Cards - A7 - Die Cuts

Another few cards today.  Again, A7 (5.25x7.25 inch) envelopes.

I started with an ivory card base.  I cut a piece of textured turquoise card stock to leave a small border.

I cut a Tim Holtz Cameo Frame die cut from left over Stampin Up More Mustard card stock from yesterday's session. Trimmed a piece of watercolor designer paper to fit the middle of the die cut.

The floral accent is a large daisy punchie in turquoise, topped with a small More Mustard one held in place with a turquoise mini brad.

The cabinet die cut was then adhered to the turquoise layer with 2 more blue mini brads top and bottom.

I added the finishing border with a warm grey colored pencil and also added lines on the large daisy die cut.  A white insert and an ivory envelope to finish it off.

For this card the base is SU Tempting Turquoise card stock in 12x12.

I used the negative piece from the Cameo Frame die cut to layer onto the card front leaving a tiny border.

I placed a piece of the watercolor designer paper behind the More Mustard layer.

I cut a Sizzix Leaf Stem die cut from warm green card stock then embellished it would pencil crayons. I cut a couple more leaves and added them below the opening.

I added a pencil crayon line along the inside of the die cut in a warm grey.

A white insert and an ivory envelope were added.

For this card, I chose a warm green card base.

I ripped left over card stock in the More Mustard and the Tempting Turquoise and layered them with a piece of the watercolor designer paper.

I cut a flower with the Sizzix Flower Daisy #4 die from turquoise card stock.  I glued it to the front of the card with Scotch Quick Dry adhesive.

I added some texture to the flower with colored pencils.

I mounted a tiny button in the center of the flower with a Bling Zot.

A white insert and an ivory envelope completes the card.

Cards - Self Closing Card - No need for envelopes

I'm working on a new card design.

It is a self closing card where the card closes onto itself and seals for mailing all in one go.

For this one I used a 1/2 sheet of 12x12 designer paper and cut it in half.  I chose to put the plain side out and the patterned inside.  I added a TH Cameo Frame die in red to coordinate then adhered one of my 4x4 photos from past calendars in the center trimmed to fit.  Then came the bling of gold star sequins on the top and bottom held in place with red tiny brads.

An ivory insert on the right hand side with a stamped sentiment.  These cards provide a good amount of room to include a few lines of greetings to the recipient.

Once it is ready to go the card is closed and the double sided tape on the small flap seals the card.  Turn it over and address it, add a stamp and a return address and you are ready to mail.

I will cello them so the card front and sentiment are visible.  This allows the one to choose the one that fits the occasion the best.

Each will be an original and unique design.

I used the TH Caged Bird die for this card.

My background is a piece of marbled paper. I chose my colors based on it, so grey for the cage and branch and dusty purple for the bird. I then watercolored some handmade paper flowers to coordinate and place them at the top and bottom of the cage. They are held in place with tiny lavender brads.

I added a strip of the card base card stock along the left hand side of the layout. Taped the ends to the back.  Adhere the element to the card with double sided tape.

A white insert on the right hand side.

I thought I would try a landscape orientation and watercolor.

The wide does not work so well because you can't see the art and the sentiment at the same time.

A quick watercolor which worked out pretty well.

I spent most of the day making these cards then trying to decide if they are a viable product for the Christmas Store.

I go through this every year and I will just do what I like and not worry about who else might like it.

I need quite a few more Christmas cards so that works.

I love Bethlehem cards and I have not included a palm tree before.

The stamp is from a Stampin Up set in royal blue ink.

Cards - TH Cameo Frame

I brought a piece of pretty floral tissue paper home from the ReUse Center recently.  I decided to make a few cards with it.

I chose the Tim Holtz Cameo Frame die for one of the layers.

I cut the die from a lef tover piece of ivory card stock which was less wide than the die but I just went with it.  I aligned down the center and ran it through the Big Shot.

