Card - Birthday - Sunflower

A birthday card for someone special who is coming to visit.  It's been a while and I am looking forward to it.

A bright green linen card stock base in the self closing card style. It measures 6x12 scored at 5.5 and just under 1".

I cut the Spellbinder Sunflower from 2 shades of yellow and the leaf from a deep green. The center from dark brown to which I added gold accents with watercolor metallic gold.

I cut the SU DSP to 5.5 x 5.75" then cut again at 2.5" to create a DSP Split card. I taped the 2 piece together at the back then ran a length of deep green grosgrain ribbon across the join. Then I adhered it to the card front.

I then taped the leaf to the right upper corner, then the sunflower with well placed tape then added 3D foam tape to the center and placed onto the flower.

A white insert and carrier tape on the flap.  I am using a clip on this one so she can reuse the card with a new insert.

Love it!

Sunflower HB

I made this card for an aunt who is celebrating a birthday this month.  She is a painter so I thought part of the card should be painted so I created a painted background.  I chose Cobalt Blue, Cadmium Yellow and Sap Green in the Folk Art brand to paint the background onto yellow parchment card stock.  I wanted to create the illusion of sunflower fields.
I cut the Spellbinder Sunflower die from bright yellow and golden yellow and the centre from warm brown.  I chose a card from the same card stock as the centre of the sunflower.  I cut a leaf from green card stock.  I cut the greeting from the same golden yellow card stock as one of the layers of the sunflower with the Memory Box Grand Happy Birthday die.  This was trimmed to leave a small border on 3 sides and adhered to the bottom of the background layer.  I then layered the flowers and the leaf which were adhered with Quick Dry adhesive.  I embossed the brown center with a polka dot embossing folder from Cuttlebug.  This was adhered to the center of the flower.  I adhered this layer to the card front.  I needed something above the sunflower so I added 3 birds in the sky with a black marker.  Really happy with the way it turned out.

Card - Sunflowers are Yellow Flowers

The home page challenge on CST is yellow flowers.  Sunflowers are my favorite and I have not used this die in a long time.

I cut the Sunflower die by Spellbinder twice, once in gold yellow and another in a deeper yellow.  I found some navy blue gingham checkered designer paper which worked.  I matched the color of the card to one of the sunflowers.  I added a piece of yellow grosgrain ribbon across the designer paper below the flower. Taped it to the back then adhered it to the card front.  I added 3 small navy buttons held in place with Zots.  Punched a navy Stampin Up Scallop Circle then added a navy blue printed 1.25" circle greeting in the centre.
