellum. I adhered the vellum greeting to the card front with vellum adhesive.  It was printed in black and clear embossed.  They look great!

Card Club - Jalopy

This is the first card for Card Club today.  I cut some blue decorative paper with my Creative Memories is wavy cutter and then cut a colored layer leaving a small border.  This layer is glued to the card front on the right hand side. I cut the Jalopy with a Tim Holtz mover & shaper in black card stock.  The die cut is then mounted to the card front with 3D foam tape.  I color printed the greeting then punched it out with the Stampin Up Modern Label punch.  Then I punched another from black card stock.  The black one was cut in half lengthwise.  These halves are glued to the back of the greeting offset. This greeting is glued to the card front with 3D foam tape. I placed it horizontal over the curve of the blue piece.


I provided green, yellow, and orange solid layers in the kits I prepared for this class.

Challenge - Retro Clock

I printed the retro clock image on vellum with the greeting.  This clock has only the 4 quadrant numbers visible and just lines for the other numbers.  The angular hands are in keeping with the design.
I cut the vellum with my Creative Memories oval cutter then I cut the large black oval frame by using a step larger for the first cut then the same size as the vellum oval for the second cut creating the narrow frame.  I mounted these on a bright green card which I thinks keeps with the retro vibe.  The vellum is held in place with a tiny black brad in the center of the clock and vellum adhesive behind the greeting.

Christmas Thanks Yous

As my tradition, I made these cards from gift wrap which held one of my gifts this year!  I think this makes them more personal to the recipient.

I glued the paper to bond paper to give it enough stiffness to cut with my Creative Memories oval cutter.  I then cut the snowman out.  I selected black card stock.  I then embossed a piece of red card stock with the Cuttlebug Winter Snowflake large embossing folder.  I trimmed it to leave a small border and added satin green ribbon. The ribbon was cut to allow the ends to be brought to the back and taped down.  I then mounted the snowman oval over top with 3D foam tape.



On the card on the right I used caramel card stock with the same elements as the first.  I moved the ribbon joint to the left hand side.

It's important to remember to say Thank You to those you remembered you this year, whatever form that takes. Do it!

Card - Challenge - Color Combo

I made this card for color challenge.  I chose the dark green, the plum and the eggplant color. 
I selected a dark green card.  I cut a piece of designer paper with the right muted tones of plum and stamped it with a leaf in Handsome Hunter ink to create a background which connected to the green card. The stamp I bought at a garage sale so I have no credits as to designer.  I trimmed the DSP to leave a small border.  I made a Stampin Up! Decorative Label punchie in the same green as the card.  I added an offset in the deep eggplant color.  I cut an oval in the plum with my Creative Memories oval cutter.  The greeting is printed in green on white and cut the the next size down in the CM oval cutter. The greeting has been mounted with 3D tape. I've included the color combo image I was working with.

Challenge - Glitter Tree

I started with a background leftover from this class.  I cut the tree with a Sizzix Tree thick die and trimmed it to tuck in the bottom left hand corner.  I cut the snowflake from the same paper with a Marianne Snowflake thin die.  I dug through my stash of greetings and then cut this one with my Creative Memories Wavy Cutter.  I rubbed the top edge with a blue ink pad to highlight the edge against the trees in the background. The snowflake is held in place with a tiny silver brad.
I've submitted this card to Sparkles - Evergreen Tree Challenge, and  Holly Jolly - Gimme Glitter.

Card - For my Card Box

I made a couple of these cards for my box with this designer paper from American Crafts called Metropolitan Fountain.   I cut it down to 3.75 x 5.00" and then cut a pinky red layer that coordinated with the red damask design in the center.  I placed these then onto a black card.  I added a Stampin Up Decorative Label punchie and an oval color printed greeting cut with my Creative Memories oval cutter.  These were layered then adhered to the card front with 3D foam tape.

Challenge - Make your own background

I made this card for Sparkles - Weekly Christmas Card Challenge - Make your own background. 
I created my own background on the green card with a snowflakes True Type font called Faux Snow BRK.  They were printed on the card with Certainly Celery.  I placed a snowbank on the card which was cut with my Creative Memories Wavy Cutter. I then added the sleigh sticker by Martha Stewart.The gifts stickers were separate so I applied them to the card first then the sleigh on top.  I stamped the Peace greeting with an old foam stamp set and gold embossed it.  I punched it out with the Stampin Up! Decorative Label Punch.  It is mounted to the card with 3D foam tape. 

Christmas Stack Class - Winter Deer

 Here's a nice peaceful card for the last set. I bought the chipboard deer during the last Christmas season.  The background paper is Little Yellow Bicycle - Winterings on the beige background.  I printed the narrow frame onto the card stock. The blue background I found here.  I colored the deer with Tim Holtz Distress Stain - Gathered Twig on the beige background and Walnut on the blue background.  The deer is  adhered to the right hand side with his feet placed very near the border. The snowflake is created with a Martha Steward snowflake punch with the same card stock as the card and held in place with a tiny white brad.  I color printed the greetings in a coordinating color and cut into a snow bank with my Creative Memories wavy cutter. It is mounted to the background being trimmed to be inside the frame.  It is adhered with 3D foam tape to accommodate the legs of the deer.

R2G Card Kits - DSP Split - Diamonds and Stripes

I had specific plans to mix this what I thought  was black and white paper with red, yellow, green and purple but it turns out there is purple in this paper.  It was not going to work to match it with another color so Purple it is!

This is a classic 1 third 2 thirds Double Sided Designer Paper split.  The top piece is 4"W x 3.5"T then the bottom is 4"W x 1.75"T.  These are taped together on the back and edges trimmed if necessary.  The grosgrain ribbon is placed over the join of the 2 papers and the ends are taped to the back.  This layer is then adhered to the card front.  The greeting is color printed on white card stock and then cut with the Creative Memories #3 oval template with the green cutter.  It is layered onto a Stampin Up! Decorative Label punchie is the same color as the card.  This element is then adhered to the card front with 3D Foam tape.  If you favorite color is purple these kits may be for you!

Card - Teal - Thinking of You

 I started with a deep teal card.  I placed a white layer leaving a small border.  I cut the Designer Paper with my circle cutter giving me a nice curve on the card front.  I color printed the greeting then cut it out with one of the  Framelits from the Apothecary set.  Those Framelits really let you see exactly where you are cutting!!! I had offset the greeting allowing me to place a flower accent on the left.  I used a silk flower and a teal handmade paper flower held in place with a tiny white brad.  Another card for my stash.

R2G - Designer Paper Split - Card Kit

Another card kit.  I wanted a versatile design that would work with  many different designer papers.
I selected my double sided designer paper then chose card stock that coordinated.  I cut it to 4 x 5.25" then cut it again at 3.5" to leave a piece 1.75".  The smaller piece was turned over to reveal the other design on the back. This piece was butted up to the larger and tape together on the back.  I then selected coordinating ribbon in white or ivory depending on the DP colors. The ribbon was laid on the join and the ends were taped to the back. The designer paper was then glued to the card front. I cut a label with my Stampin Up! framelits from the Apothecary Accents set in black cardstock.  I color printed my greetings on white and ivory and cut them with my CM oval cutter. I selected the greeting based on the color of the ribbon (ivory or white).  I chose 2 sentiments - Thinking of You and Just a Note for these cards.  They can be used every day for someone who needs a bit of a lift.
