Card - Stitched Ribbon

Before I brougtht my stuff back from the Christmas store I thought I would be making more Fold Over Card Wallets.  I tested out stitching on this Aida cloth looking ribbon. It works well but use a blunt needle.

I put some pine trees in black and a bit of snow on the ground.

I did back this ribbon with a piece of black card stock to hide the thread transitions from tree to tree.

All was adhered with double sided tape.

I printed some new greetings.  This was black to match on a SU Decorative Label punchie then I offset a black punchie on the back.

A mounted on an ivory card base and gold gold decorative paper.  This is for a family birthday.

Cardmaking - Butterfly Cards

I made butterfly cards for IWin charity today.

I cut some of my bold watercolor paper with the Stampin Up Beautiful Butterflies Bigz die then I layered a MS Butterfly punchie over it.

I chose a Brilliant Blue card base and adhered a layer of paste paper in yellows and oranges.  A strip of Botanical Gardens vellumm was adhered on the right hand side.  The butterfly accent was adhered near th bottom right hand corner and the Modern Label punchie greeting was placed higher up on the card.

I placed double sided tape on the back of the vellum hidden by the 2 elements on the front.

White insert.

Another, Brilliant Blue card base in A2 size with portrait orientation.

I added a piece of blue metallic paper I made years ago.

I cut a strip of the watercolor paper in the orange tones and placed it just left of center.  It was not long enough so I cut it where the accent was going to be and aligned both ends with the edge of the metallic paper.  I then adhered the butterfly with 3D foam tape and the Modern Label punchie greeting with tape.

Added a white quarter sheet insert.

I chose an SU Only Orange A2 card base to match the brightness of the watercolor butterfly.

I added a layer of SU Botanical Garden vellum to tone it down a bit.  I added a strip of gold decorative paper on the left hand side.

The butterfly accent of 2 butterflies was adhered with 3D foam taper and the greeting had a Modern Label Punchie from the watercolor paper layered to the back of the SU Word Window punchie greeting.

Double sided tape was placed behind the vellum where it would be hidden by the elements on the front.

A white insert was added.
I chose a lilac A2 card base.

I chose some bright orange paste paper to coordinate with the larger watercolor paper butterfly.  To the larger butterfly I added the MS purple butterfly punchie held with Scotch Quick Dry adhesive.

I added a scrap strip of the Elegant Eggplant cardstock to match the small butterfly and adhered it to the left of center.

I added the greeting with 3D foam tape which is a SU Modern Label punchie from paste paper and a SU Word Window punchie.

A white insert was added.

Card - Butterfly Sympathy

I created a simple sympathy card for my aunt who lost my uncle recently.

I chose a deep burgundy card in the A2 landscape orientation.

I added a piece of warm purple paste paper trimmed to leave a bit of border top and bottom.

I cut a large butterfly with the Sizzix Winged Beauties thin die set from gold on deep purple cardstock.

I added a gold foil body to the butterfly and adhered it with double sided tape.

Cards - Gold Foil Diecut Sheets

I found some gold foil diecut sheets at the ReUse Center last week.  I decided to make all occasion cards with them.

The challenge with these is that attaching them will be tricky because I do not want to go through the card front.

Love the chevron pattern in this sheet.  Some thick and thin lines.

I chose dark brown card stock in 12x12 which I cut down to 8.5 x 11 inches then in half for a couple of  A2 card bases.

I cut 2 Tim Holtz leaves with the Mover and Shapers dies in my cutting tray.  I used the cut off from the the 12x12 so it matched perfectly.

I used my ancient Maple Leaf punch with some metallic gold card stock.

I ran a length of metallic gold ribbon all the way around the card front taping down the ends where the accent will be.

I used a gold star tiny brad through the leaves then through the card front but not through the ribbon on the inside.  I placed another star brad down at the bottom of the foil sheet.  Added a white quarter sheet liner and white envelope.

As always I try to make some wide and some tall layouts.

With this leafy diecut I chose a red card base, and cut a large flower with the Tim Holtz Tattered Flowers die.  The small flower was cut from the gold foil cardstock.

