Card Making - More

The card making continues. The card bases are Barely Banana from the Scrapping Kit - "In Full Bloom".  The stickers are wonderful.

I added a layer of vellum from the Botanical Garden Vellum 6x6 inch pack.

On the left, I cut a layer of vellum.  I adhered the stickers then I could put some double sided tape behind them to attach to the card. A yellow day with bees a buzzing. Once attached I added a leaf border sticker across the bottom of the vellum.  On the right I chose some of the designer paper and ripped the right hand side away from me not to leave a white core edge. I added some vellum to complete the right hand side. Taped togehter then adhered to the card front. I added a couple small stickers on the right bottom corner. 

Here I have chosen Lavender Lace card stock which was not part of the kit but matches well.

I used vellem again on both cards. Double sided tape behind the stickers placed on the front of the vellum pieces. Bees and flowers from the Simply Scrapping kit. White quarter sheet inserts with white envelopes. 

I will be sending off the leftovers from the kits to the thrift store and I have just that little bit less in my craft room.  I want to use that watercolor background paper soon.  It has been a bit of whirl wind session of card making but I acheived the number of cards for both events I was plannng for. The trip south was great. Loved being able to get away again after being stuck close to home unpacking.

17 - Bird on Branch

I penciled in my branches and bird then applied yellow and orange watercolor wash inside the border.

I traced my pencil markings with a Micron black marker then did the frame as well.

I wanted the composition to go beyond the border.

Decorative Paper Cards

I'm delivering another set of card to the gallery. 

This is a wedding card featuring some of my own decorative paper.

I selected a dusty purple card.

I embossed a background white layer with the D'Vine folder and trimmed it to leave a small border.
I cut the decorative paper with one of the Stampin Up Apothecary framelits.  I added iridescent flower sequins on each point held in place with a pale purple tiny brad. I wrapped metallic thread around each of them and tied the ends in the middle and left the ends hand in the center of the card. 
I punched hearts with the Stampin Up Sweetheart punch from white card.  I embossed the left one with the Cuttlebug Script folder and the right with the Swiss Dots folder. These were adhered to the center of the card with tape on the left and 3D foam tape on the right. This card includes bilingual greetings.
 

I started with the teal and brown decorative paper. I selected a warm brown card. 

I punched the Martha Stewart Arches Lattice border from teal card stock. I taped 2 of them together,then added a brown layer and then a strip of the decorative paper. The accent was adhered to the bottom of the decorative layer.

I punched a butterfly with the Sizzix Winged Beauties thinlit set. I used a marker to darken the body adn then adhered it to the card front with 3D foam tape.

I selected a piece of decorative paper featuring several greens and some golden yellow.

I chose a dark green textured olive card.

I ripped a piece of textured yellow card stock by Bazzill - Mexican Poppy on both top and bottom edges.  I wrapped a piece of olive grosgrain ribbon and taped the ends to the back.  I adhered that to the bottom part of the card.

I added 5 small golden yellow handmade paper flowers across the ribbon.  These are held in place with mini brads in olive.

I chose a very bright decorative paper which included yellow, pink, and teal.

I paired it with a golden yellow card.

I punched a piece of card stock same as the card with the Fiskars Ribbon Threader punch and ripped the bottom edge.

I ran a bright pink ribbon through it and taped the edges to the back.  This was adhered to the card front toward the bottom of the decorative paper.

I created a flower accent in the top left hand corner with 3 flower punches with the 3 colors.

I have offered this card with bilingual greetings should the person want them.

Card Club - June - Star Birthday

I printed the greeting layer.  I wrapped the diecut open border around both ends and taped the ends to the back of the white layer.  I placed the black polka dots washi tape below the greeting.  I ripped the bottom edge of the greeting layer then adhered it to the card front. Decide on the placement of your star brads.  I used a push pin to create holes through the card front then placed the prongs of the red star brads through spreading them apart on the inside of the card. 

