90th Birthday Invites

There's a guy turning 90 this month and his family wants to celebrate.

I was asked to design an invitation which included the family tartan.  His wife lent me a scrap from the making of his kilt.  I scanned it then repeated it enough to get a sense of the overall pattern.  I then placed several onto a 4x6 graphic and had them printed onto photo paper. 

On the sample on the left I chose a blue green linen textured card in the A2 size oriented in the tall portrait direction with the fold on the left.

I added a length of gold metallic ribbon and a length of red grosgrain ribbon on the left hand side.  I then trimmed the ends at an angle. I layered the tartan piece which measures 1.25x 4 inches on top and aligned along the top of the card.  These are all held in place with a gold glitter star brad.

The large birthday layer was printed on white card stock in navy and red.  It was trimmed and tucked under the tartan layer.

Mostly similar elements arranged differently.  The second sample was a wide or landscape orientation with the fold at the top.

Same blue green linen card.

I chose to use a metallic gold card stock which was more subtle.  It was cut to 1.25 X 6.00 inches and adhered one inch from the bottom of the card. The ends were trimmed once adhered.

The red grosgrain ribbon was aligned along the tartan piece and the ends taped to the back.  It was then aligned along the left hand side of the card.  It was adhered with double sided tape.  The glitter star brad was placed on the ribbon about the middle of the gold strip.  It anchors these layers to the card front.

The 90 layer was color printed on white card stock in navy and red.  It was trimmed to 2.75 square. It was adhered to a navy layer cut to 3" square.  This accent was then adhered to the card front aligned next to the tartan with 3D foam tape.

The inside insert provides all the necessary details.  He chose option #2 and I delivered these this evening.

90th Birthday Invites - Samples

I was asked by a friend to make custom invitations for her 90th birthday celebrations.

I put together two samples and met with her on today to review the options and finalize the details for the insert.

This sample features designer paper K&C Company - Classic K - McKenna.  It is a pad of coordinating patterns in pink, green and ivory in 12x12 size.

I cut a strip of the striped paper to 1.5 inches by 5.5 inches wide.  I wrapped a piece of ivory & gold organza ribbon across it and taped the ends to the back.  This was then adhered to the card front.

The accent is a pink layer cut from another sheet in the collection to 2.5 inches square.  The text layer was printed in Rose Red & True Thyme on a piece of warm green card stock which was cut to 2.00 inches square. If features a frame from Pixabay.  The accent was adhered to the card front with 3D foam tape.

This sample features designer paper by Frances Meyer - Suzanne Nicoll - blue floral.

It features dusty blue flowers with ivory highlights.

I chose an ivory card base with the same ivory and gold organza ribbon. 

The accent is a scallop circle punched with the Stampin Up punch in navy blue linen card stock.  A 1 3/8 inch circle of white card stock then the text layer in ivory.  The circle text features a frame and the text in Night of Navy.

I cut the designer paper to 4.00 x 5.25 inches and wrapped the ribbon across at 1.5 inches from the top.  The ends were taped to the back.  This layer was adhered to the card front.

The assembled accent was adhered to the card front over the ribbon with 3D foam tape.

Photo Competetion Invite

I have 3 of  my photographs in this competition.   I dropped them off yesterday. I found out there are 45 participants in the show all the art will be displayed in the gallery.  The reception is Saturday, June 30th where the winners will be announced.  I will be there. 

I would like to invite all those in the area who are interested to attend. 

Birthday Party Invites - Easily Personalized

I`ve developed a few birthday party invites.  These are distributed as digital files which are personalized then forwarded by email.  They can be printed at home, at the photo developer of your choice, or sent out digitally to those invited.  Makes it very quick and easy for busy Moms.

The one on the left features balloons which are my own art.  I have filled them with some of my watercolor backgrounds.  It has a banner across the top which has been colored to complement the balloons.  This one is designed as a quarter sheet of a regular letter sized sheet.
Updated: I've changed the background on this one which works much better.


The one on the right features one of my watercolor backgrounds and my happy birthday cake on a stand graphic.  The cake has been designed with the colors in the background.  This creates a bright and catchy invite for any party.  This one is 4x6 inches.





This one is in contrast to the bright and bold ones below. It's feel is soft and gentle. It was done with one of my bubble paper backgrounds in green, purple and turquoise.  I added the polka dot overlay to repeat the concept of bubbles.  I added my own daisy graphic in a coordinating color to add a feminine touch.  I chose to put the words in a delicate font to go with the overall feel of the background. 

