Photos - World Wide Photo Walk

I participated in the 3rd annual World Wide Photo Walk on Saturday, July 24th. It was a very good experience. This is an opportunity for photographers of all experience levels to get together, take pictures, and share ideas. Forty of us met at Louise McKinney Park, walked through the Shaw Conference Centre, down Jasper Avenue to the Gibson Block then west to the Hotel McDonald taking pictures all the way. What fun! The weather was perfect.
Here's a few pictures from my day. The lily was part of the gardens with the Chinese Pagoda just to the left, the Bison metal sculpture is at the Shaw Conference Centre, the church dome is part of the St. Barbara's Russian Orthodox Cathedral in the Boyle Street area, and the light fixture is on the front of the Gibson Block building (the triangular one on Jasper Avenue & 96 street). I took the background image as well which is dried mud in a parking lot.

Card - DP - Birthday Card

This is a birthday card I made to coordinate with the stack of cards I made. I started with an Old Olive card. I applied direct to paper technique with my Night of Navy stamp pad to the card. Then glued the squares in a couple of columns. Stamped the greeting in the bottom right hand corner with same inkpad.

Left: Mellow Moss card with a piece of DP ripped on the right hand side. I assembled an accent with a stamped navy flower on a 1.25 circle, a mellow moss 1.38 circle onto a navy scallop. I placed it over a olive ribbon .

Right: Old Olive card with a piece of DP ripped bottom and a navy ribbon with a olive bit tied onto it in a knot. Added a green button to one of the flowers.

Cards - DP - Card Set 3

Left: Mellow Moss card with navy striped DP ripped on the bottom. Stamped a flower greeting and punched it out with the scallop. Added a small blue button in the centre. Ran a light blue ribbon along the left side which had a knot tied into it and a small length of olive tied above it.
Right: Mellow Moss card with 2 pieces of DP placed next to each other. A white ribbon over the join with 3 coordinating buttons placed left of the ribbon along the card edge.

Cards - DP - Card Set 2

Left: Not Quite Navy card with a layer of DP which I have trimmed along the edge of the flowers. Added a white gross grain ribbon to the top third and knotted.
Right: Mellow Moss card with striped DP ripped on the bottom edge. Two stamped flowers (small clear set) in navy which flank a button on the bottom along with the greeting. Used the slot punch to add navy ribbon accent at the top of the card.

Cards - DP - set 1

I received a supply kit of cardstock and Stampin Up! Designer Paper a few days ago. Mellow Moss, Old Olive, and Not Quite Navy cardstock with a this designer paper and a few buttons in Not Quite Navy & Bashful Blue. Main Blueberry is the name of the DP. Thanks Therese.
I decided to challenge myself to see what cards I could make. Of course, it great that the DP is double sided. This is a really nice color combination.
On the left this is the same sheet front and back which I cut into 1/3 and 2/3 pieces. I tied a white 1/4 gross grain ribbon over the join and added 3 small buttons in the right lower corner with Zots. On the left, I used cut off strips placed side by sida and ripped the bottoms, added an old olive gross grain ribbon and I stamped the greeting on the right in Night of Navy and punched it out with my scallop punch and added a button in the centre.

Christmas Cards - Purple Joy

This is my card for Karen's Holiday Card Challenge which is purple and the Christmas All Year Round Challenge. I stamped "Joy" by Posh Impressions and embossed it with gold powder. I added a layer of gold paper under that. I layered a diamond patterned paper to a green card. I laid the purple joy layer over the diamond paper. I used a 5 petal punch accent in coordinating colors from the diamond paper. I made 5 of these. My total Christmas cards = 72 I'm surprised how easily I have incorporated Christmas cards into my regular cardmaking.

Cards - Embossed Layers

I created these cards for my card exchange. On the left card, I used a Cuttlebug embossing folder just to where the burgundy ribbon is laid. I added my Razzleberry decorative paper then layered my greeting with chalked edges on top.
On the right card, I used the Swiss Dots embossing folder on about 1/3 of the card, then created an accent. The curry layer was embossed with a Tim Holtz embossing folder then I added the same decorative paper and greeting as above.

Photo - Downtown Skyline

I took a walk down by the Muttart and across the river on the foot bridge. I was looking for sunset pictures but is as close as I got. I guess you have to be outside the city to actually have a horizon. I tried out the Sunset setting on my camera. I think it's not bad for a 1st effort.

Photo - Wetaskiwin Museum

I took a day trip today to Wetaskiwin, about 1 hour south. The metal utensils created a nice graphic element. I loved the color and painting on the Victrola. I tried my Accent Color feature on the wagon and teddy bears by highlighting the red and the rest of the picture is black and white. The metal scallop is a lock on a Chinese travel trunk.

I was out taking pictures again. I was near the Legislative Grounds and found some great peonies. They were very large, at least 6 inches in diameter. I thought this color combination was great! Great macro lens on this camera.

Photo - Canada Day

I went down to the river valley for the fireworks. There was a LOT of people down there. I took a few pics not many of which I was very happy with. It is hard to keep your arms up and not have camera shake. I was not prepared to take a tripod as I knew the crowds would be large.

Cmas Card Challenge - July - Angels

This month's Christmas Card Challenge theme is angels. I guess there are several kinds of angels. There are the ones heralding the good news with a trumpet, those high in the sky who appeared to the shepherds, and those offering praise. I chose Angelica by Stampendous for my image. I stamped her in different colors then embossed with clear powder with a bit of glitter added. I used royal blue, chianti and eggplant inkpads. I added a layer of metallic then tied a ribbon around the spine. On the mauve one is punched a small hole about 1.5" from the top of the card then brought both ends to tie a knot over the piece stretched over the card front. I made 6 cards.
