Card - Birthday Card - Embossed Vellum

This is my first color embossed vellum on this printer.  It worked well.

I used vellum adhesive but I should have used brads. The vellum was curling from the humidity.

Old Olive A2 card base in portrait orientation. I used my own daisy with dirt design with purple flower and greeting. I printed it on quarter sheet vellum and quickly covered it with clear embossing powder and heated it.

I added a pink circle behind and a Bling Zot between the vellum and circle right under the center circle. The pink turned the yellow center orange.

Delivered it in person and we had pizza for supper after the art sale.

 

Watercolor HB Card

This is a card for an aunt who is celebrating a birthday this week.

I trimmed the watercolor panel to align with the left and right hand side of the SU Marina Mist card base. Placed the ripped edge at the bottom and the clean edge along the top.

I added an SU Old Olive grosgrain ribbon wrapped around the card front and knotted it.

Cards - Donation - Teacher Appreciation

This set of cards feature more decorative paper.

The top card has a layer of Japanese origami paper mounted onto a Stampin Up Summer Sun card base. 

I added daisy punchies in green and gold with round sequins in the center and held in place with green mini brads.

This card is again the gorgeous Summer Sun card base.

I mounted a layer of SU designer paper in strips. 

I added a strip of Early Espresso cardstock across the top onto which I knotted some yellow cotton thread.

I added 3 maple leaf punchies mounted with Bling Zots.

The bottom card is an Old Olive card base with watercolor leaf designer pape from Stampin Up.

I added a length of the same green card stock across the top.

I then cut 2 stars with the Sizzix Stars#2 die with sharp points. Layered these and then mounted them onto the bar.

Again quarter sheet inserts and envelopes.

Flooring Project - Thank You cards

I made a few Thank You cards for those who helped in this big flooring project. 

This was for the sister and her husband who came to the city to help me remove the carpet from the living room and dining room and expose the cement floor on a very hot and sweaty day.

I chose Stampin Up Rich Razzleberry card base in A2 size. I dipped into my commercially made handmade paper and cut a piece of this wax resist in teals, rich purples with swishes of gold.

I left the beautiful deckle edge on the bottom and taped it to the card front.

I stitched 3 small gold beads in the top right hand corner.

A white insert and envelope.

This card has an Old Olive card base.

I chose an origami paper front layer which was taped on.

I added a gold star sequin in the left hand corner.  To balance I added 2 square brads in the bottom right hand corner with a green one in the middle.

This paper has beautiful gold details.

This card is for the folks from whom I bought the flooring which answered all my questions during the process.

I chose a SU Kraft A2 card base for this card.

The front of the this card is a piece of botanical pressed wax paper.  A nice little flower and a piece of green leaf.  It needed to be mechanically adhered as it resisted taping.  

I wrapped a length of gold thread around the top a few times and then knotted it.  I then place the gold mini brad over the knot and pressed it through the card front. I added a gold bulb pin in the bottom right hand corner which went through the wax paper and card stock front.

A white half sheet insert to hide the metal pieces which have gone through the card stock.

A white envelope to finish it off.

This is for the flooring company which recommended the underlay which saved the project.

This card is for my niece who dropped everything on the Monday morning to pick up the 2 large rolls of underlay and deliver them to my brother in law who was going to install the floor.  Saved me a round trip to the south.

The card base is SU Always Artichoke.  I found this piece of lacy handmade paper in the stash.  Lightly glued to a piece of white card stock.  Trimmed to fit across the card front and taped in place.

I added a coordinating button with gold thread held in place with a Zot. White insert and envelope.

Started with a piece of Not Quite Navy card stock.  

Layered a piece of marbled paper in blue tones with copper accents on the card front.  I added a copper star sequin held in place with a Zot.  Then I added a coordinating bead held in place with a star copper tiny brad.

White insert and envelope. 

This is for my brother in law who installed the floor and my sister who hosted me at her house.  We did a few fun things while he was working at my place. There was a bottle of scotch delivered with the card.

I am loving the lacy curtains casting a wonderful shadow on the vinyl floor!

Simple Sentiments - Photo - Set 2

Another set of photo cards. 

I chose a different presentation for this set.

I chose Stampin Up Soft Suede as the A2 card base, scored in half and folded.

