Share Your Cup - Recent Pics

When I bought my cute glass lemon a while back, my aunt the other two that were being offered.  I lent me her two so I could take some interesting photos.

I placed them onto a navy blue blue plate.  I was not fussy of the shiny navy empty space on the corners so I sprinkled some cornmeal to reduce the glare.

I added some direct light onto the front one with a small flashlight.

I'm happy with this photo.

I hosted Welcome to my Kitchen this morning.  This is our fellowship group where we take turns hosting.

With my new kitchen I was excited to host but with 16 expected I was concerned about having space for everyone to be comfortable.  I am very happy with the layout created with my dining room table and my craft table.  I chose yellow table cloths as it was the only color I have one big enough to cover the large table.

With 10 able to sit at the tables I set up TV tables along the sofa.  There was a table in the far corner with a stool.  The large chair in the foreground had a space of plate and cup on the trunk next to it.  I also had a small stool to serve as a table along with cushions on my wooden bench.

As it turned out we were 12 and it was very comfortable.  As you can see the sun was shining!

Isn't Tupperware the best!  Tupperware parties were the rage when I graduated from high school. I have attended 100s of parties and spent a good dollar in my 20s stocking my kitchen. Money back guarantee!  I think the younger generation is not appreciating this product. Many pieces are between 30-40 years old. No,  I am not a demonstrator or have any vested interest.  I just love their product.

I put together a cheese and cracker tray which was served on a large yellow platter.  I served Camembert, mozzarella and marble sheet with great whole grain crackers.

I prepared a veggie tray with dill dip served in the Tupperware Large Serving Center.  I put in carrot sticks, pepper slices, cauliflower, and cherry tomatoes.

A fruit tray served in the Tupperware Red Six Section Snack Tray.  Green grapes, oranges slices, and strawberries.

I made some Carrot Bran Muffins which features pineapple.  The other baking was Scottish Oat Scones.  Served on my plate stand with French Cobalt blue glass plates.

Here's my plate on a TV tray.

A friend helped me with the coffee making in a coffee maker I won as a prize at one of those famous Tupperware parties years ago. It gets used 1-2 times a year. I bought Nabob 1896 Tradition grounds which was a good choice I am told.   As most of you know, tea is my drink of choice.  I used my IKEA Cobalt Blue tea pot and made Red Rose black tea.  Both was well enjoyed.

I am working on my cobalt blue pieces in hopes of putting together a still life photo sometime next year.

The tall glass bottle is a recent purchase.  There was a different style at the same store so I going to get that one as well.

My inspiration is this painting by Mickie Acierno.

During the update to my place mostly in the kitchen I put new art for the bathroom on the shop list. Ihave not found anything so far.  As you may remember I lightened the bathroom with a white shower curtain. This wee,  I combined 2 items I have owned for years.  I had an empty white wooden frame in 16x20 and the print in my bathroom was the same size.  I thought these should work.  They do!

Share Your Cup - This Week

This was tea this morning.  Left over popcorn from the movie last night (more about that in a bit), a cup of Jade Citrus Mint and some orange wedges to make it somewhat healthy.  All set out on a large yellow charger plate then placed on the small yellow chair I bought a while ago.  It has had its second cleaning and now I will have to take sand paper next.

The mug was a gift from a friend many years ago for she knew sunflowers were my favorite flowers.  It is a Canadian Design by Valerie Pfeiffer - Sunflowers.

I finished another book this week as it was due back to the library on Tuesday.

This a collection of short stories of very interesting characters who all live on in the 30 or so houses on Chestnut Street.

Fay's New Uncle is one which I enjoyed.  She did not know him until he needed her to be released from the hospital.  He was elderly, quiet and kept to himself. The hospital staff tracked her down and suggested she visit him there.  He seems nice enough but the rub is he can not be released from hospital unless someone agrees to care for him.
She visits the house on Chestnut Street, it is clean and tidy and well kept. She agrees to help the old guy out.  It will need renovations to allow him to live on the main floor. The guy has funds so that proceeds.  Now a tenant on the upper floor would be ideal.  Well what about her and her room mate.  Yes, that will work.  The arrangement made was they would cook Sunday supper for him every week.  Soon, he is visiting his neighbours, making friends and is all around much happier.  I would recommend this one.

A friend and I saw the movie "The Shack" last night.  When the book was released in 2007 several copies circulated around our ladies group.  I borrowed the book and read it cover to cover in 2 binge sessions.  I have since acquired my own copy and try to read it once a year.  It is so good!

That year as well when the author P.W. Young was on his book tour a bunch of us went out to dinner and went to see him talk about the book.

