Card Making - More

The card making continues. The card bases are Barely Banana from the Scrapping Kit - "In Full Bloom".  The stickers are wonderful.

I added a layer of vellum from the Botanical Garden Vellum 6x6 inch pack.

On the left, I cut a layer of vellum.  I adhered the stickers then I could put some double sided tape behind them to attach to the card. A yellow day with bees a buzzing. Once attached I added a leaf border sticker across the bottom of the vellum.  On the right I chose some of the designer paper and ripped the right hand side away from me not to leave a white core edge. I added some vellum to complete the right hand side. Taped togehter then adhered to the card front. I added a couple small stickers on the right bottom corner.

Here I have chosen Lavender Lace card stock which was not part of the kit but matches well.
I used vellem again on both cards. Double sided tape behind the stickers placed on the front of the vellum pieces. Bees and flowers from the Simply Scrapping kit. White quarter sheet inserts with white envelopes.

I will be sending off the leftovers from the kits to the thrift store and I have just that little bit less in my craft room.  I want to use that watercolor background paper soon.  It has been a bit of whirl wind session of card making but I acheived the number of cards for both events I was plannng for. The trip south was great. Loved being able to get away again after being stuck close to home unpacking.

Inktober 22 Abstract Leaves

Inktober 2024 Challenge

22 Abstract Leaves

I penciled my sketch then traced it with a Micron permanent black marker.

I create several shades and tones of green watercolor on my palette.

Placed the background light patches.

Painted the leaves with my greens.

Spattered the final piece with some light and dark watercolor.

Sewing Project - Book Sleeve - Red Batik

I started with the red piece of batik fabric.  I did not have enough to make the whole sleeve so I pulled a few fabric from my stash to complete the colors in the fabric.  I added some black, red and taupe.

I wanted most of the front to feature the batik fabric.  I added black on either side then a piece of taupe on the right hand side.  The back features 2 pieces of batik and black and taupe.  The taupe was on the opposite side so they would not be together when I sewed the bag. I added a strip of red along the top front to finish off the piece of fabric.  Piecing together the fabric took much longer than using a single piece of fabric. There were more choices to make coordinating the colors and the fabrics.

I then laid it onto my flannel padding piece and top stitched the red pieces with red thread and the black the matching thread. Now those pieces were one.

I used some red cotton poly as the liner.  Again, cut the the same size at the main fabric which is 12 inches wide by 19 inches tall.

I wanted the handles both to be black as it was sturdy fabric and a dark color. I just had one piece so I made the back handle out of all red fabric.  The handles were cut to 12 inches long with top stitching.

I used a hair elastic for the loop but I would not do it again.  The center is very hard and the elastic is very dimensional which made it harder to sew into the seam.

I chose a vintage cream button for the front of the sleeve.

Card - Slow Stitching - Tapestry

I found this fabric at the ReUse Center and decided add stitching to it.

I selected a few shapes that would be fairly easy to high light I started.

I tried matching the thread to the original color on the fabric as best I could.

Once stitched I adhered the panel to the front of a SU Hello Honey card base with 3D tape.  The red shapes which I satin stitched were very bulky on the back so double side tape was not going to do.

A quarter sheet insert and a white envelope and another card for the card box.

Loving the stitching

How To: 12x12 Splattered Decorated Paper

I'm finding it harder to use scrapbooking 12x12 paper for my card making.  I want original and unique paper.  I have so many sheets of designer paper so why wouldn't I use some of that to make something new rather than using plain white card stock to start with?  I went into my stash and chose patterns that I have lots of or that I am not too thrilled about.

I chose the tools of the trade which are a collection of various paint brushes and tooth brushes.

Some acrylic paint with a couple of plates to use as palettes.  A spray bottle to thin the acrylic paint.

I chose several sheets of designer paper.  I covered my kitchen area with a blue plastic sheet to prevent splattering the nearby surfaces.   You can see the before and after pictures below.  I just loaded my paint brushes with color and flicked the brushes toward the paper.

To the left are the 4 sheets that I decorated.  I think the light sheets have been very effective.  The orange and yellow ones I am not sure they are as effective.

This new interface for blogger - I had to make sure that I chose a placement then I could have my text go beside my images.

Resizing is better and more adjustable.

Labels are a nightmare!  It is very slow and eventually it did not find labels which I know are there.

Happy Birthday - Dandelions

Birthday card for my sister.

I used the Toilet Paper Roll Dandelion paper I made recently.

Mounted it to a turquoise card.

Added flower sequins in the center to coordinate with the pearl white paint on the paper.  Adhered with Zots Bling.

Added a Stampin Up Modern Label punchie with a Word Window greeting.  Adhered with 3D foam tape squares.
