Sylvia's Simple Shots

I had family over for Thanksgiving Lunch on Sunday.  With the weather not being so nice I headed out for groceries late Friday night and just warmed up the chicken on Sunday. Their travel went well.

We had a good visit with my sister and my niece.  We talked day care, jobs, and dissected the sewing machine accessories I brought home from ReUse a while back.  My sister is a very knowledge person regarding sewing and machines.  She took some of the pieces to donate to AB Sewing where they repair sewing machines and doing servicing.  Old sewing machine parts are likely very hard to find. The box yielded a darning foot for my aunt, several feet for my niece, a couple for my sister and a couple for me and the rest to go to good homes.

I am invited to my aunts for supper Monday night.

The Last Beekeeper by Siya Turabi is the book I finished this week.

This is a lyrical historical novel of family, friendship, and self discovery exploring the power of choice in a changing world and love in communion with nature.

Hassan is a boy who lives in a small village in Pakistan.  He is looking for the beekeeper in the forest and does not find him. The black bees honey can help his mother's eyes but no honey was found either.  He wins a scholarship to study in Karachi but he is torn as he leaves his small village for the big city and leaves his mother alone.

He enjoys school, makes new friends, and finds a beehive which communicates with him.  Eventually, he decides to go back to the village with his friends to find the black honey for his Mom.

Great story and excellent read.

I did manage to unpack three boxes from the craft room/office this week.

The stuff has found homes and some stuff just had to go.

I can now walk around my craft table. Yeah.

I voted in the Alberta Referendum in advanced polls.

I headed out just before 9 to find a very long line of folks ahead of me.

The organizers were very well set up and it took just under an hour to get it done.

It was bound to happen and it fell over night. First Snow.

Now I can see that are people way between me and the fence.

My aunt and I headed to Barrhead with goodies in hand for our reception today.

The roads were good.

We had a decent crowd show up.  Connected with friends and had tea and goodies.

We stayed past the closure of the gallery and so headed home about 5pm.  We were having a good time.
