Cards - House Cards - Christmas

I made some sample Christmas House cards for a realtor friend.

The A2 card base is navy blue along with the middle house.  The little houses were cut with the Stampin Up Homemade Holiday Framelits Dies in three different colors. I used markers to add details like windows and doors to the die cut.

I cut a piece of no shed glitter card stock in silver tone stripes. I added the houses and greeting to this layer. Added silver mini brads as door knobs. Taped the sting of greeting to the back.

Once all was added to the glitter layer I adhered it to the card front.  A white blank card insert was added to the inside and a white envelope completed the card.

This card has an A2 white card base.  I added a blue watercolor designer paper cut to leave a small border all the way around.

I used the navy layer with the hole cut for the house on the first card.  I wrapped a piece of cotton thread around the right hand side of the navy layer and knotted it to the front.  I adhered the navy layer to the card front aligned on the left hand side.

I added a red heart punchie in the house adhered with quick dry glue.

I found a red greeting in my stash which is a Stampin Up Artisan Label punchie with NOEL stamped on it.  The NOEL is from the Bright & Beautiful stamp set. Mounted with 3D foam tape.  White insert and enveloped completed the card.

I modified a graphic I found on Pixabay.  I added a greeting with a shadow and my own green wreath to the front door.

I sized it to fit on the white layer mounted on the A2 green card base.  I printed it on the white layer and mounted it to the card front.

A white insert and envelope completed the card.

Thank You Cards - Finally Set 2

The card base is SU Taken with Teal in the A2 size in portrait orientation.

Trimmed the rough edges off this piece and ripped the bottom edge.

I saw flowers in the salt marks in this piece so I took my fine black marker and drew them in.

Added stems and leaves reaching to the bottom of the paper with additional grassy strokes.

It pays to save bits of ephemera.  The green yarn came in really handy.

The A2 card base is SU Pumpkin Pie with a watecolor panel marked with saran wrap on wet color and left to dry.

I punched 4 holes with the 1/8 inch punch. Two on the right and 2 on the left.  I taped the end of the green yarn found in the stash and was able string it through the holes and knot both ends.

I added a SU Artisan Label punchie colored with pencils and held on the yarn with a orange clip.

With the yarn still on my table I used in this card.

I trimmed the waterolor to crisp straight edges.

I layed a strip of double sided tape to the back of the watercolor piece.  Layed my pieces of green yarn then added another piece of ds tape and adhered it to the SU Dusty Durango card base.

Once adhered, I picked apart the strands of the yarn to create this wavy row of goodness.

I added an 2 inch oval punchie greeting below the yarn frill.

The A2 card base is SU Island Indigo.

I added a piece of SU ribbon in So Saffron and flagged the bottom end.  Trimmed the top edge to the top of the card.

I mounted the piece of rough edge watercolor panel over the ribbon aligned along the top.

Each card has a white quarter sheet insert with a white envelope.

Cards - Charity Set 2

I chose a SU Cherry Cobbler card base in A2 size.  I trimmed a piece of designer paper in kraft with white polka dots and adhered to the card front.

I added a couple pieces of SU designer paper in chevron pattern in red to the the card front.

I stuck the wood butterfly to the SU Artisan Label Punchie with a Zot and then it to the card front with 3D foam tape.

I adhered the SU Small Oval punchie greeting to the horizontal piece of designer paper.

The chevron paper is from a Stampin Up designer paper pack.

I wrapped a piece of red and copper metallic ribbon around the top and then taped the layer to the A2 card front.

I created an accent with a red SU Decorative Label punchie topped with a SU Small Oval greeting punchie and the wood butterfly.

A Zot holds the butterfly and double sided tape for the rest.

Each card has a quarter sheet white insert.

The dark brown card base is topped with a gold polka dot on kraft card stock.

I added a kraft and gold ribbon along the left hand side. The brown SU Artisan Label punchie is topped with a wood butterfly held in place with a Zot.

The SU Small oval punche greeting is placed in the bottom right hand corner.

This brown card base again topped with the gold polka dot card stock.