The accent layer is Really Rust cardstock cut to a quarter sheet and cut with the SU Top Note die.  Once cut I then cut it in half cross wise with the paper cutter and then trimmed the center points off with scissors.

I trimmed the photo to 3.5 inches wide to perfectly align with the widest spot on the half Top Note.  This was adhered with tape on the back then process repeated for the bottom half.

I chose a green-brown grosgrain ribbon to lay over the join of the photo and the die cut.  It was pull to the back and taped down with tape.  This layer was then adhered to the front of the card.

A white insert and envelope finished off the card.

This card features a Jacob's Ladder blossom taken at the Botanic Park.

I chose SU Elegant Eggplant for the card base and Lavendar Lace for the Top Note layer.

I ran a piercing tool over the photo to mirror the stitched edge on the Top Note layer. 

The grosgrain ribbon is Certainly Celery.

This flower is called a Late Tulip.  I don't remember where to found it.

The cardbase is Daffodil Delight which is half a sheet, scored in half and folded.

The Top Note layer card stock is Old Olive.  Same process to trim sides.

I found some nicely matching grosgrain ribbon in my stash to put over the joins.

A quarter sheet insert and white envelope. 

This card features a Copper Skipper which is a butterfly that comes out in early spring.  Usually the first one I see on my walks.

The card base is Mellow Moss and the Top Note layer is Really Rust

I found some Stitched grosgrain ribbon to match the tones of this card.  It is a chocolate brown.

There are a couple of the cards in this set that came from the Nature Photo Calendars so they are more masculine and tones and colors. Works out to balance the set of cards.

This makes a nice set of cards. 

Set of Cards

I made a set of cards with one single sheet of designer paper.  The design is by graphic45 - Couture Collection - Gorgeous - I agree it is a beautiful floral paper. Rich colors and a dramatic black background.  This paper measures 12x12 inches. Cutting 4 inch strips I ended up with 6 pieces for A2 cards. With the direction of the design all the cards were created in the portrait orientation.

Next I selected card bases for these cards.  With the colors in the paper there was lots to choose from.  Finally, I chose Old Olive, Lost Lagoon, and Dusty Durango.

For card 1 I cut the layer down from the top and flipped the piece to show off the blue striped backside. I then added a strip of orange card stock across the split.

I added a Decorative Label greeting mounted with 3D foam tape. A white quarter sheet insert finished the card.

For card 2 I did the same layout but put the stripes on the bottom this time.  I laid a length of So Saffron ribbon across the split.

The base this time is Lost Lagoon.

I layered silk flowers in warm tones and a small gold sequin onto a tiny black brad to create the floral accent which I mounted on the bottom left hand side.  The brad was pushed through the designer paper keeping all layers together.

This layer was then adhered to the card front with double sided tape.

A white quarter sheet insert was added.

This is card 3.

Here I split the layer top to bottom instead of side to side. Once split I flipped the small piece and taped back the designer paper so I could handle it as a full piece.

I added a length of Apricot Appeal grosgrain ribbon over the split and taped the ends to the back.

I added a Dusty Durango butterfly accent on the bottom right side.  The butterfly was cut with the Sizzix Winged Beauties thin dies.  I used my steel plate to ensure all the tiny spaces were well cut. I wrapped black thread around the body of the butterfly and left the ends to be the antennae.  Adhered with double sided tape.

Quarter sheet insert completed the card.

Card 4 has an Old Olive card base.  

The designer paper was left at 4.00 x 5.25 inches.  

I wrapped a length of Baja Breeze ribbon across the middle and taped the ends to the back.  

I added a Artisan Label greeting with black letters which was adhered with 3 D foam tape over top of the ribbon on the right hand side.

A quarter sheet white insert completed the card.

Card 5 is similar to card three.

This time the ribbon is So Saffron which is wrapped over the designer paper top to the bottom with the ends taped to the back of the layer.

I added some Candy Dots to the left of the ribbon in pink tones to coordinate with the large flower near the bottom of the card.

Card 6 repeats the lay out of the DSP split with the striped paper on the bottom.  

A length of wide Tango Tangerine ribbon across the split with ends taped to the back.

I found 2 tiny turquoise blue buttons in my stash.  They are adhered to the ribbon with Bling Zots.

This makes a nice set of card with enough variety to be interesting.  Versatile in that some have greetings and others are left blank to used for any occasion.

Happy with this set which will given as a gift.