I placed the dark grey length of cardstock behind the diecut sheet, then made a hole in the center with a push pin.  I added a tiny gold flower sequin, then the smaller gold flower layered onot the larger one through the diecut and through he grey strip.

Once all was held together I adhered the grey strip to the card front with double sided tape. I did add a couple of bling zots behind the foil sheet and the grey card strip to prevent the sheet from pivoting on the brad.

For this card I chose a royal blue card stock. Again, cutting down a 12x12 sheet.

I used my Creative Memories double square punch to create perfectly layered squares.  I added a large flat gold brad onto the square accent.

I added 3D foam tape to adhere the layered squares to the gold foil diecut sheet.  That hid the prongs of the brad.

I then added 3D foam tape on the back of the foil diecut sheet and adhered it to the card front.

The square accent repeats the pattern the diecut which works really well.

This card has a dark green card base and a leafy gold foil diecut.   I layed it in the wide or landscape orientation.

I cut the Tim Holtz Bird on a Branch diecut cut from the left over from the 12x12.

I then cut just the bird from the gold metallic card stock and glued it on top of the green bird.

The gold diecut was adhered to the card front with Quick Dry adhesive with has a very fine tip to apply just a bit of glue on most of the leaves.  Press it down for a minute to have it stay in place.

I then adhered the green bird layer with Bling Zots under the bird and along the branch.  Again, white quarter sheet insert and white envelope.

This card has a black card base cut from the 12x12 sheet.

I used the leftover gold metallic card stock and cut 2 strips which I place behind the gold patterned diecut.

The small metallic flower sequins were adhered to the die cut with Bling Zots which also adhered it to the strips in places. Several behind the bird helped as well.

Then I placed double sided tape to the back of the gold strips and placed it on the card front.

I had allowed the strips to go over the top and bottom edges of the card so I just trimmed those with scissors.

A great set of cards in a pretty quick hurry.

Christmas Cards - Gold Foil Manger

I made another set of Christmas cards for by card box.

These are A2 sized at 4.25 x 5.5 inches.

I used the free gold foil card stock I received recently.  I cut the letter sized card stock into quarters. I placed it on the  Stampin Up Sunburst thinlit aligning the top left hand corner and ran it through the Big Shot.

The designer paper I selected is Crate Paper - Holly Collection - Garland  with a beautiful felt finish.  Love the soft colors. This piece was trimmed to 4.00 x 5.25 inches.

Based on this DSP I chose SU Pool Party as my card base. I used an extra half sheet of the same to punch my 2 inch circles.

I used the Penny Black Manger die on the gold foil card stock to coordinate.  I adhered the manger die to the 2 inch circle of Pool Party with a gold star tiny brad through the star in the die cut. I also added double sided tape behind the crib.

I applied double sided tape to the back of each of the rays in the sunburst. It was then aligned along the top left hand corner and press down.  I then trimmed the sunburst to the edge of the designer paper layer.  It was then adhered to the Pool Party card base.  I then adhered the circle manger accent to the middle of the sunburst with 3D foam tape.  I added a quarter sheet insert and an ivory envelope and they are ready to go.  Super happy with this set.

Card Kit Order - Single Simple Layout

I got a call from a friend this week asking if I was still making cards and kits.  Of course, COVID has put a hold on Card Club for the last 2 years.  Beside that, I got rid of lots of supplies when I de-cluttered for moving.  Many of my card making tools are in storage.  Despite that, I said yes.  I am needing a distraction.  She was looking for 20 kits as one of several activities for some down time for women attending camp this summer.  The kits needed to be simple and need few tools to assemble. These need glue, scotch tape and scissors. My Stampin Up card stock cupboard is full so that was good.  I had basic punches, ribbon, brads, and decorative paper.

I decided that all the greetings would be the SU Modern Label punch with a Word Window punchies of color printed greetings on white card stock.  I printed some Early Espresso, Black, and Night of Navy.

I decided that I would make the kits flexible so they could be orientated in tall (portrait) or wide (landscape). These 2 samples, instruction sheet, and extra greetings are being delivered in the bag. I have varied the decorative paper and coordinated the card base colors, the ribbon, and accents.  All the cards will be different.

In this sample the card base is Real Red, the grosgrain ribbon is Real Red.

