Sympathy Cards

A wonderful man passed away quietly in his sleep last week. I spent many Christmas Eves with my sister and her husband`s family.  His father was a great support to this kids and grandkids. The funeral is today.

This card is a 5x7 inch card on heavy card stock.  It features a beautiful chokecherry tree leaf which was adhered to the card front in portrait orientation.

I added a blue greeting color printed and punched with the Artisan Label punch by Stampin Up.  I used 3D foam tape to adhered it in the bottom right hand corner.

This card is for my brother - in - law`s sister which I have gotten to know over the years.

It features a pink rose photo which was cut to 3.5 x 4.75 inches and adhered to the front of a heavy card stock card.

I added a greeting in the bottom left hand corner created with a Word Window punchie glued to a green Modern Label punchie.  It was adhered to the card front with 3D foam tape.  The punchies were created with Stampin Up punches.

Photo Card Gift Set - Donation

I made a set of photo cards in the 5x7 format which is larger than the standard A2 size I normally make.

I adhered one of my photographs in 4x6 size to the front which were individually signed.

For this set I selected flowers in the set.

I chose the following and put 2 cards of the same in the box.

Red Dahlia

Yellow Lily

Pink Cosmos

Purple Allium

Making larger cards was challenging in the sense that I need new supporting documents, new envelopes, and new packaging.

This is being donated as a prize for a charity event in the fall.

Cards to Gallery - Photos

I am delivering cards to the french Gallery today.

This is my photo of early spring growth on a Japanese Bayberry - Rose Glow branch.

The branch leads your eye through the photo to the bright burgundy leaves on the right hand side.  Nice pollen specks on the leaf adds a bit of texture to the the smooth leaves.

Alberta Rose photos are always popular around here.

Having a bit of a bug in the center adds some interest and contrast to the center.

The leaves lead you to the pink bloom on the left.

Again, a slight diagonal presentation from bottom left hand corner.

I took this photo this spring.  I was so anxious for it to arrive considering the long winter we had.

I loved the beautiful curve to the leaf which frames the pussy willow very nicely.  It keeps your eye in the photo.

Lovely soft background ensures the focus is on the one furry flower bud.

Cards to Gallery

I have put some of my Spinner Art paper to use.  This is a bright and bold piece in oranges and purples. the colors are Purple Lake and Flame Orange. I cut a piece to 3.5x4.75 then cut again into 3 pieces.  I layered those only a piece of black cardstock.

I produced a three language greeting English French and Spanish in black clear embossed on vellum.  I ripped the top and bottom edges.  It was attached to the decorative paper layer with tiny black brads. This layer was then adhered to the front of a Tangerine card.

Another Spinner Art paper card with the same layout as the first.  The colors on this one are more muted and in the warm gold tones.  The colors are Raw Umber and Raw Yellow Ochre.

I produced a three language greeting English French and German in black clear embossed on vellum.  I ripped the top and bottom edges.  It was attached to the decorative paper layer with tiny black brads. This layer was then adhered to the front of a kraft card.

I decided to try this photo at the Gallery.  I`m not much of a pet person but many are so this cat card.  It is a neighborhood cat which I have seen several times on my morning walks.

It had it`s eye on something when I took the photo which resulted in this intense stare.

I think it is a pretty cat.

Happy Birthday 80th

I made this card for a friend who is celebrating her 80th birthday.  I have been invited to a party for her this afternoon.

I wanted a larger card as I will include a 2018 Fridge Calendar.  I chose to make a 5x7 inch (A7) card. I started with the 3.5x5 inch photo of a pink cosmos.   I created the greeting layer and since this photo is not the same proportions of a 5x7 I had to adjust the border spaces.  I chose Regal Rose for the frame and Not Quite Navy for the greeting.  I printed the greeting layer then trimmed it close to the border. I adhered the photo above the words.

I chose a deep warm blue card and cut down the 8.5x11 to create the card.  I cut the 8.5 down to 7 1/8. Then I scored at 5 1/8th and folded then I trimmed the other half to be even with the front.

I chose to align the greeting layer with an even border on the top, left and bottom edges. That left a wider border on the right.  I decided to add some soft seam binding wrapped around the card front and tied in a knot on the left.  The greeting layer was then adhered over the ribbon onto the card front with 3D foam tape.  It adds a nice dimension to the card.

I can put an insert which measures the 5x7 on the inside and it is ready to give.  I chose a nice A7 envelope from Paper Garden - Pink Lemonade.

Craft Sale - Christmas Photo Cards

I have made a few more photo Christmas Cards for my craft sale on the weekend. Check out my events page for details.

This was a snowman decoration at the Conservatory a couple of years ago.  Love his happy face.  This is a 3.5 x 4.75 inch photo on a white heavy card.

The standing deer was again at the Conservatory.

Red berry from the Conservatory.

The bird was an ornament on a Christmas tree at the Garden Center.

The Cardinal ornament with birch trees is a glass ornament on display at the garden center.

The oval poinsettia is an old design which I have converted to a photo card.  Love the red poinsettia.

The aqua blue glass ornament was on a tree at the garden center.
The sitting deer was at the Conservatory.

The evergreen bough is a great winter card.
The leaves with red berries photo does not have snow but has wonderful seasonal colors.