The movie was terrific.  I love God portrayed as a black woman.  Jesus as a dark skinned, plaid shirt wearing carpenter and the spirit as a creative Asian woman.

The power of forgiveness has to redeem our souls. Totally enjoyed it.

Look what I found at the thrift store yesterday!!

Another glass lemon.  Eventually, I am hoping to have a bowl full of glass lemons and now I have two.

This is very good!

Tea with a Friend - Blue, White and Color Pop

I placed my navy blue table cloth covered with the white lace one.  I like it.  I added blue quilted place mats.

This was the place setting for my friend. I chose the Chelsea Garden pattern by Myott Straffordshire in blue and white with the dessert plate, and the teacup and saucer.  A fork and spoon in heavy flatware by Splendide.

I am really loving this white round porcelain tea pot.  I used my one Blue Willow dessert plate as a hot spot for the table.

I had water on the table served in my glass pitcher with the cobalt handles.  I chose the cobalt blue juice glasses to coordinate.

Yellow napkins to coordinate with my pop of color in the fruit bowl.

This is my latest try at finding a dish for my new collection of glass fruit and veggies.  It is a potpourri dish by Claire Burke.  I thought the rectangular shape would lessen the space required on the table.  It is very plain so does not compete with the glass shapes inside.  I added a few glass marbles to fill in the spaces in between.

I'm not sure this the final dish but it is working okay.

I made apple and rhubarb crisp for afternoon tea.  I baked it in my birthday gift from last year - yellow and white Kitchen Aid Ceramic Bakeware.  The pot holders were a gift from my Mom this Christmas.  She always honors my wish to have navy and yellow for my kitchen.  Love them.

I set my place with Wedgewood Countryside with the same 3 pieces I mentioned earlier.

We had a good visit as we had not seen each other since our pre Christmas visit in early December.

Tea, Fellowship and Spring

This was my tea this afternoon.  I'm going with summer colors as the weather today was really warm and I can see that it is on it's way.

The tea is Lemon & Ginger by Clipper which is really nice.  Served in my true blue dishes which have been neglected during the winter season.  I chose a yellow place mat and a striped napkin.

The glass fruit in the wide bowl from the true blue dishes are a new acquisition.

A couple Citrus and Cranberry cookies.

The glass fruit in the wide bowl from the true blue dishes are a new acquisition.  I have been looking for a few glass lemons for a table center.

I managed to get 12 fruit in a punch bowl for about $1 each.  I was thrilled.  I chose the lemon, pear and banana for this bowl.

I have been spending time on one of my goals for 2017 - relax

I received this tea coloring book in the blog giveaway from Margie at Tea in the Valley

I selected a doodle tea cup and chose colors to coordinated with my afternoon tea.  The colors are deep yellow, true blue and navy.

It was our women's fellowship Welcome to my Kitchen group get together this morning.  Our host provided some baked quiches, cinnamon rolls, fruit, cheese, yogurt, juice and delicious tea.  We were 9 with a few new attendees.  It was a wonderful time.

These small quiches were absolutely delicious.

They were baked in muffin tins.  They had cheese and ham.

After breakfast and a made a visit to the wetlands.

The pussy willows are starting to emerge.  I think it is a bit early and hope they don't get a shock later when we get more snow and cold weather.

It was very encouraging to see them though.

The pond is nearly melted which surprised me.  There are bits of snow still showing.  I did not manage to get a photo of the chickadees which were certainly singing their hearts out.

SYC - Couple of Weeks

I've been very busy doing craft sales, filling card and calendar orders and getting ready for an Art Show.  I have concerts, brunches and a community sing in my next few weeks.  Christmas gifts and cards have to make into the mix as well.

During a visit to deliver a card order to a friend I found this wonderful cut glass bowl filled with glass yellow lemons.  I love it!  It's right up my alley in color and medium.

It may take me a while to put something similar together.

My aunt collected these hydrangeas in the fall and they kept their color.  She had a great vase in a dusty rose color that really went well with the dried flowers.  I set up a bit of a vignette to capture the flowers.  Love it.

I was part of a tree decorating party at my aunt's house on Monday evening.  She has a lot of vintage ornaments and I captured a few.

I wish that there was a tree up a my house but not yet.  I have had too many craft commitments.

I captured these blue jays at the feeder in Mom & Dad's yard.  I guess it totally depends on the type of seeds you put out as to whether the jays come.  I vote to keep up the sunflower seeds to keep them coming.

I picked up this Tupperware cake taker at the second hand store.  I have a vintage one which I purchased just after high school but I find this one is better in the sense that the hand locks in.  The base is yellow so that was for sure a win for it coming home with me.