I wrapped the gift wrap around the center of the diecut and taped the ends to the back.  I added burgundy ribbon at the top and bottom on the die again taping ends to the back.

I punched a MS Butterfly in the same color as the card base which is a textured turquoise. I held it in place with a tiny gold brad. It was feeling like it needed a bit more so I added the deep red flowers in the top and bottom arches. These along with a gold flower sequin are held in place with tiny gold brads.

This layer was then adhered to the card front with double sided tape.  A white quarter sheet insert and a white A2 envelope finish of the set.

This card follows the same basic layout.  I cut the Cameo Frame from pink designer paper.

Then cut the floral tissue paper to just lay inside the embossed line on the die cut.

I punched a butterfly from gold foil card stock and held it in place with a warm pink tiny brad.

I added small gold lower sequins in the arches at the top and bottom with the same tiny brads.

This layer was then adhered to the card front in a warm pink card stock.

Insert and envelope to complete the set.

On this card is started with a warm green A2 card base.

I cut the frame from warm mottled designer paper.

Again, cut the tissue paper to fit inside the emboss line on the die cut.  The tissue paper had tears and tape in places so I had to be careful how I cut the paper.  The tissue has strategically place pieces of double side tape.

I added a turqoise butterfly punchie in the bottom corner and a handmade paper flower in the upper right hand corner held in place with tiny gold brads.

I put turquoise caps in the arches with my Crop-a-Dile tool.

Layer adhered to the card front with double sided tape and an insert and envelope to finish up the set.

It's nice to have a design element with a good variety of colors that allows me to create several cards which are not exactly the same.

Here I chose Stampin Up Pixie Pink card base.

I paired it with a blue watercolor frame die cut.

A gold foil butterfly in the top left hand corner held in place with gold tiny brad.

Small flower punchies to match the card base and again tiny gold brads to keep them place.

Layer adhered to card front with double sided tape.

I stuck to the portrait orientation unintentionally.  With this tissue paper I could have easily altered the orientation.

Quarter sheet insert and white envelope.

As I change the die cut color the colors in the tissue paper change and some are highlighted.

Here is chose a warm turquoise card stock for the frame die cut.

Then I went with a deep burgundy color for the A2 card base.

I added a strip of the same card stock along the left hand side.

I chose a burgundy silk flower with a gold flower sequin and placed it to leave the flowers in the paper visible.   This is layered with a gold flower sequin and held in place with a gold mini brad.

A white quarter sheet insert and a white envelope and another set of cards for the stash is done.

Christmas Cards - Teddy Bears

I found 2 Teddy Bear pages in my stash of old calendar pages. Here's the original post to the calendar.

Here's Teddy with the small Nativity set.  A gorgeous mercury glass tree in the background.

To create the card I chose Stampin Up Midnight Muse card stock for the base.

I cut a piece of Bashful Blue card stock with the Tim Holtz Cameo Frame die.  I trimmed the photo to 3 5/8 inches wide and 3 3/4 inches tall. I just love how well this works.

I added iridescent snowflakes with small white sequins held in place with navy star tiny brads at the top and bottom of the photo.

This was adhered to the card front.

I added a blank quarter sheet insert which should have had a sentiment.  I will stamp something.  A white envelope and it's done.

Here's the other Teddy photo.  Same mercury glass tree and a beautiful wire ball box which is meant to gift a memento.

The card base on this card is textured paper in a navy blue.

The layer is again Bashful Blue which was trimmed to leave a small border once the photo was trimmed to 3.75 inches square.

This layer was adhered to the front of the card.

I added an oval greeting adhered with 3D foam tape.

A quarter sheet insert and a white envelope.

Another couple added to the Christmas card box.

Simple Sentiments - Photo - Set 1

I made some cards with my 4x4 photos.

These are Aspen Leaves taken at Elk Island Park in the fall.

I chose a Stampin Up Summer Sun A2 card base, scored in half and folded.

