2026 - Quilt 02

My second quilt of 2026 is done - Musical - Orange Strips Quilt.

Accents - I chose to make the columns random so there was little chance of my seams looking misaligned.  I chose an orange cotton poly blend and added random strips which were appliques to the 11" fabric squares.  I then added gold sash pieces in different heights and placements to ensure that my columns in the end where the same length.

Quilting - This was done randomly based on the shapes that were in each column.  The thread is a gold color.

Batting - The batting is a flannel sheet.

Binding - I was advised to make the binding orange and I am glad I listened.  It did mean changing my mind about the self binding I was going to make with the gold backer.  Cut to 3" folded in half, sewed to the front and fold over to the back. Stitched right next to the binding from the front to catch the fold over on the back. I followed this video for the installation of the binding and will likely continue this process.

Measurements: 40.75"W x 65" T

It took time over 4 days to get it done. It will be donated to Project Linus.

Note: I made my seam attaching the bind generous because of the width of the binding but in the end I had to trim the quilt edge to have the binding fold over nicely. Not sure what happened there.

It is hanging on the the dowel I set up above the trim on the closet doors in the craft room. You can see more details on it here.

Ready 2 Go Christmas Card Kit - Set 10

Working on card kits for my stack card class on November 4th.

I started with a red card in the landscape orientation.

I added a piece of red plaid metallic paper which was cut to 4.00 x 5.25 inches and adhered to the front

I added the Christmas green tree brad to the gold foil NOEL label cut with the Stampin Up Apothecary Framelits. I made a hole with a push pin, inserted the brad and pressed the prongs apart at the back. I added 2 pieces of 3D foam tape and adhered it to the card front.

The gold fabric snowflake was adhered in the top left hand corner with a Bling Zot.

I started with a red card in the portrait orientation.

I cut a layer of green card stock to 4.00 x 5.25 inches.  I added a length of red cotton ribbon aligned left of center and taped the ends to the back. The layer was then adhered to the card front.

The musical holly accent square as adhered to the card front over the ribbon with 4 pieces of 3D foam tape.

I added a greeting in the bottom right hand corner.  It was color printed and punched out with the Stampin Up Modern Label punch.

It was adhered to the card front with 3D foam tape.

You can check out my R2G card kits on the tab above.

Mosaic Monday - Beauty and the Beast

I got a call from my sister asking if I would like to attend a performance of the Beauty and the Beast as they had an extra ticket.  I decided to go.

It was wonderful.  The set design was exquisite in my opinion.  The performers were great. The music and the singing was excellent.  We were on the main level about 15 rows from the front on the left hand side, very good seats.

Of course, we could not take photos during the performance which  was disappointing.

There were little girls everywhere.  Some in yellow dresses, some all dressed up with tiaras like a princess, some not in costume but all of them excited!!!

Thanks for the great experience.

I'm submitting my post to Judith's Mosaic Monday.