Christmas Card Challenge - May - Textiles

Working on Christmas cards again this month.  The challenge for May was textiles - Fabric, Felt, Velvet, Ribbon, Tulle, Lace. I'm sure there something else you can think of.
I chose this red felt die cut ribbon.  I wanted something simple and elegant.  I stuck with a mostly white on white design.  I chose a white card and then layered a white layer embossed with the Cuttlebug Swiss Dots folder.  I cut the straight edges of the ribbon and trimmed the cut ends to make then prettier.  I layered a white silk flower onto a white poinsettia held in place with a blue brad.  I used another blue brad to hold down the other half of the ribbon.  The greeting is a SU Modern Label punchie in navy with a color printed greeting punched with the SU Word Window.  The greeting is raised with 3D foam tape. 

Card - Christmas Felt Ribbon

Here's another sample I made for my May Christmas card challenge.  I started with the ribbon.  I selected a navy card with a gold card stock layer embossed with the SU Petals a Plenty folder.  This was glued to the card front.  I placed the ribbon across the card then placed the double poinsettias to the right hand side.  I added a red sequin onto the brushed gold brad then placed it into the centre of the flowers then into the hole made with a push pin.  Once placed the prongs are spread on the inside of the card.  I added 2 more brushed gold brads on either end of the ribbon, inserted in holes made with a push pin.  The greeting is color printed and punched with the SU Word Window punch which is layered onto a SU Modern Label punchie.  This accent is mounted onto the card front with 3D foam tape.

Card - Textiles Experiment

This is my first attempt at a card for my May Christmas Card Challenge - Textiles.  The shimmery, sheer material is stuff I bought a Dollarama on a roll.  It is quite stiff so proved a challenge to use. I chose an ivory card and stamped greeting in red in the bottom right hand corner.  I laid a strip of double sided tape across the card and pressed the organza material onto it as I made folds in it.  I then selected this red felt border which I laid over the folds I had made.  I punched 3 MS Snowflake punchies from ivory shimmery card stock and placed them along the border and held them in place with red brads.  I added 2 red brads in the most left and right holes to keep the felt securely in place.  I don't think I will make more.  I will move on with the red felt border and see what else I can create.

Thanks - Scallop Border

I made this card for my card exchange group.  I started with a pink card that a spritzed with white pearly but it doesn't not show like I expected.  I cut the Scallop Border with a Sizzix sizzlet die.  Cut it in half and centered them on the top and bottom edges.  I cut the greeting with a Memory Box thin die.  I used snail adhesive to glue it to the centre space of the card.  I added a blue satin ribbon on the left.  I placed a slit in the card fold and pulled it through and taped the ends in place. I tied a knot onto the first piece with a short piece of the same ribbon. 

Challenge - Spring Tulip

I made this card for a challenge - Spring.  Tulips are really flowers of spring so that is what I selected. I used a Sizzix die to cut the tulip in green then cut the flower itself again in pink with white polka dots.  I glued it over the green.  I embossed the turquoise card with a Cuttlebug border embossing folder on the right hand side.  Placed a strip of textured cardstock next to it coordinating with the pink blossom. I did not have room for all the leaves of the die so I trimmed them down by hand to fit.  Happy Spring despite it snowing today.

Card Club - Flocked border

I found this flocked border at a Dollar store.  I thought it was so gorgeous.  I created a greeting for this sketch and color printed them.  The greeting is trimmed close to the frame.  I coordinated one word in the greeting to the card color.  I used a couple of embossing folders (Cuttlebug Victorian and Stampin Up Finial Press) in the kits.  I cut the colored square with a Sizzix original die. The embossed layer was glued to the card front.  I discovered after I made my sample that the border was adhesive to the brads are purely decorative. This design is versatile to accommodate a variety of colors and occasions. I made up kits in several colors with several greetings (Thanks, sympathy, birthday).