I then cut a 1/4 sheet of Brocade Blue with the Tim Holtz Cameo Frame die.

I had to trim the photo to 3.5 W x 3.75 T to fit within the score line on the die cut.  I adhered the photo with double sided tape.

I added caplets in warm gold yellow at the top and bottom. This layer was then adhered to the card front.

I added a quarter sheet insert and a white envelope.

This card features a Dandelion Seedhead with tiny water droplets from a misty morning.

I chose Winter Wisteria as the card base and Lovely Lilac as the frame layer.

I added iridescent snowflakes embellishments held in place with purple mini brads on the right and left hand side.

A quarter sheet insert and white envelope.

This card is a photo of a Palm Leaf I took at the Muttart Conservatory.  The sunshine through the lace curtains when I photographed this card makes it extra cool.

The A2 card base is SU Garden Green.

The frame layer is Gable Green.

I added leaf green star brads on either side of the frame diecut and adhered it to the card base.

A quarter sheet insert and a white envelope.

This is the very textural center of an orange Dahlia taken at the St. Albert Botanic Park.  Love the water drop in the right hand corner.

The card base is SU Ruby Red and the frame layer is Dusty Durango.

I added red caplets on the top and bottom of the frame layer.  These are easily installed with my Crop-a-dile.  The layer was adhered to the card front.

I quarter sheet insert and an ivory envelope and it is ready to go.

Note: I had to replace the photo on the card because it end up with double side tape on it.  I replaced the photo with tulips which works just fine.

R2Go All Occasion Stack Kit

I had the daughter of a friend request some card kits as an activity for the women's group she runs in Ontario. She is here visiting her Mom for a couple of weeks. I jumped at the chance!

These are coordinated printed card stock with stripes and daisies.  They were corner rounded 4 inch squares.

I cut the striped one in half and adhered one half aligned to the top and bottom edge of the card leaving a small border.

I wrapped a piece of white satin ribbon around the daisy layer, knotted it to the front and trimmed the ends.  It was adhered to the card front with 4 pieces of 3D foam tape.

I adhered a Stampin Up Modern Label white greeting  in the top left hand corner of the daisy layer.

The card has a quarter sheet blank insert glued to the inside.

I have not used the following layout for quite a while.

I cut 12x12 designer paper into 6 inch squares.  I then cut the paper with my Creative Memories cutter on the largest circle with the red knife.  This is just under 6 inch circle.  These were then cut in half.

The paper shown here is by Making Memories - Animal Crackers - Jack Vanishing Dots.  I chose coordinating card stock in several colors for the kit. I adhered the half circle along the fold and trimmed the excess on the right and left card edges.

I added a black seam binding ribbon tied along the fold and trimmed the ends.  I then added 3 black sequins on the right hand side adhered with Bling Zots.

Of course, I turned to the old stand by - the DSP Split.

The designer paper was cut to  4.00 x 5.25 inches then cut again at 3.5 inches.  The small piece was turned over and aligned to the larger piece. These  taped on the back together to create a full layer.

The paper shown here is by We R Memory Keepers - Wildflower - Botanical.   I just love this paper.  I provide a variety of paper and card stock in this kit.

I aligned the Espresso color grosgrain ribbon across the join and taped the ends to the back of the designer paper layer.  This layer was then adhered to the card front.

I color printed some greetings and punched them with the Stampin Up Artisan Label.  It was adhered to the card front over the ribbon with 3D foam tape.

I started with the label cut with the Tim Holtz Cameo Frame die.  I used a variety of designer paper for the labels.

The card bases are all white card stock.

I then cut a large card stock flower with the Sizzix Flowers & Leaves die.  I chose the color based on the color of the label.

I added a large & small silk flowers in white with a white flower sequin on a white brad.  Using a push pin to make a hole in the designer paper I then pushed the prongs through and push them apart on the back.  The label was then adhered to the card front.

I added the color printed greeting punched with the Stampin Up Artisan Label punch.  It is adhered to the card front below the flower with 3D foam tape.