Card - Watercolor - Echinacea

I watercolored another flower for a birthday card.

I wanted to find another flower so I searched for an image.  This is an Echinacea or Cone Flower.  After making a light pencil tracing I used my Stampin Up Watercolor Wonder Crayons.  

I wet the paper very well then dabbed a bit of Night of Navy and Not Quite Navy at the top of the paper and Always Artichoke and Old Olive on the bottom half.

I used Rich Razzleberry in several different intensities from light to more intense at the bottom of the petals. The petals have 3 to five layers on them. The centers are Daffodil Delight and More Mustard with a brown created.  Then, I used Always Artichoke and some Old Olive on the stems. I used an ultra fine Micron 005 black permanent marker to outline the flowers and stems.

Once it was dry, I adhered it to a A2 Rich Razzleberry card base with the fold at the top. I added a narrow strip of Always Artichoke card stock across the stems on the bottom. I then added a circle greeting with pink words and brushed the edges with the Always Artichoke ink pad.  It was placed just off center. I used a wet brush and clear water to soften the color.   I added a quarter sheet insert. 

Set of Cards and Greetings

I made a set of cards for my niece as a gift.  I chose designer paper and coordinating card bases.

The first 2 are the paisley paper with Kiwi Kiss, Soft Sky and Chocolate Chip bases with strips of Early Espresso and Choc Chip.

The bottom left and right are Basic Gray card bases with a coordinating designer papers. Featuring punched white card stock panels.  The punch is the Martha Steward Arche Lattice.

The top right is Old Olive card base with a coordinating designer paper with a ripped white card stock panel.  

The right is Groovy Guava card base with designer paper in soft warm blues and a ripped panel matching the card.

The bottom left took a while to figure out but found the card base needed to be Summer Starfruit. The designer paper is the same with the left strip turned to the other side. 

Middle right is a burgundy card base with a coordinating designer paper with a ripped white card stock panel.

The bottom right is Old Olive card base with striped designer paper with a ripped navy card stock panel.

The greetings included birthday, thinking of you in the colors of the cards I had made.

I added a pack of 3D foam tape to adhere them where ever on the card front she decided to use them.

The shapes included tags, circles and banners.

I hope she and her family will enjoy giving these cards throughout the year when special occasions arise and time is short.

This allows for a handmade card on a quick turn around.

Watercolor Cards - All Occasion

I needed a  few cards for upcoming birthdays so I decided to follow the trend of my Christmas cards and make them with watercolor.

I searched the internet for simple floral images - bouquets so that I could see how the stems interacted, etc.

I trimmed my 140lb water color paper to 3.5 x 3.5 inch squares.  Loosely following the compositions I found on line I drew flowers with a pencil.  Once I was happy with it I traced the pencil lines with black permanent marker again making adjustments if needed.

Once the ink was allowed to dry a bit I erased the pencil lines and was left with the black lines.  I used my Stampin Up Watercolor Wonder Crayons to match my card bases.

I chose flowers which were non specific so I could paint them any color, rather than recognizing the flower and saying that must be pink or whatever.  I also added some spatter of each color to tone down the white of the paper.

For the first card the flowers are a pale version of Rich Razzleberry and Garden Green for the leaves on a Pixie Pink card base.

Card number 2 is Elegant Eggplant card base with Old Olive for the stems.

Card number 3 is Marina Mist card base with Always Artichoke leaves and foliage.

I chose Mellow Moss grosgrain ribbon wrapped around the front of the card with the ends taped under the watercolor accent.

The floral watercolor is adhered to the card front with 3D foam tape. 

I decided to go with no greeting so I can use it for any occasion. 

Quarter sheet insert on the inside with A2 white envelope and 3 more cards ready to give.  One for my aunt, one for my sister and one for Mom.  I still have a couple of sisters who have birthdays this summer.  Another session to follow soon.

Exchange Cards - February - Watercolor Birds

 

These cards were made back in late January.  You can check the Watercolor Birds post.  This bird really adapted well to different coloring.  I was not sure it would.   

The left one was mounted to Old Olive card base and the right to Lovely Lilac.  They were spattered with brown watercolor by flicking the paint brush.  The ribbon is Soft Suede placed across the card and taped under the focal bird element.

These are off to my exchange partners.