Pink and purple for girls.  This one is in the wide orientation with the same birthday cake graphic from the top one.   The colors have been changed to work for a girl's party.  This is 4x6 inches.

 

Another watercolor background with wonderful feathered edges featuring bolder colors. The birthday cake graphics has again been used in this invite. The blues and purples in the background have been repeated in the cake.  This one is in the tall orientation and is 4x6 inches.















This one features ink spot decorated paper I made a while back.  I choose this one because of it's bold & bright colors.  The circle invite repeats the circles in the ink spots. The details are placed on a shaded box to insured they are visible and easily read.

These all can be personalized and will be delivered digitally.  They are available in 4x6 photo files or 2 or 4 quarter sheets in printable PDF. This makes printing at home easy. You can find them on my Digital Cards tab.

Card - Special Invitation

I was asked to make this card by one friend for another who is going through a transition in her life.

I started with an ivory parchment card in half sheet size (letter folded in half).  I then cut a Bazzil Mocha Divine textured piece of card stock down to 8.00x5.00 inches.  I wrapped a wide gold ribbon across the top and another across the bottom and wrapped the ends to the back and taped them down.  I then chose a piece of warm taupe cotton lace.  I pulled a length of ivory & gold 1/8 inch satin ribbon through it then taped it's ends to the back of the brown layer.  I used a Zot to hold the center down.  I color printed the words in brown onto vellum and then embossed it when clear powder. I cut it with the largest framelit from the Apothecary set. I added brown small flower punchies from the same card stock as the accent layer and then an iridescent flower sequin held in place with a tiny gold brad at each end .  This will help to keep everything together. I added large Zots to each corner for an extra measure of adhesion. I die cut a butterfly with the largest framelit from the Sizzix Winged Beauties set from the same brown textured card stock.  I held it in place with 3 small Zots on the body allowing the wings to come away from the card.  This adds a great dimension to the card. 

BBQ Panel Invitation

I got a call from a lady who is the daugther in law of a lady from church.  She is hosting a BBQ in June to get to know her neighbours better and needed a few invitations made. She asked if I be interested in making the invitations.  Of course!  She send me the details and a bit of information on what she preferred. 

This is what I can up with.  I designed the pennant banner myself.  The flowers are from CLKER.  I chose Stampin Up Always Artichoke and Summer Sun for the most of the elements. The flowers are Regal Rose.  I printed the half sheet panel on white card stock then trimmed it.  I adhered it to a Summer Sun panel measuring 5.5 x 8.5 inches.  I included white half sheet envelopes as well.   I think it turned out really nice.  I delivered them last night and she was very happy with them! Another happy customer.

Invitations - Wedding Invitations

I prepared these cards as samples for wedding invitations for a friend who is getting married later this summer. 

The card base is white with a embossed white layer done with the Cuttlebug Swiss Dots folder.  I wrapped a piece of wide white organza ribbon toward the bottom of the layer leaving room for the lattice die and taped the ends to the back. The lattice die was cut from aqua glossy card stock.  It was cut with the Stampin Up Lattice Die.  I placed a white felt flower cut with the SU Blossom Party Bigz die.  The small flower in the center was punched with a small punch in the same aqua card stock.  These layers are held in place with a tiny white brad through all the layers to the card front. I added some diamond shaped aqua pieces left over from the die cutting.  They are held in place with Zots.

The second one was a card with a top fold.  I placed a white doily on the card front and folded the extra to the inside of the card.  I cut a piece of vellum with the smooth circle Spellbinder Nestabilities which was adhered to the centre of the doily.  I then punched 2 hearts from white card stock with the Stampin Up Sweetheart punch.  They were embossed with the Sizzix Tropical Paisley embossing folder.  The one in front was adhered with 3D foam tape.  I added a piece of turquoise baker's twine wrapped around the card front above the doily. 

I will post the one she selected a little later once her guests have received theirs.

Invites - 60 Wed Anniversary

I was asked by a couple I know to design and make the invitations for their 60th Wedding Anniversary.  I made 4 samples and this is the one they chose. Here's a link to the others.
I started with a soft lavender card.  I embossed the white layer with the Cuttlebug Rebecca folder.  I then trimmed it all around to leave just a small border of card color.  I cut the oval accent with my  Spellbinder nestabilities dies.  The oval accent works really well in the centre of the embossed layer. The scalloped oval for the lavendar and smooth oval for the white layer.  I color printed the central oval and then cut it.  These were glued together and then mounted in the center of the embossing with 3D foam tape. 
60 years of marriage is a great testament their love, commitment and faith.  Congratulations!
