Fabric Flower - Yellow Fluffy

I am trying different techniques to ensure all my flowers are unique.

For this flower I used yellow cotton fabric which I ripped into .5 inch strips.  I cut the strips to 4.5 inches long and wrapped them onto a metal ring that measured 1.75 inches in diameter. I used 25 strips to fill the flower. 

Once, I had that done, I cut a piece of cotton in yellow gingham about 2 inches square double and added a bit of batting in between the layers and a 2 inch circle of card stock to provide support. I placed it on the back of the flower and stitched all the way around through the yellow cotton petals. I then secured the metal wire (4 lengths of 24 gauge wire twisted together) stem through its circle at the top to the center of the flower back. I cut a 2.5 inch circle from the same yellow fabric and hand stitched over the wire to hide that connection.

Watercolor HB Card

This is a card for an aunt who is celebrating a birthday this week.

I trimmed the watercolor panel to align with the left and right hand side of the SU Marina Mist card base. Placed the ripped edge at the bottom and the clean edge along the top.

I added an SU Old Olive grosgrain ribbon wrapped around the card front and knotted it.

Watercolor Card - Congrats on Grad

This card is for my grand neice who graduated from high school.

The ceremony was June 8th which 4 days after I took possession of this place that needed so much work that I could not get away.

We are celebrating this weekend as they are in town.

The card is SU Elegant Eggplant.  The seam binding is SU Marina Mist.  I layered the 3 pieces of watercolor over and below the ribbon which was wrapped around and knotted to the front of the card.  Added a SU Word window greeting.

They are headed to college soon.

Mother's Day Card

I made this card for my Mom.  She is so precious to me.

Her favorite color is blue so I made blue poppies for her card.

I chose a true blue card base.  I added a piece of watercolor designer paper cut to leave a small border.

I cut the Memory Box Row of Poppies die from blue green and grey blue card stock.  I cut the flowers from the grey and glued them onto the green.  I chalked the flowers to add some blue shading to them.

I cut a piece of the blue green card stock the width of the card and ripped the top edge.  Adhered to card front with double sided tape.

Printed the greeting on white card stock, ripped the top edge again, aligned the bottom edges and trimmed to the edge of the card.

Exchange Cards - September

I made a couple of cards with smaller pieces of designer paper for my exchange cards for September.

I cut the piece of polka dot designer paper from Micheals just on the diagonal as it was too small to rip.  I glue the triangles into both top left and bottom right corners of a olive green card base.

I dug out some of my dies and cut a Tim Holtz Vintage Alarm Clock from navy card stock.  It was adhered to the card front with Quick Dry Adhesive.



This card I used a striped designer paper and laid them sideways.   I ripped a small section out of it and then taped the pieces to the card front. 

I added the silver metallic Vintage Alarm Clock die cut to the right hand side over the open section of grey card base.

Christmas Card Challenge - Jan - Silhouette

I chose a stand-by image for me which is the Holy Family Silhouette.  It is a digi stamp that I can color as I like.   I added the greeting below the image and printed it in a warm blue green.

I printed it on quarter sheets of pale green card stock.  I ripped the edges on all four sides. 

I paired it with a granite blue green card stock for the base.

I used a push pin to create a hole for the silver star brad I placed on the printed star.  The layer was then adhered to the card base.

I made these during a nice visit with a card making friend.  We met last week and we spent 1.5 hours catching up on our Christmases etc. and kept our hands busy.  We met at a Seniors Center which worked really well.

We will do it monthly.

Thank You Cards - Pink Heart

This is a recycled card.  I cut the main element from the original and reused it.

I layered it onto a piece of purple and then punched small daisy flowers from the cutoffs.  I placed them below the main element and held them in place with pink brads.

The purple layer was adhered to the card front of a pink card.  The insert inside is blank.

I ripped right edge and mounted it on a brown card stock layer.  It was adhered to the front of a pink card aligned to the right hand side. 

I added some stitching in brown thread on the left hand side.  Placed a pink handmade paper flower in the wide opening held in place with a pink brad.

These are headed to my Thank You Card box.

