Garden Week - Card

I made this card for the Home Page Card Challenge at CST.  The challenge is to choose a holiday in April and make a card to go with it.  I chose Week 2 which is Garden Week.
I chose one of my 4 inch photos featuring a beautiful pink tulip. I cut it with the Die-namics Stitched Square Frame thin dies which gives me the frame and the inner square. I trimmed the inner square with the paper cutter to make it a bit smaller than the opening of the frame. I chose a pink card which matched the tulips very well.  I adhered the stitched frame to the card front.  The center square is adhered with 3D foam tape to raise it a bit.  Now the border of pink shows through the frame.  I embossed the bottom edge of the card with the Cuttlebug Nathaniel`s Penwork border embossing folder.  I will have to work out how to get it centered on the card but it is the perfect width so I will work it.

Asian Kimono

I made this card for a challenge to make an Asian card.

I designed this kimono pattern years and years ago. I printed it on the back of the designer paper and cut it out with scissors.  I chose dark burgundy background paper and spattered it with gold acrylic paint.  I mounted the background paper to a warm taupe card.  I placed a piece of gold metallic ribbon across the waist and I taped the ends to the back. I chose the scraps that I trimmed from background paper and placed one across the waist band and then 2 more around the neckline.  Once these were adhered and glued the kimono to the background paper on the card front.

Card - Sunflowers are Yellow Flowers

The home page challenge on CST is yellow flowers.  Sunflowers are my favorite and I have not used this die in a long time.

I cut the Sunflower die by Spellbinder twice, once in gold yellow and another in a deeper yellow.  I found some navy blue gingham checkered designer paper which worked.  I matched the color of the card to one of the sunflowers.  I added a piece of yellow grosgrain ribbon across the designer paper below the flower. Taped it to the back then adhered it to the card front.  I added 3 small navy buttons held in place with Zots.  Punched a navy Stampin Up Scallop Circle then added a navy blue printed 1.25" circle greeting in the centre. 

Challenge - Hearts

I started with a pink/purple paper heart doily from this project.  I selected a purple card to match and added a layer of moire gold decorative paper.  I traced the heart shape in the center of the doily onto to the back of the same gold paper and cut it by hand. I added 3 small flower sequins just off center on the gold heart and held them in place with tiny gold brads.  I stamped the Mr.&Mrs. by Stampin Up in black on a piece of coordinating card stock. I then punched it out with the SU Tab punch.  I mounted it to the card front with 3D foam tape.  I like the texture of the decorative paper and the paper doily.

HPC - Butterfly Trio

I made this card for the Home Page Card Challenge.  We were asked to use one of our new crafting supplies.  The butterfly is a new thin die for me. It's the Sizzix Winged Beauties thin dies.  I used the 2nd in size.  I had hoped to make the card landscape but 3 across does not fit so I switched the orientation to portrait.  I cut the butterflies from sparkly decorative paper. I applied adhesive just to the centre of the die. I layered them onto a banner of white and added thin borders of black card stock on either side.  I offset this accent to the left a bit.  I stamped some small flowers on the right hand side with black Onyx Versafine.  I added a black die cut banner from the Stampin Up Itty Bitty Banners.

Challenge - ATCs with a Theme

I created these 4 Artist Trading Cards for a Challenge on CST.  The challenge was to create 4 ATCs with a theme.
I chose to use paint chips in 4 different colors with 4 different words.  I cut my white paper to 2.5 x 3.5 inches.  Then I cut my paint chips with the Tim Holtz Stylized Labels.  I glued them to the top of the card and trimmed off the excess.  I stamped the music note from All Night Media in black onyx Versafine ink and clear embossed it. The words are handwritten with a fine black marker.  I then spritz the whole thing with Nick Bantock Lamp Black ink.

Challenge - Retro Clock

I printed the retro clock image on vellum with the greeting.  This clock has only the 4 quadrant numbers visible and just lines for the other numbers.  The angular hands are in keeping with the design.
I cut the vellum with my Creative Memories oval cutter then I cut the large black oval frame by using a step larger for the first cut then the same size as the vellum oval for the second cut creating the narrow frame.  I mounted these on a bright green card which I thinks keeps with the retro vibe.  The vellum is held in place with a tiny black brad in the center of the clock and vellum adhesive behind the greeting.

Card Challenge - Clock

Still another card for the CST Home Page Card Challenge.  It was to include a clock on the card.  I found some images of clock faces on line and printed them on vellum along with a greeting.
The clock face is vintage and the hands are just about the same size so a little harder to read the time.
This is a black card with script background designer paper.  The colors worked but the greeting gets lost in the background.  I punched the corners with my corner rounder. I added some definition to the hands from the back side of the vellum with a fine black marker to help with the readability of the time. Again a tiny black brad in the centre of the clock and some vellum adhesive behind the greeting.

Challenge - Pink Clock

Here's another card for the Home Card challenge at CST which is a card with a clock on it. I printed them on vellum.
This clock has the circle separated into wedges of color for each number. The hands of the clock are black and quite dainty. It has red second hand.
For this card I chose a dark brown card with a red tone to it.  I mounted a piece of salmon colored polka dot designer paper leaving a large border.  I then cut the vellum to smaller than the DP so it would leave a border as well.  I put a tiny black brad in the center of the clock and some vellum adhesive under the greeting.

Challenge - Card with clock

The Home Card challenge at CST is a card with a clock on it.  I searched the web for some pretty clock faces and selected four. I placed them on a quarter sheet and added a greeting and printed them on vellum.

The one on the left here has roman numerals and some hints of blue on the background.  I selected a turquoise card and added a warm yellow green designer paper with a pattern that was not too busy.  I cut the designer paper to leave a good border of the blue and then trimmed the vellum to be smaller than the DP. I placed a tiny black brad in the center of the clock and some vellum adhesive under the greeting and the top of the clock.

Challenge - Non Traditional Valentines

I made this card for a non traditional Valentine challenge.  I chose a deep brown card.  I embossed a ivory piece of card stock with the Sizzix Christmas Words & Dots Set by Hero Arts.  I selected a shiny thread which I wrapped around the ivory piece and tied into the button.  I cut the hearts with the Sizzix Tipsy Hearts die - one in brown like the card and one in pearl white.  The brown is embossed with Cuttlebug Script folder and the pearl with the Sizzix Tropical Paisley folder.  The background was adhered to the card then I mounted the hearts with 3D foam tape.  I adhered the button with a Zot.

Challenge - Dress Up a Die Cut

I made this card for a Dress Up a Die Cut challenge.  I started with an ivory card. I then cut a tea cup with the Cricut and the Folk Art Festival cartridge.  I used a bold graphic designer paper.   I added a row of daisies, punched with a Martha Stewart border punch.  I adhered it to the tea cup then trimmed it to the edges. I added a piece of black grosgrain ribbon across the centre and taped the ends to the back.  I added a oval shape below the cup to represent a saucer.  The tea cup was added over this piece.  I added a hand written tag with a flag end which is held in place with 3D foam tape.  I used a black ink pad to smudge the edges of the card.