Exchange Cards - Christmas Cards

I am playing catch up on my exchange cards.  With Dad`s hospitalization I have spent more time with Mom which involving traveling.   These are December`s cards then I will get the November and October ones done.

I chose Stampin Up Christmas Jingle designer paper because it had a green and red side.  I decided to make A7 or 5x7 inch cards. I printed a greeting layer of Very Vanilla with greetings in Real Red and Old Olive trimmed to leave a border all the way around. I punched 14 stars out.  Then applied thin 3D tape to the bottom ones and thicker 3D tape to the top ones.  The top ones match the card base color.  I placed them in a round shape to create a wreath. I added a Real Read wide grosgrain ribbon below the wreath and taped the ends to the back.

I adhered the greeting layer to the card front and pressed them over night.  This morning I added the prism elements of a snowflake on one and a star on the other adhered with Bling Zots.  I then added a thin gold cord bow to the wreath.

These are headed to my exchange partners. 

Watercolor on Handmade Paper

More reusing supplies from old card kits.  I just loved these small white handmade paper sheets and could not just give them away.  I have painted daisies on these in the past but I wanted to create new art on these.

I am using my Stampin Up Watercolor Wonder crayons in rich regals and brights color families.

This one is an abstract flower in the blue green color family.

I had to trim the handmade paper because the other flowers were not great.  This required an additional layer so i chose some Old Olive on some Not Quite Navy card base.

I always adhere handmade paper to cards with hot glue.  It works the best but you have to be fast before it cools.

This card features a multitude of pinky orange abstract flowers again.  Regal Rose and Old Olive are the colors used.

I did try to put a background of subtle color which did not really work great.

Each card gets a white blank insert on the inside.

I signed each one as well.

I started with abstract shapes on this piece of handmade paper.  

The colors used are Tango Tangerine and Marina Mist.

I dug through my bling box and found these butterfly confetti sequins which were the right blue color.  I then added them to the handmade paper sheet with orange tiny brads.

I like the fact that there are 2 different designs of butterfly.

Makes me think Santa Fe coloring.

This card features Bravo Burgundy as the color in several shades for the flowers.  I was thinking of roses when I painted but I am not sure I succeeded.

Always Artichoke for the stem and leaves with a bit of mixed brown thrown in for good measure.

A bit of spattering in the main colors to lessen the white background.

I tried following the design of the small deep teal handmade paper flowers I had selected as inspiration.  

I had to remind myself - Stick to the 5 petals and make them rounder than usual.  Always Artichoke for the stem and long open leaves.

I mounted the small pale yellow flower then the bit larger teal one onto the watercolored on with a tiny white brad.

I painted the flower with More Mustard and a bit of Daffodil Delight with a lot of long slender petals. I think I should have overlapped some of them.

I really needed Summer Sun to match the card base but I did not get the yellow mix quite as good as I hoped.

A mix of greens and blues for the closed long leaves.

I mounted a small yellow handmade paepr flower in the center of the watercolored one, held in place with a tiny white brad.

These no greeting cards could go into the cards for seniors box but I am not sure yet.

Love the painting.

Miniature Watercolors into Cards

I was inspired by a photography challenge to produce some art and I chose watercolor.  

I opened a pad of water color paper bought at a scrapbook store. There is no indication of the weight of the paper so I was not getting my hopes up.  

I cut down a sheet about letter sized into 4 smaller pieces.  Some square and others not.  I pulled out my Stampin Up Watercolor Wonder Crayons so I can match it will card stock later.

This one is a bit of a landscape with a tree, flowers, the sun and a few birds flying in the sky.  The paper worked really well in this small size.

I paired it with a piece of Bashful Blue leaving a tiny border and ripped the bottom edge.  I mounted that onto a piece of Passion Pink card base.  Stamped a greeting with Old Olive with a set of small clear stamps. I spattered the card once it was finished.

This next card features just a little watercolor using the wet in wet technique.  I sprayed the entire paper with clean water.  I then dropped spots of color - Rich Razzleberry, Regal Rose, Marina Mist and Old Olive. You can see where the colors mixed in place to produce a purple.  

I was going to define the pinks as flowers but I was happy with the composition so chose to stop.  I dried it with my heat gun and signed the bottom.  It was spattered with a bit of green.

I cut a banner of Bashful Blue and mounted it across an Elegant Eggplant card base.  Stamped the greeting again in the Old Olive color.  The watercolor was adhered to the card front with 3D foam tape.