This time I used the SU Decorative Label punch and topped it with the SU Small Oval punchie greeting.

The wood butterfly in the top left hand corner stuck with a Zot.

These will get to my sister who has the contact for this card donation.

Birthday Card - Teen

A birthday card for a boy who is becoming a teen shortly.

An olive green card base cut 12"W x 6"T.  Another self closing card. I added some decorative paper to the left hand side of the card.

I cut a large primitive star with the Sizzix Primitive Star #2 out of gold glitter paper. Adhered with 3D foam tape.

The greeting is a SU Artisan Label offset with green cardstock punchie.

I did add some double sided tape to the flap and closed it with clips so that it can be reused.

Saw his Mom on the 20th.

Card - Birthday Balloons

A balloon birthday card for a boy having a celebration this week.

I watercolored a square of mixed media card stock with Not Quite Navy from the Stampin Up Watercolor Wonder Crayons.  Let that dry and pressed flat.

I cut the balloons with a thinlet die which has not brand name on it.

The paper is paste paper with glitter that my sister and I made years ago. Love the bright colors.

I adhered these to the watercolor with 3D foam tape. I added bright green strings and a SU Artisan Label punchie greeting the same color as the card base.

I added a quarter sheet insert and a quite envelope.

Love how the sun through the lace curtains adds something to the photograph.

Set of Cards

I made a set of cards with one single sheet of designer paper.  The design is by graphic45 - Couture Collection - Gorgeous - I agree it is a beautiful floral paper. Rich colors and a dramatic black background.  This paper measures 12x12 inches. Cutting 4 inch strips I ended up with 6 pieces for A2 cards. With the direction of the design all the cards were created in the portrait orientation.

Next I selected card bases for these cards.  With the colors in the paper there was lots to choose from.  Finally, I chose Old Olive, Lost Lagoon, and Dusty Durango.

For card 1 I cut the layer down from the top and flipped the piece to show off the blue striped backside. I then added a strip of orange card stock across the split.

I added a Decorative Label greeting mounted with 3D foam tape. A white quarter sheet insert finished the card.

For card 2 I did the same layout but put the stripes on the bottom this time.  I laid a length of So Saffron ribbon across the split.

The base this time is Lost Lagoon.

I layered silk flowers in warm tones and a small gold sequin onto a tiny black brad to create the floral accent which I mounted on the bottom left hand side.  The brad was pushed through the designer paper keeping all layers together.

This layer was then adhered to the card front with double sided tape.

A white quarter sheet insert was added.
This is card 3.

Here I split the layer top to bottom instead of side to side. Once split I flipped the small piece and taped back the designer paper so I could handle it as a full piece.

I added a length of Apricot Appeal grosgrain ribbon over the split and taped the ends to the back.

I added a Dusty Durango butterfly accent on the bottom right side.  The butterfly was cut with the Sizzix Winged Beauties thin dies.  I used my steel plate to ensure all the tiny spaces were well cut. I wrapped black thread around the body of the butterfly and left the ends to be the antennae.  Adhered with double sided tape.

Quarter sheet insert completed the card.

Card 4 has an Old Olive card base.

The designer paper was left at 4.00 x 5.25 inches.

I wrapped a length of Baja Breeze ribbon across the middle and taped the ends to the back.

I added a Artisan Label greeting with black letters which was adhered with 3 D foam tape over top of the ribbon on the right hand side.

A quarter sheet white insert completed the card.

Card 5 is similar to card three.

This time the ribbon is So Saffron which is wrapped over the designer paper top to the bottom with the ends taped to the back of the layer.

I added some Candy Dots to the left of the ribbon in pink tones to coordinate with the large flower near the bottom of the card.

A white quarter sheet insert on the inside.

Card 6 repeats the lay out of the DSP split with the striped paper on the bottom.

A length of wide Tango Tangerine ribbon across the split with ends taped to the back.

I found 2 tiny turquoise blue buttons in my stash.  They are adhered to the ribbon with Bling Zots.

A white insert on the inside.

This makes a nice set of card with enough variety to be interesting.  Versatile in that some have greetings and others are left blank to used for any occasion.