The designer paper is Twitterpated.

The scallop circle and Modern Label punchies are Basic Gray.

The circle punchie is Whisper White.

I added a red foil star to the accent adhered with a Zot.  It is adhered to the card front with a medium Zot.

The greeting is adhered with 3D foam tape.

The card is an A2 card which measures 4.25 x 5.5 inches.

On this sample the decorative paper is kraft with gold foil polka dots.

The card base is Soft Suede as well as the grosgrain ribbon, the scallop circle punchie and the Modern Label punchie.

The white greeting is a Word Window punchie.

The star on the scallop circle is a gold sequin.

The card has a white bond paper insert and a white A2 envelope.

Christmas Card Challenge - Watercolor - NOEL Resist

While clearing out card making supplies I found these three small note cards.   You can see how I have used them in a previous post.  With watercolor being my theme this year I decided to give it a go.  I trimmed the note card to make NOEL more of a focus. I like the way the gold foiling works as a resist to the watercolor.  These were the last three so I am just moving on.

I painted a purple ornament with the O and outlined it in permanent marker.  Not sure my bough works really well.   I added a gold star brad in the center of the ornament after adhering the gold layer.

The snow and tree scene on the left is not bad.

I just added a wash of blues on the last one.

Each watercolor was adhered to a layer of gold metallic card stock to repeat the gold in the accent layer.  This layer was then adhered to a coordinating card base.  Three more for the box.  I used about 50 cards this year due to not seeing my church family so who knows what next Christmas is going to look like.

Thank You Cards - donated

I dropped another set of thank you cards at Compassion House as I was there to facilitate a card making session.

The women staying there for their cancer treatments are encouraged to prepare a thank you card for those who donate funds to keep this wonderful house running.

These are recycled commercial cards with additional layers added to provide more interest.

Love the gold foil ones.  I have the backs which will show up somewhere in card making on my desk.

I love these daffodils.  Watercolor always feeds my soul.  I love the border and the cute butterflies.  With a good variety to of colors I was able to coordinate them with ivory and yellow card bases. I added green layers.

These glitter cards I was able to watercolor myself.  They are very sparkly and I really enjoyed the process of applying color as I saw fit.

I added thank you circle greetings in turquoise to coordinate with the handmade flower to these copper flower cards.

I added layers to these beautiful blue stripes and marbled ones.  Adding turquoise card base on the first with a daisy punchie in the bottom left and corner.  I added black to the second one.

I added purple silk flowers to the one on the left.  Then coordinated the card base with the flowers.

The one on the right I added to a burgundy card base to match the border around the greeting.  I added a daisy punchie from burgundy card stock and held in place with a small brad.

That is 14 cards.   I do not really know how many the house uses but I keep the box full as I can.

Photo Christmas Card - 5x7 - WC Nativity

I photographed my little Nativity with a wonderful painted triptych background I found this summer.  I loved it because it has a real watercolor feel to it but it is painted on wood so it has to some sort of acrylic.

I hung the ceramic star that belongs to the Nativity in the sky and I think that really finishes it off.

I have several packages of these gold tri fold greeting cards so I just slipped the 4x6 photo inside.

Works really well and I a very happy with the results.

I have several of these for my sale on the weekend.

All Occasion Stack Class

I held my All Occasion Stack Class tonight.

I made a set of cards while the other 3 participants made their cards.

This card came from a full of Thank You cards.  The gold scallop is sticker paper. The gold foil greeting was trimmed and holes were placed on the left and right with the Stampin Up slot punch.  I ran the gold organza ribbon through the holes and knotted on the right hand side.

We had a great time and then a cup of tea and a bit of cake.

R2Go Christmas Kit - Bethlehem Triptych - Punched Stars

Another Ready 2 Go Stack kit for my class on Monday, June 05.  Very similar to the one I made earlier.

It features a Bethlehem Triptych with a gold foil greeting.  The layer measures 3.5 x 4.75 inches.

I chose a navy card.

I trimmed the 12x12 gold metallic card stock to 4.00 x 5.25 inches which leaves a small border of blue card.  This layer was adhered to the card front.