I have included the card samples so she had teach the class with something to show the ladies participating.

Card Club - November - Watercolor Ornaments

I started with color printed cards with the watercolor ornaments on it.  I cut the card with the Tim Holtz Cameo Frame die.  I chose a purple card which coordinated well with the image.  I wrapped a length of purple thread on the left hand side of the die cut then adhered it to the card front. For the greeting, I punched a Stampin Up Modern Label punch in green then added a SU Word Window punch with the sentiment.  The greeting is adhered at the bottom of the ornament die cut with 3D foam tape.

Winter arrived yesterday, so our numbers were smaller than usual but we spent time after card making having tea and cake.  It was great.  The drive home was not.

Card Club - Sept - Felt Owl

Here's a cute felt owl. I chose a black card then put a turquoise layer embossed with a Cuttlebug embossing folder. I cut the Tim Holtz Cameo Frame from black card stock and cut the die in half. I placed a .5 stripe of yellow across the card over the bottom edge of the Cameo diecut.  The circle is cut from white with Spellbinder Nestabilities and placed over the yellow strip.   I cut the branch he is sitting on from dark green card stock with the Stampin Up Small Leaves sizzlet.  The owl was then adhered in the centre of the white circle.

R2G Card Kit - Large Flowers

Another Ready 2 Go kit.  Make from the left over card kits from February Card Club.   I cut the Sizzix Tim Holtz Cameo frame from warm mottled green background card stock.  I added it to a warm deep yellow card. I then layered a large yellow silk flower then an orange one then a medium yellow with a small orange one. I layered the large one onto the card to align the hole made with a push pin.
I placed the small to the largest on the large yellow brad and then put the brad through the hole.

Pressed apart the prongs of the brad on the inside of the card.  The bees were buttons but I used a pair of sharp cutting pliers to remove the shank then a utility knife to smooth down the back.  I then adhered it to the card front with a Zot.  I added a dotted flight path with a black marker.

Card Club - Feb - Bee and Flower

This card is quite simple.
I made some kits with purple so I will post one of those after the class.

Card - Yellow Orange Grey Challenge

This card works for the challenge at Daring Card Makers for February - Yellow, Orange and Grey.

I layered large yellow, orange flowers then a medium yellow silk flower then a small orange with a large yellow brad.  I mounted this onto a label die cut in grey which was cut with the Tim Holtz Cameo Frame.  This was then layered onto a warm yellow card.  I then added a cute bee 3D element held in place with a Zot.  I added a flight path for the bee with a black marker.

Exchange Card - Turquoise Flowers

I printed the Stampin Up! flower from the Punch Bunch - flower for you. It's a digi stamp so I removed the scallop and the greeting leaving only the flowers.  I colored them turquoise and cut them out with Spellbinders Nestabilities - Smooth Ovals. I cut the larger oval from Kiwi Kiss card stock.  I cut the polka dot background with the Tim Holtz Cameo Frame.  I mounted the designer paper frame onto a turquoise card.  I added a piece of velvety green zigzag ribbon across the whole card.  The left hand end is pulled through a slit in the fold and taped to the inside.  The right is wrapped around the edge and taped.  I glue the flower oval to the green oval.  This was then mounted to the card front over the green ribbon with 3D foam tape.

These are headed to a couple girls on my card exchange group.

Card - Purple Poinsettia

I'm working on filling a few holes in my inventory for my next sale.  Music related Christmas cards was one such space.  I started with the lime green musical paper.  I cut it with the Tim Holtz Cameo Frame Bigz die.  I layered it onto purple card stock knowing I had similar colored poinsettias. I added velvety poinsettias in a grape color, with a Prima silver flower in the centre all held in place with a crystal brad in a purple color.  I punched a Stampin Up Modern Label punchie with a greeting color printed and punched with the SU Word Window.  The greeting is 3D foam taped to the card front.