Happy with this set which will given as a gift.

Watercolor - Sail Boat

I needed a birthday card for my aunt.  I was to join a party on Thursday but was called out to be with my Mom who was very ill and needed full time care for a few days.  She is doing better after a visit to ER.

This card will be late but such is life.

I created the background a while back and I added the scene this morning.  The boat and sun have a white gouache base with watercolor on top. I created a custom greeting.  It was punched with the Stampin Up Artisan punch and mounted with 3D foam tape. It will be off in the mail on Monday.

Card Exchange - Nov 2021

I am getting caught up on my exchange cards.

These are late for November.

I used the Sizzix Bigz Die -Assembly Snowman by Tim Holtz and cut all the pieces for this snowman.  The hat and eyes from black, the nose from orange, the hat band and scarf from red velvet paper, the arms from textured brown cardstock and the snowballs from white card stock.

I embossed the falling snow background with the Sizzix - Tim Holtz - Alterations Collection - Christmas - Texture Fades - Snowfall and Speckles in blue card stock.

I adhered the snowman with quick dry adhesive then mounted him on the card with 3D foam tape.  I added a prism snowflake attached with bling Zot and a SU Artisan Label greeting in the bottom right hand corner.

Cards - Birthday and All Occasion

I chose a piece of Stampin Up Designer Paper from the Tea for Two series and cut it into 6 - 4.00 x 5.25" pieces.

The paper was designed with Island Indigo as the deep blue I don't have that color so I substituted Midnight Muse which works well.  Love the quilting pattern.  This is my Angle Rectangle design where the decorative paper is titled on the card front and adhered. Then it is trimmed to the card edges with scissors.

I added a length of Lucky Limeade Ruffled Ribbon and knotted it on the front aligning it on the left near the fold.

I punched an Artisan Label from a scrap of the same DSP and turned it over to reveal the Calypso Coral polka dot side. I layered a Modern Label blue greeting over that. It was adhered in the bottom right hand corner with 3D foam tape.

This will be a card for one of my quilting sisters.

For this card I have paired it with a Lucky Limeade card base.

I cut the layer at 3.5" and turned the smaller piece over and taped them back together.  I placed a length of Lucky Limeade Ruffled Ribbon along the join and taped the ends to the back.  The layer was then adhered to the card front.

I created the greeting with a SU Scallop Circle punchie in a coordinating orange card stock with a color printed circle greeting.  The blue and green greeting was punched with the 1 3/8 inch circle punch then adhered to the scallop.  This accent was then adhered to the card front over the ribbon with 3D foam tape.

This card is for a friend who celebrates her birthday in early August.

I made a couple of all occasion cards for my card box.

Here I have paired the reverse side which is the Calypso Coral Polka Dots with a coordinating card base.

I assembled the flower accent with a couple handmade paper flowers (turquoise and yellow) and a couple silk flowers (white and orange).  All held in place on the designer paper with a tiny blue brad.

The layer was then adhered to the card front with double sided tape.

I used another Midnight Muse card base with the quilting side of the Tea for Two DSP facing out. I made a slit in the designer paper and folded back the triangles to reveal the orange polka dots.  Like the way it repeats the triangles in the paper.

I wrapped a length of narrow organza ribbon in the Lucky Limeade color around the narrowest point of the front layer and tied a bow.  Trimmed the ribbon ends.

The layer was then adhered to the card front.

I added some three warm white Sugar Dots in the triangle space across from the ribbon bow.

Each of these has a white blank insert and has been paired with an white envelope.

Christmas Card Challenge - July - Trees

I found a set of these little trees when I was cleaning up.  I have no idea where I got them but they may have come from my niece.  I don't have this die so I did not cut them. They are Stampin Up Gumball Green.

I have chosen the same elements and arranged them slightly differently in each card.

Trees - Gumball Green die cut spruce tree - die unknown

DSP - SU Winter Bright collection

Colors - Bashful Blue, Gumball Green, Whisper White

Tiny White Brads

Greeting - SU Artisan Label punchies in BB & GG

Card bases - Textured Gumball green 12x12 cut down to size

The greeting was mounted to card front with 3D foam tape.