I punched 3 stars below the gold greeting on the Bethlehem layer.  Once placed on the gold layer the stars become gold as the lower layer shows through. I placed the center one first then evenly space the other two on either side.

Wedding Shower - Thank Yous & Card

I attended a wedding shower today. I made a set of 24 thank you notes for the bride to be.
Her colors were blush and navy blue so I chose those for the project.
I created the blush paper by brushing Tim Holtz Tattered Rose Distress Stain onto white pearl card stock.  The sheets were left to dry over night.  I was glad to see that the sheets were back to being flat in the morning.
I made the blush hearts with the Stampin Up! Sweetheart punch.  I was able to get 10 from a strip of card stock 2 inches x 11 inches.  I alternated the bumps to make efficient use of the paper.
The ivory cards have a gold foil greeting the center.  I used the SU Modern Label digital stamp to create the label around the words.  The dots are from the Lemonade Stand digital stamp set.  I printed the label and the dots in Night of Navy.  I adhered the hearts with double sided tape.

I made a card for the couple.  I chose an ivory textured card stock for the card.  I chose the label from the Everything Eleanor digital stamp set.  I colored it with Night of Navy.
The sentiment is also in the same dark blue.  I mounted another set of blush hearts in the center of the label. One is mounted with 3D foam tape to allow the other to easily be adhered behind it.
The shower was well attended and the gift table was overflowing with lovely things to get this couple started in their life together.

Sympathy - Gold Leaves

I made this card for a friend who lost his wife, Eva this week.

I started by reusing parts of a card with gold foil leaves on it.  I cut the layer down to leave a small border.  I found a rust card that worked well with it.  I added a gold colored grosgrain ribbon across the bottom third. Taped the ends to the back of the layer then adhered it to the card front. I stamped the Stampendous sentiment on a left over from the original card and gold embossed it. Using the Spellbinders A2 Matting Basics I cut the sentiment then the next largest rectangle in card stock same as the card. I layered these together then adhered it to the card with 3D foam tape.
I have not thought of these for layering smaller pieces because I forgot how small the little ones were. Very happy!

Christmas Card Challenge - April - Punches

This month's challenge is punches. It could a shape, a border, a corner punch.

I got my Stampin Up! Chevron punch during Sale-a-bration and I wanted to use it for these cards.  It was a challenge. I measured 1 1/8" from the top right hand corner to align the points on the chevron.  One had to be marked on the front and the other on the back.  I punched the left once and then the top once and added 2 more holes. The white layer is pearl white with a hint of gold. I lined the back of the white layer with gold decorative paper.  I punched a star from the same paper.  I stamped the SU Prince of Peace large greeting with SU Night of Navy ink on white card stock.  It was cut with the matching SU Deco Label framelit.  I cut another from the gold decorative paper.  I trimmed the circle part of the die cut off going along the straight edge of the ends then cut it in half crosswise.  I then glued them offset from the left and right hand ends.  This greeting was adhered to the card front with 3D foam tape.

Challenge - Red and Gold

I made the card for the Challenge at 52 Christmas Card Throwdown which is Red and Gold. We are allowed a neutral.
I selected a red card which I cut 4.25x11 and created the fold at the top.  I added a layer of gold foil paper with Merry Christmas all over it.  I cut a Cuttlebug ornament from the same red paper.  I added a Prima gold flower and a pearl daisy confetti flower to the centre and held it all in place with a mini gold brad. I placed 3D foam tape behind the hanger and the center of the ornament and adhered it to the card front. I placed a piece of gold thread through the ornament hanger and then pulled the ends through a hole I made in the card with a push pin.  I strategically placed the hole to fall under the bough.  I cut the bough from pearl card stock with the Impression Obsession die of a branch/bough (DEI021-N).  This die requires the metal plate adapter plate to get a clean cut.  I glued it down with quick dry adhesive from a bottle with a very fine tip.

Note Cards - Photo - Flower

I made these note cards for another family that I know where three members underwent surgery recently to save a life. I pray all goes well.
The photo is one I took a while back. I cropped it and sized to fit within the frame already on the card.  I adjusted the color to warm it up a bit as it was going on an ivory card with gold foil greeting.