Holy Family Photo Christmas Cards

I take photos of nativity sets whenever I can. This was taken during the 2016 Christmas season.

This time I was working on supplies for a stack card kit for my class on Monday.  I printed a few extra to make some cards for the craft sale.

Here I have adjusted the orientation of the photo to accommodate my needs for the card kit.  I added a color fill background and added a greeting.

For this card with a 4x6 photo I had to reduce the space between the photo and the greeting so I trimmed the photo down to a narrow color border.  I then trimmed the greeting to the same width as the photo.  These were adhered to the card front of a heavy white card.

Left: This little nativity I have used before.

Right: I designed this card with a Mother and Child photo from Pixabay.  I`ve used this image several times.

The stack kit should be ready soon.

Cards to Gallery - Photo Cards

This is a Tree Swallow photo which I took when I visited the Ellis Bird Farm this summer.  They were all over the place and overall cooperated with those of us with cameras.

As you can see he had his eye on me but I got a great photo.

I am happier with my photos coming back from the developer since I had a conversation with the tech in the print room.

It means I have to maintain 2 sets of photos; one in the 4x6 and another in the 3.5x5 inches.  For these photo cards I have printed 3.5 and trimmed a bit off the length.

The photos are adhered to great heavy card stock which produces a great end product.

I caught this wonderful yellow tulip at the Legislative Grounds.

This is a Greater Scaup which is medium sized diving duck.  This is a male with the great shiny head and striking yellow eye.

This was taken on my trip the Elk Island Park this summer.

Would be a great card for a guy into the outdoors.

Cards to the Gallery

My reception at the Gallery last night went really well. Several friends dropped by to check out the art.

With brisk sales I was in need of more cards to keep my display full.

I have added a title to the card front as many people asked me the names of the birds and flowers.

Here is my Black Capped Chickadee on heavy white card stock.

I love the various colors in Cosmos flowers.  I captured this one at the Legislative Grounds this summer.  It's great to have another in the background that repeats the punch of pink.

Here's that cute little Barn Swallow with his great colors.  This was taken at the John Poole Wetlands at the Lois Hole Provincial Park near St. Albert.

I sold the wedding card I delivered on Tuesday so I whipped up another based on this lovely image of a wedding couple available at EDigg Clipart.

Printed in black on vellum and clear embossed.  I chose a piece of bubble decorative paper.  I love how his side is more a masculine color and hers is lovely blue lavender.  The paper was cut to leave a small border of the warm blue card.  The vellum was trimmed a bit more and is held in place with 4 tiny white brads.

These are off to the gallery this morning.

I am bringing 2 Nature Photo Calendars and 1 Teddy Bear Calendar as well.

Photo Cards to the Gallery

I made a few photo cards for the gallery as well.  This is a wonderful Alberta Rose which makes a great card to send to far away places.

The card is white heavy card stock in the A2 5.5x4.25 inches.

The photo has been trimmed to 3.5 x 4.75 inches and adhered to the card front leaving a generous border.

Getting started on Christmas cards for the gallery.

Loved this sitting deer decoration all decked out with a Christmas wreath around it's neck featuring red berries and pine cones.

The card is white heavy card stock in the A2 5.5x4.25 inches.

The photo has been trimmed to 3.5 x 4.75 inches and adhered to the card front leaving a generous border.

I am not really sure what type of fruit is featured in this photo. It was taken at the conservatory last year.

I cropped the image to have the red nicely framed with leaves.

Photo Cards - Thank Yous

I made and will deliver some thank you cards to the those who provided excellent customer service during the process of buying, delivering and installing my new appliances.  I appreciated the sales person working with my criteria and providing choices within those parameters. When it came time for delivery I was always told who would be coming to my home and the work the person would be performing. The coordinator on delivery day was great as the door swing was facing the wrong way, a small scratch was made on the fridge and my front door was damaged during the process.  The delivery guys had to remove my door to get the new fridge in which was extra work. The plumber who came to install the dishwasher was top notch! The young man who came to fix the front door did an excellent job.  They were both professional, organized, and considerate of my home.  I am so grateful and hopeful that the young people entering the trades are so well trained.

I selected a few of the photos I took this summer.  I printed them 3.5x5 and trimmed to 4.75 inches and adhered to heavy white card.

Photo Card Gift Box

I have put together a box set of photo cards for a prize at an upcoming charity event.

I chose 3 rural images which have been cut to 3.5 x 4.75 inches leaving a generous border.  They have been adhered to a heavyweight white A2 card.

The first is three heads of barley against a stormy sky.

Second, is a field which has been combined leaving windrows of straw behind.  Again, the sky is very expressive.

Third, a field of bales on rolling hills with a wonderful blue of water in the background.

I have packaged 12 cards (4 of 3 designs) in a 6x6 clear box with an information card stock insert.

Photo Cards to Gallery

I've decided to bring some of my photo cards to the gallery to see how they sell.

The photo is 3.5 x 4.75 inches on an A2 card. I have chosen thick white card which is 110lb card stock.

This is a Wilson Snipe taken at the wetlands at Big Lake.  I was very fortunate that he just posed for several minutes for me.

This card features Allium Purple Sensation.

This is a Red Dahlia I took at the park.

This is a Swallow on a brace a the Big Lake wetlands.

You can purchase these photo cards. Check my R2Give Cards page.