I added 3 tiny white brads to the main tree then adhered with double sided tape.

The snowbanks were ripped from white card stock and I used a bit of Bashful Blue chalk along the rough edge.

The star is a punchie from white pearl card stock adhered with a Bling Zot.

The DSP was cut to leave a small border and in one case cut to 3 inches wide by 5.25 inches tall.

Christmas Card Challenge - June - Silhouette

I chose this gold debossed star designer paper in 12x12 cut into 6 pieces.

I created the blue with Tim Holtz Distress Stains in blue tones.  Faded Denim, Broken China, Tumbled Glass was applied to a piece of glass, spritzed with water and then I laid my star paper into it.  Once dry I iron them flat.

I chose a warm light blue card base.
Die cut the black with the Taylored Expression Bethlehem border and added the bank with Creative Memories Decorative Trimmer.  Adhered a Stampin Up Modern Label greeting with an offset of turquoise.  Star cut with Sizzix Star die. Both adhered with 3D foam tape.

I adhered the star layer, I cut a white bank layer with my Creative Memories 12 inch Decorative Trimmer and adhered to blue star layer.

I then adhere my Taylored Expressions Bethlehem Border diecut in black which I cut the bottom edge with the CM Dec Trimmer.

I added a Artisan Label greeting and the a gold star cut with the Sizzix Star die.

For this card I used the QuicKutz Nativity die with the black card stock.

The gold star is created with the Creative Memories Sparkle punch.

A Stampin Up Artisan Label Punch greeting.

Feels good to have a few more Christmas cards in the box.

What will Christmas look like this year?

Christmas Card Challenge - March - Madonna

The subject for the Christmas Card Challenge is Madonna.

I used the Gentle Peace Set by Stampin Up for the challenge in black on white card stock.  I then used pencil crayons to color the image of the Holy Family.  The outside frame was done with the metallic crayons.  I trimmed the image very close to the border.  I ran a black crayon along the edges.

I chose a deep warm purple textured card base.  I used my tracing wheel to add texture to the card front.

I then mounted the image to the card front with 3D foam tape.

I added a greeting in the top right hand corner also with 3D foam tape.

I added a green card base for this card and added the same texture to the front with my tracing wheel tool.

This image I gave the main characters different colored garments and put a purple border all the way around. It is mounted with 3D foam tape.

The greeting is a Stampin Up Artisan Label punchie mounted with 3D foam tape.

A few more cards in my card box.

These were time consuming but I really enjoyed the coloring same as when I was a kid.

Christmas Card Challenge - February - Star

My card design for the February Christmas Card Challenge - Star.

I used foil paper with stars on it which was cut to 4.00 x 5.25 inches.

It was cut with the Stampin Up Star Framelits and adhered to the front of a black card.  I chose the next size down and cut foil chipboard and mounted it in the center of the hole I had cut earlier with 3D foam tape.

I color printed a greeting in black on white card stock.   I then punched it out with the Stampin Up Artisan Label.

It was mounted in the bottom right hand corner with 3D foam tape.

I have several ready for the card box.

I just couldn't leave those star cut outs on my craft table.

I found some silver/black ribbon which coodinated with the stars.

I chose a red card base.  I added a bit of texture to the card front by piercing lines with my dressmaking tool.

I put a length of ribbon across the bottom of the card and taped the ends to the inside.

I adhered the star matching the flat end to the bottom of the card.

Add the same greeting as the one above with 3D foam tape.

2019 Cardmaking - CH - Class 6

I have decided to stick to one layout which allows one to make a wide variety of cards.  Because I never know how many ladies will show up it makes it hard to plan the number of card kits I need. This way I can just add card kits to my box at any time and be ready for the class. The remaining kits will just go to the next class.  The ladies attending turns over regularly as they finish their treatment and others take their place.

