Fabric Patches - Black Marks

Doing some research into what product to use to make black marks on my fabric patches.

I thought since Inktense is permanent once heat set I concluded that the Derwent Outliner would be as well.  

Micron Markers 08 - some online sources did not recommend them but I always have them in my craft room.

Black Ball Point pen 

Sharpie Permanent Marker Fine Tip.

Daler-Rowney Acrylic Ink Black - I used a dip pen to apply.

I heat set the marks before I washed the fabric with soap and water 5 times drying it in between washings.

It is interesting that the black ball point pens turned blue but worked well. 

Sharpie Marker performed well.

Micron black marker performed well. 

The acrylic ink would be good it a tool is found that would apply it evenly.  It would work well for abstract marks.

Ball point pens seem to be a decent choice for permanent marks on fabric.

Other than the red ink one the rest did pretty well.

Unfortunately, the black ones after several washes turn bluish.  The Everest one did the best to stay black.  Stayed quite dark as well.

I will keep testing pens and hopefully I will find a black ink ball point that stays black after at least 5 washings.

10 Marks and Color

Black Watercolor and washes on Canson Fluid Mixed Media 154lb paper.

I chose a fine, medium and wide brush to make my black watercolor marks. I penciled a grid then filled in the spaces.

I made a variety of marks to create some texture.

I wanted a bit of color so I put in 2 washes.

I regret adding the spattering at the end.

Exchange Cards - Alchohol Ink background with black accents

I made this cards for my card exchange buddies.

I started with 4x6 photo paper.

I applied drops liquid acrylic color to my glass plate surface and spritzed with water.

I pressed the paper into the color and pull back.

These were allowed to dry completely.

I just love making these backgrounds.  They needed focal points so I moved to black paint.

I then used black liquid acrylic to make marks on the colored surface.  The circles were made with a plastic lid dipped in the black. The spots were dropped with a eye dropper. 






Again, these were left to dry completely.

Once dry I adhered them to heavy card stock in the A7 size.
