Exchange Card - May

These cards are for my card exchange partners.

I started with the aqua handmade paper flowers then chose the Stampin Up Fresh Prints designer paper then the pink card base.

This card has a Stampin Up Pretty in Pink card base with a designer paper layer featuring the color of Coastal Cabana which matches super well.

I layered a white flower sequin, a yellow handmade paper flower by Prima, then a white silk flower, the large handmade paper flower and lastly a large white card stock daisy punchie onto a white tiny brad.  Once aligned I pressed it into the DSP and press the prongs apart on the back.

The card base was scored at 1.5 inches then 5.75 inches and folded to the front to create an offset fold.

The flower accent layer was adhered to the card front with double sided tape just on the left hand side so the Coastal Cabana DSP would overlap the small flap.

The card on the right has the same accent layer of die cut flowers and DSP in Coastal Cabana as the one above.

The card base for this one is Pink Passion which is a deeper version of the one above.

These are headed off to my card exchange buddies.

I added a white quarter sheet insert and a white envelope.

Exchange Cards

I decided on hexagons for this month's exchange cards.

They are cut with the Spellbinder Nestabilities set.   I chose a true blue card base in the landscape orientation.

I added a length of red grosgrain ribbon wrapped toward the top of the card.

I added 3 blue hexagons adhered along the ribbon.  I chose one red hexagon and a greeting.  The greeting is color printed and punched with the Stampin Up Modern Label.

I chose a kraft gate fold card base and included an ivory insert.

I used the Stampin Up Wonder Watercolor crayons to add some texture to the card front.  I used Riding Hood Red, Always Artichoke and More Mustard.  The color was applied with a natural sea sponge.

I mounted 3 hexagons with the adhesive on the left hand side so the card will still open.  They were cut from warm tones card stock.

These are off to my card exchange partners.

Gate Fold Card - Rounded Squares

I just love this decorative card stock I used for Card Club here.

I punched squares 1.5" and 1.25". The smaller from the patterned and larger from the blue green solid and corner rounded 2 opposite corners.  I created a gate fold card which brings the 2 side flaps to meet in the middle of the card.  I adhered the decorative one over the solid one for each of the four with it aligned to one corner.  I placed  close corners all to the center of the element on either side of the split. I created the greeting accent with a strip of decorative card stock with the corners rounded then a banner from the solid and a Stampin Up Word Window greeting adhered onto the banner.  The banner is adhered with 3D foam tape.  The greeting was then adhered to the left hand side flap which goes across the card nicely when it is folded flat.  You can see in the smaller picture the card opened.  This will be headed out to one of my card exchange friends.

I'm submitting it to the Cute Card Thursday Challenge - More than one fold.

R2G Card Kits - Valentine - Antique Map Heart

I started with the antique map heart.  I used my Cricut with the Folk Art Festival cartridge to cut the solid heart at 3". with a 4" sheet on portrait I was able to cut 4 per 12 inches. I created a gate fold card from kraft card stock.  I scored from each end at 2 1/8".  When I folded the card I made sure I had a bit of a space left in the middle.  The antique map designer card stock is by Gartner - Bon Voyage - Map. It is double sided with solid red on the back.  I cut a .75 x 5.5" strip and adhered it to the back side of the left hand flap leaving at half showing which creates this thin red line when the right hand flap is in place.  I placed adhesive on only one half of the heart and adhered it to the left hand fold. I aligned the centre of the heart over the red line. I think it makes a classy simple card.  The fact that the right hand flap is sandwiched between the red strip and the heart keeps the card closed.  Works well!

Alternative: Turn the heart over and you have a red heart!  It works well on the kraft card.

Card Club - Jan - Gatefold with Square Accent

The girls at card club have asked for cards for specific occasions. I included baby, wedding, and heart cards in this kit. I started with a purple card and scored at 2 1/8 from either side which will create a gate-fold card where two side flaps fold to the center.  I added pieces of designer paper on each flap.  I color printed the square accents which were layered onto a 2.5x2.5 inch piece of white card stock.  The insert is placed on the center panel and was cut to 4" x 5.25"

Card - Challenge #20 - Square Card

I made this card for CST challenge #20 which was make a square card.  I started with a piece of double sided cardstock measuring 4.25x12" and scored it at 2, 4 and 8, 10".  Folded 2 inches at each end back then folded the halves over the centre for a gatefold card. I unfolded the card and I put the ends over one edge of the Tim Holtz ornamental die to create the fancy edge.  I tacked down the beige fancy edges and placed a 1/8 hole in the centre for the ribbon. I then cut a Sizzix wavy frame in a coordinating cardstock. I glued 3 sides down leaving the top open it on card inside.  I printed a greeting on vellum and trimmed it to 3" and slid it behind the frame.  Pulled the gold organza ribbon through the holes and tied the card closed.