Tea Cards - Custom Order

This tea cup appeared in my 2018 Nice Cuppa 4x6 photo calendar.  This photo of the tea cup with the matching bowl was in the first round of photos taken for the calendar.

The friend who owns this china requested a set of cards made with the image.  I chose a bright warm pink card which worked well with the flower in the bowl.  I used a very pale green card stock  with a Pink Passion greeting.   I printed the greeting then ripped the top and bottom edges.

The 3.75 x 3.75 inch photo and the greeting were adhered to the card front with double sided tape.

The greeting and the insert was customized for each recipient.  I made 7 of these.

The same warm bright pink card stock was used for these. 

I used a 3.5 x 5 inch photo for these where I trimmed a .25 inch from the top of the photo.  It was adhered to the card front with double sided tape leaving a generous border.

I made 3 of these - one with a customized sentiment and 2 with a blank insert which will allow it to be used for any occasion.

She was very happy with the set of cards.

Card Club Kit - Set 4 - Card 2

I chose a warm designer paper in blues, oranges and ivories made by K&Company - On the road stars.  I cut it to 5.25 x 4.00 inches.

I added a ripped strip of blue vellum which folded to the back of the designer paper and taped the ends down. This layer was then adhered to the front of a ginger card.

I added the greeting which was color printed and cut to .5 tall. I adhered it over top of the vellum.

I placed one bronze star and used a push pin to create a hole through star and card front. I spread the prongs on the inside of the card. Repeat for the rest of the stars.  Make sure at least one of the brads captures the greeting.

Card Club Kit - Set 3 - Card 2

Easter cards may be part of our seasonal card needs in this kit so I included one with a double sided greeting so those who what an alternative greeting have one.

I started with designer paper from BasicGrey - Sweet Threads - Weekend Look.  I cut the 12x12 into six 5.25 x 4.00 inch pieces.  Then I cut those again at the 3.5 inch mark to create a split layer. I turned over the small piece and tape them back together at the back. I then adhered that layer onto the pink car.

The greeting was color printed in a bright green onto pale yellow card stock.  To give the card makers an option and I printed an alternative greeting on the back. I chose the Easter greeting side for my card. I ripped the top and bottom edge and adhered it over the join in the designer paper.

Card Club - November - Felt Tree

I started with the small white felt trees which were left over from this Christmas Card Club kit.

I added this swirly night sky designer paper onto a dark navy blue card base.

I ripped a snowbank which was adhered to the bottom of the card.

The tree is held in place with a tiny silver star brad.  The silver star sequin at the top of the tree is held in place with a silver tiny round brad.

The banner greeting was color printed and and trimmed close to the border.  It is adhered to the card front with 3D foam tape.

Here's the alternative color for this card kit.

It works beautifully as well.

Sympathy - Blue Green Tones

This is the card I made for my brother in law whose sister lost her husband. 

A similar design to the last one.  I like this layout for a 4" square of designer paper.  

I ripped the square in 2 then ripped again towards me to remove the white edge.

I adhered them to the front of a deep warm green card where I shifted one down and the other up.  I stamped the sentiment from Stampendous on white card stock with Evergreen VersaColor ink and clear embossed it.  I ripped the top and bottom and adhered it in the center of the card. 

I punched a Martha Stewart butterfly punch from deep green card stock and adhered it above and to the left of the sentiment.

Sympathy & Card Set

I made this card for a friend who lost her husband recently.  They had recently moved to BC after his retirement and he passed very suddenly.

I used some designer paper from Michaels called Teal Paisley.  I love the watercolor effect of this paper with the colors ranging from turquoise to green.   I cut the paper into 4" squares. Here I have ripped it in half and shifted the piece up and down.
I stamped the sentiment from Stampendous in Green Tea Versamark and embossed it in clear powder.  I ripped the to and bottom of the greeting and adhered it in the center of the card.
I punched a butterfly with a Martha Stewart punch from warm green card stock and adhered it above and to the left of the sentiment.

I made a set of cards that coordinates for her to use as she needs during this difficult time.  The butterfly die in white was cut with the Sizzix Winged Beauties die.