I started the composition with flowers in mind. I dropped the Regal Rose pink with a bit of Daffodil Yellow and the soft green of Old Olive in the background.  It was dried with the heat gun.

I then used a black Micron Permanent Black Marker and drew my flower petals and leaves.  I chose to add a bit more color to the leaves and petals.

I mounted it to a piece of Regal Rose and ripped the left hand edge.  I stamped a several butterflies on the left hand side.

This layer was adhered to a Garden Green card base.

Each card has a white quarter sheet insert on the inside.

Sunflowers are in full bloom around here these days.  I love them. 

This is my attempt on a sunflower against a pale blue sky.  I used some More Mustard and Daffodil Delight in the flower and Always Artichoke with Old Olive in the leaves. I mixed the brown for the center.

It was spattered with much watered down Old Olive once it has been dried with the heat gun.

Again layered on a piece of Bashful Blue ripped on the right hand side. Stamped the greeting in Old Olive. 

The thank you ones will be donated to Compassion House and the others will be added to my card box. 

It was a lot of fun!

Sympathy Cards

I made a few sympathy cards to include in a set of cards for my Mom's birthday.

I chose Whisper White layer trimmed to leave a small border. I stamped the Berry Branch from the Simply Sketched stamp set with black permanent ink so I could watercolor the images.

The greeting is from the same set. 

I chose Old Olive and a bit of Always Artichoke for the leaves and Marina Mist for the berries.  My sister shared from her stash of Stampin Up Watercolor Wonder Crayons a set of the bright colors.  Thanks so much. 

I adhered the layer to the front of an Old Olive card base.  

Spattered a bit of green watercolor by flicking my brush just to soften the wide open white space.

For this card I switched up the orientation to landscape and used 2 stamps from the Simply Sketched set. The Poppy and the sentiment.

I used Real Red and some Regal Rose for the poppy.

Again, a bit of spattering with a flick of my brush.  Trimmed to 4.00 x 5.25 inches to leave a small border.

The card base is Pink Pirouette.

These have had white inserts with appropriate sentiments added to the inside of the card.

The Perched Bird from the Simply Sketched set with the sympathy sentiment.

I chose to make a brown with red and green and added a breast of More Mustard.  The reeds are Always Artichoke.  I added some water below with Marina Mist.

This was cut to 2.75 x 4.25 inches.  I layered it onto a piece of brown card stock and then onto a textured card base in Ballet Blue.

Again, a bit of spattering with my brush.

I am adding these to a variety of others cards to make a set of 10 cards.  Mom who is in her eighties still makes cards but it's nice to a stash ready when she is not up to making a card.

I am looking forward to seeing her.

Balloon Cards

I painted some balloons with watercolor.  I chose my Watercolor Wonder Crayons from Stampin Up to match the card stock I am using. 

I did draw a slight image to follow in pencil on heavy white card stock.  

I chose Always Artichoke green, More Mustard yellow and Bravo Burgundy with Cherry Cobbler red for the balloons.  

I added strings with a black permanent marker once the piece was completely dry and pressed flat.  I signed the art as well. 

I added a length of Bravo Burgundy grosgrain ribbon across the bottom o the card with ends taped to the back.  

I added a Modern Label punchie color printed greeting with a More Mustard offset to match the card base in the same color.  This was adhered with 3D foam tape.

Another balloon card.  I chose Old Olive, More Mustard, Not Quite Navy and Real Red card stock for the balloons.  

I cut them out of scraps of cardstock with my Create Cricut electronic cutting machine using the Create a Critter cartridge.   I cut them at 3", 2.75" and 2.5" inches.  I tied black thread onto them for strings.  I added white highlight spots on each of them with a white opaque marker.

Added a piece of sky designer paper which I warmed up with some warm yellow chalk pastel applied with a stipple brush and adhered to the front of an Old Olive 5x7 card base.  I then assembled the balloon bouquet with the ones farther back adhered to the sky paper, then the next ones with 1 layer of 3D foam tape then the small red one in front with 2 layers of 3D foam tape.   This adds depth to the composition.

I taped all the string to a central spot.

I added a ripped color printed greeting over the strings with 3D foam tape.

Birthday Cards

I made a few cards for my upcoming family birthdays.

I started with a card base in Not Quite Navy. 

