I prepared this large A7 photo card for my aunt on my Dad's side of the family who lost a son.
It must breaks a mother's heart to lose a child. She is in her eighties but that does not matter.
I added Modern Label punchie with a black greeting to this simple Rose Hip and grass still life. Mounted with 3D foam tape.

I found these napkin rings at the thrift store the other day. I just could not leave them there. The price was good as well. The box contained 10 of them.
Silver wire Bee Napkin Rings. The bottom ring is flat so they will sit nicely on the table. I used a black napkin so that they would contrast nicely.
A stop at the Community Garden yielded some nice shots.
Lovely red poppy was terrific.
Now thistles are not necessarily welcome at the garden but the bees were checking them out.
I found purple in the Sweet Peas, the delicate Alium in a purple shade, and burgundy crab apples.
On the right is a nice red, very large rose hip.

We got some more snow overnight! I captured these soft snow mounds in the river valley on my walk this afternoon. It was only -2C so the water was running in places and hopefully soon it will be history!!!
The birds were busy at the bird feeder.
I had put sunflower seeds to have them land on the railing of the steps.
Another walker had put out peanuts and was desperately trying to keep the magpies eating his contribution for the smaller birds.
I love how I got the shine of his eye in this photo. He is keeping an his eye on me while checking out where the food is.
The House Sparrow has such wonderful coloring on his back.
The fellow had made the peanut chunks smaller but it seems a bit of a mouth full for this guy.
Of course, the squirrels are competing with the birds for dibs but I am not including of photo of them this week.

This is a small evergreen tree on the golf course in the river valley. He is perfectly suited in a suit of white.
I captured a bit of color as well with these dried rose hips. The dried grasses are in the yellows and straw colors right now as well.
The snow fell slowly and gently over night and most of the morning so driving was a bit hazardous so I chose my feet in nature towards the end of the day. This is my snow capped mosaic.

Mosaic Monday - Wetlands
I made a visit to the wetlands recently since the weather was so nice. It felt like spring. I was surprised to see water where ice should be on the pond.
Water does provide nice reflections which ice does not so I appreciated the water. Here are some cattails with still a bit of snow and ice around the edges.
The sun was not shining and the sky was overcast. Their color is a deep golden yellow color so it adds to the brightest of the scene.

These winter versions of flowers along a fence were wonderfully pouffe and light.
Another plant along the fence so I will assume it is cultivated rather than native to the wetlands.
I thought the little yellow clusters looked like flowers with their even rows of petals.
Check out the red stems in the back ground.
The dried leaves on the bushes along the pond had such interesting and alien shapes.
These were grey on grey branches.
Crumpled gently over time to create this dimensional shape from what was a flat leaf in the summer. They must have been quite large originally as they were quite substantial as dried leaves.
The mosaic has these very furry leaves. They look like animal fur. Rosehips provide a punch of red color in the landscape. Another berry maybe dogwood with the red branches. The yellow flowers at the bottom were well preserved and totally delightful.