These kits are based on the DSP Split layout where the designer paper layer is cut to 5.25x4 inches then cut again at 3.5 inches. One of the pieces is turned over and the pieces are taped together on the back.  A ribbon is laid across the join and the ends are taped to the back of the DSP layer.  This layer is then adhered to the card front.  This is a versatile layout as you can see it can work tall or wide with the narrow piece on the left or right. With alternating the combo on the double sided paper each card can be different.

The Stampin Up Artisan Label was used on this set.  The greeting was printed on white card with Kiwi Kiss and Early Espresso and punched with the coordinating punch.

The designer paper used on the card shown is by BoBunny - Little Miss - Little Miss Dorothy.  The other I selected is Basic Grey - True Love - Giddy.

The grosgrain ribbon is pink.

The greeting is adhered over the ribbon with 3D foam tape.

I chose this set of cards to have no greeting which allows it to be used for any occasion.  The designer paper for this set is by Simple Stories - Snap Color Vibe - Dot/Stripe in Green and Yellow.

The ribbon is white grosgrain ribbon.

The textured card bases coordinate with the color of the DSP in green and mustard.

It label was cut with one of the Stampin Up Apothecary Framelits.

The accent has a white silk flower in the center held in place with a coordinating mini brad.  The 2 white buttons on either side are held in place with Bling Zots.

It is adhered to the card front over the ribbon with 3D foam tape pieces.

This is supplies from last month's class which I have converted into the DSP split style card kit.

I chose Stampin Up Print Pattern in Garden Green with the Early Espresso card stock. Some kits have the Garden Green card base.

I added a length of white grosgrain ribbon for across the split.

The star accent was assembled by layering all three and adding the tiny star brad in the center.  This was adhered over the ribbon with 3D foam tape.

I create the greetings in Early Espresso with the Teeny Tiny Wishes set and punched them with the Decorative Label Punch.  I cut the label in half along the points.  It is adhered aligned along the bottom of the card.

R2Go All Occasion Stack Kit

I had the daughter of a friend request some card kits as an activity for the women's group she runs in Ontario. She is here visiting her Mom for a couple of weeks. I jumped at the chance!

These are coordinated printed card stock with stripes and daisies.  They were corner rounded 4 inch squares.

I cut the striped one in half and adhered one half aligned to the top and bottom edge of the card leaving a small border.

I wrapped a piece of white satin ribbon around the daisy layer, knotted it to the front and trimmed the ends.  It was adhered to the card front with 4 pieces of 3D foam tape.

I adhered a Stampin Up Modern Label white greeting  in the top left hand corner of the daisy layer.

The card has a quarter sheet blank insert glued to the inside.

I have not used the following layout for quite a while.

I cut 12x12 designer paper into 6 inch squares.  I then cut the paper with my Creative Memories cutter on the largest circle with the red knife.  This is just under 6 inch circle.  These were then cut in half.

The paper shown here is by Making Memories - Animal Crackers - Jack Vanishing Dots.  I chose coordinating card stock in several colors for the kit. I adhered the half circle along the fold and trimmed the excess on the right and left card edges.

I added a black seam binding ribbon tied along the fold and trimmed the ends.  I then added 3 black sequins on the right hand side adhered with Bling Zots.

Of course, I turned to the old stand by - the DSP Split.

The designer paper was cut to  4.00 x 5.25 inches then cut again at 3.5 inches.  The small piece was turned over and aligned to the larger piece. These  taped on the back together to create a full layer.

The paper shown here is by We R Memory Keepers - Wildflower - Botanical.   I just love this paper.  I provide a variety of paper and card stock in this kit.

I aligned the Espresso color grosgrain ribbon across the join and taped the ends to the back of the designer paper layer.  This layer was then adhered to the card front.

I color printed some greetings and punched them with the Stampin Up Artisan Label.  It was adhered to the card front over the ribbon with 3D foam tape.

I started with the label cut with the Tim Holtz Cameo Frame die.  I used a variety of designer paper for the labels.

The card bases are all white card stock.

I then cut a large card stock flower with the Sizzix Flowers & Leaves die.  I chose the color based on the color of the label.