I printed the sail boat from the Sail Away stamp set on Whisper White in black.  I used the Stampin Up Watercolor Wonder Crayons to color the image.  Night of Navy for the water, Not Quite Navy for the sky and Cherry Cobbler for the sails.  It was trimmed to 4.00 x 5.25 inches.

I printed the greetings in black on white card stock.

I flagged the right hand end of the greeting and mounted on the card front with 3D foam tape.

I chose a Soft Sky card base. I added a layer of Old Olive at 4.00 x 5.25 inches.  

I printed the grove from the Lovely as a Tree stamp set in black on white. 

I watercolored the image with Not Quite Navy for the sky.   A mixture of Always Artichoke and Garden Green for the grass and the trees. 

The image was trimmed to 3.5 x 5.00 inches and adhered to the green layer.

I printed the greetings in black on white card stock.

I trimmed the greeting and mounted on the card front with 3D foam tape.

I chose a Stampin Up Kraft card base.

I printed the Canada Goose from the Wetlands Stamp set in black on white card stock.

I mixed a color to match the Kraft card base which I used for the body of the bird, a lighter version for the breast and some greener version for the grass.

I printed the greetings in black on white card stock.

I chose the same color mixed earlier to shade the edges of the flagged greeting.  It was mounted to the card front with 3D foam tape. 

A couple of these off to those who are celebrating in July.

Cardmaking - CH - Class 2

Style 3 -  Square - The designer paper chosen is Stampin Up Autumn Spice.  The card color selected is Old Olive. The designer paper was cut to 4 inches square.  The edges were rubbed with an Early Espresso ink pad. It was adhered to the card in a portrait orientation.

The buttons are from Stampin Up and matches the card color. I tied a length of Early Espresso thread through the button which was knotted and trimmed.

The greeting was color printed in Cajun Craze and clear embossed.  They were cut apart to 1" tall.  I ripped the top and bottom edge.  It is held in place with Zots. Once placed the button was adhered with a large Zot to the left of the words of the greeting.

Style 2 - DSP Split - I chose cool colored designer papers.  The 4 inch x 5.25 inch piece is cut at 3.5 inches then the 2 pieces are taped back together.

I added a piece of white grosgrain ribbon across the join and tape the ends to the back of the layer.  I created an accent of silk flowers starting with a tiny pink handmade paper one on the white brad, then the aqua one, a raspberry colored one, then the final large white one.  A hole was made through the designer paper layer with a push pin, the prongs were pushed through and the prongs spread apart on the back.

The layer was then adhered to the front of a deep burgundy card.

The greeting was printed on white card stock, punched and it was adhered to the card front with 3D foam tape.  The card works without a greeting as well.

Style 1 - Ripped 4 inch - The designer paper is cut to 4 x 5.25 inches.  It is ripped and the pieces are positioned to the edges leaving the orange card showing in between.

I chose a butterfly accent color printed and punched with the Stampin Up Decorative Label.  The colors on this one is Tango Tangerine and So Saffron.  This label is adhere to the card front with 3D foam tape.

I had 7 ladies in the class tonight.  They had a good time.  A couple of the girls had experience which was very nice.

Perfect as all kits are used and I can move onto another sketch for the next class.

Tea for Two

I started with the sentiment which I had printed and embossed when I made my other tea card.

I chose to make it a Stampin Up card so I decided on Night of Navy, Old Olive as a color scheme. The sentiment is printed in Old Olive and is from the Tea Shoppe Stamp Set. It was clear embossed on the vellum.
I created a piece of background paper with the Tim Holtz Distress Stain - Crushed Olive mostly and a bit of Mustard Seed.
I cut a piece of Kiwi Kiss card stock into a large banner and adhered that to the front of a Night of Navy card. Then I trimmed the back ground paper and the vellum to leave small even borders on each of those.
I printed a cup from the Tea Shoppe Stamp set on Whisper White and fussy cut around the image with scissors and an exacto knife.  I adhered it above the sentiment with 3D foam tape.  I then placed double sided tape behind the cup and adhered the vellum to the background paper.  Now, I adhered the background layer to the Kiwi Kiss banner.
I measured the center and a point on each side which I punched out the side ones with a 1/8 inch hole punch. I cut a length of Night of Navy Tafetta Ribbon and tied it in a knot above the cup.