The memorial service is today and my brother in law will be by his sister's side.  I have spent many a Christmas Eve with this couple unwrapping "Treasures".  He will be missed.

Simple Sentiment - DSP Version

I've been wanting to expand my options for my line of Simple Sentiments cards.  I designed the photo one last year.  With a bit of brain storming when my sister was out last week we came up with this design.

This one features designer paper on a coordinating card. 
 
The greeting is ripped top and bottom and adhered to the card front with 3D foam tape.   It can be on white or ivory card stock.



 
It has a quarter sheet insert of bond paper.

This is a versatile design that works for a wide or tall card. 

I may expand the width of my greeting by using a different font.  I do have quite a bit of room in either layout.

Looking forward to producing a few of these for my card box or others.

Christmas Thank Yous

I made thank you cards for the gifts I received this Christmas.
I chose snowflake designer paper by Rhonna Farrer - Holly Jolly Snowflakes by Autumn Leaves.  I cut it down to 5.25 by 4.00 inches then ripped a small section away ensuring a clean edge.
I adhered them to the front of a black card.
I added a strip of solid turquoise paper by Cactus Pink - Decades - Atomic Age - Be-bop across the width of the card. 
I color printed some greetings and punched them out with the Stampin Up Decorative Label punch.  It was adhered onto the strip with 3D foam tape.

Card Club - June - Star Birthday

I printed the greeting layer.  I wrapped the diecut open border around both ends and taped the ends to the back of the white layer.  I placed the black polka dots washi tape below the greeting.  I ripped the bottom edge of the greeting layer then adhered it to the card front. Decide on the placement of your star brads.  I used a push pin to create holes through the card front then placed the prongs of the red star brads through spreading them apart on the inside of the card. 

Note Cards - Wonderful Wings

This is a stash busting opportunity.  Pulling 4" wide remnants of designer paper are pulled from the stash.

I cut the piece of designer paper from Fancy Pants - Summer Soiree - Beach House by Michelle Coleman with wavy decorative scissors.  It was placed in a wide landscape orientation on a yellow card. I produced the butterfly accent with Stampin Up Wonderful Wings stamp set in Blue Bayou on Whisper White card stock. It was then punched out with the Decorative Label punch. The accent is adhered over the split in the designer paper with 3D foam tape.

On this card, the same layout and butterfly on a decorative label punchie.  The designer paper is warm in tone with flowers and circles.  I selected white card for this paper.

Note Cards - Canvas Butterfly

I received an order for blank note cards.  I chose to finish my supply of canvas butterflies into these cards.  They are all gone! I'm moving to another method.



 








Above - I chose a deep taupe card and designer paper by Fancy Pants - Fancy Free collection - Tradition.  I ripped the small piece on the left by pulling towards myself to avoid the wide rip edge. Then I pulled again a narrow strip to remove the white edge. These pieces were then adhered to the card front leaving a space of card showing.  I adhered the canvas butterfly over this space in the top left hand corner with Zots.

Right - On this card I chose a light taupe card which coordinated with one of the colors in the flowers.  I applied the same process and glued my designer paper in the portrait tall orientation.  Zots hold the canvas butterfly in place.  The designer paper is by Little Yellow Bicycle - Acorn Hollow.

All Occasion Cards - Canvas Butterfly

I made a set of cards for the family who are grieving the loss of a husband, father, and grandfather.

The colors in the paper allowed me to use several card colors (kraft, royal blue and sage green) to provide some variety in this set of very simple cards. They can be used as needed at this difficult time.
The designer paper was cut to 4" square then ripped leaving a smaller and a larger piece. The piece with the white paper edge was ripped again to remove the white paper edge.  I adhered the pieces to both ends of the card leaving the card color showing in between.
I adhered the canvas butterfly over this space held in place with Zots. The design is versatile in that it works in the wide or tall orientation.

Any Occasion Cards - Butterflies

I made several of these and will give them to the family today at the funeral.  At this difficult time, there should be no need to run to the store for cards.  During these difficult times people pitch in and help as needed and a card of appreciation is always a nice thing to do.  The family can do as they wish with the cards and I hope they come in handy.