I added a large & small silk flowers in white with a white flower sequin on a white brad.  Using a push pin to make a hole in the designer paper I then pushed the prongs through and push them apart on the back.  The label was then adhered to the card front.

I added the color printed greeting punched with the Stampin Up Artisan Label punch.  It is adhered to the card front below the flower with 3D foam tape.

I have included the card samples so she had teach the class with something to show the ladies participating.

Ready2Go Christmas Stack Kit - Blue & Cream Dove and Peace on Earth

I worked on a Christmas Stack kit in case someone wants to get a head start on those cards.

The image is a recycled Christmas card featuring navy, light blue and cream.

I added a light blue layer of card stock to repeat that color which was cut to 4 x 5.25 inches leaving a small border.

I chose a cream card in the tall orientation.

These layers were all adhered to the card front with the light blue first and the dove next.

I created a greeting with the Stampin Up Artisan Label punch.  I used the navy and light blue in teh greeting, color printed it and then punched it out.

It was adhered to the card front with 3D foram tape aligned on the dark/light line on the dove layer.

This is another recycled Christmas card layer.

I cut the black layer to 4 x 5.25 inches leaving a small border of card base showing.

I chose Kraft card stock to repeat the kraft colored swirls on the right hand side.

The Peace on Earth layer was adhered to the black layer then I used 3 round tiny brads in the top left, bottom left and bottom right corners.  A push pin was used to make the holes before the brad was inserted.  I selected 3 of the dots in the design for the star brads.

The 3D foam tape was cut in 4 pieces and placed on the 4 corners of the black layer.  It was then adhered to the front of the card.

A quarter sheet insert was used in these cards.

Loving how this one came together.

Ready2Go AO Stack Kits - DSP Split - Artisan & Apothecary Labels

Exchange Cards - Bright and Bold

I managed to get my February Exchange cards made.

This is alcohol ink backgrounds.  I added some black ink markings to this one with Nick Bantock ink in Lamp Black. It took a long while to dry so I need to dilute it a bit before doing my marks.  I used a bottle lid to make the circle.

This one was cut to just under 4" square.  I then layered it onto a piece of warm lavendar card stock to coordinate with the warm tones in the top left hand corner.

Then layered onto Tangerine card base.  I added some stitching with a black marker.

The greeting was color printed and punched with the Stampin Up Artisan punch.

Left:  A bold piece of alcohol ink paper.  I hand drew the daisy with silver marker then retraced with black as I did not feel the silver stood out enough.  I added stitching around the edge with the same black marker.

It was adhered to a medium blue card base.

I added a silver daisy punchie, a small back sequin and all held in place with a pewter tiny brad.

These are in the mail.  With the plumbing issues here over the last month it has been quite distracting.

2019 Cardmaking - CH - Class 1

I taught my card making session at CH tonight.  I had some enthusiastic ladies participate.

This card features music paper cut to leave a small border on an ivory card.

The flower was cut with the Sizzix Flower, Leaves & Stem #4 from black card stock.  The stem was cut to fit the length of the card.

I poked a hole in the center of the flower with a push pin. I placed the gold sequin and Prima paper flower onto the tiny black brad and inserted into the hole I made.  I pressed the prongs apart on the inside of the card.

With no greeting it makes a great card for any occasion for a music lover.

This card makes a great one for the guys in your life.

I chose a grey card and cut the designer paper to leave a small margin and adhered it to the card front.

I wrapped the black ribbon around the card front and tied in a square knot on the front left.

The black label was cut with the Stampin Up Deco Label framelit. I printed the pelican and punched with 2" circle punch.  It was adhered over the ribbon with 3D foam tape.

I started with a deep teal card.  I cut the polka dot designer paper to leave a small border and adhered it to the card front.

I cut the flower from copper card stock with the Sizzix Daisy #4 die.  It was adhered to the card front.

With a push pin I made a hole through the card front for the brad which holds the two handmade paper flowers (teal and terracotta) in the center of the flower.

The greeting was printed in a warm blue then punched with the Stampin Up Artisan Label Punch.

It was adhered to the card front with 3D foam tape.
