Sketch Book Cover - Paste Paper

I bought this Scrapbook Binder a while ago for under $5.  I was trying out ideas for what would work for me as a sketch book.  After using it for a few months I have decided to move forward and finalizing it.

It was just cardboard so it needed a cover.  I dug into my stash of paste paper and there was a piece big enough.  I used a large glue stick and put glue on the cardboard and the paper and adhered pieces to the front and back separately and pressed them with books. Once that was dry I glued down the inside flaps and dried those under books.  I then added the dark spine which is also paste paper.  That was a bit tricky to press but I did my best.  Then I cut down a letter sheet of 24lb bond paper to line the inside back and front.  Pressed again.

Finally, I could put my sketch paper back inside.  I am using 65lb card stock from Micheals which I find too light for card making so it needs to be repurposed. I just it cut down to 10 inches and punch 3 holes in the left end. Works great.

I still have the original 8x8 scrapbook sleeves which allow me to store paper that does not fit in the 3 hole system.

I have decided not to put any words or images on the front cover.

I am getting ready for Inktober 2024.  I hope to produce more drawings this year.

Paste Paper is kind of matte and a bit rough so I decided it needed sealing.

I dug out the bottle of Modge Podge matte finish I applied a thin coat to the outside.

Sympathy - Large Butterfly

I made this card for a friend who lost her dad in mid January.

I started with the designer paper with large blossoms in warm tones.  I chose a green card to match the leaves in the paper.  I ripped the paper on an angle and adhered it to the card front.

I stamped the sentiment in the bottom right hand corner with SU Chocolate Chip ink with the stamp from Simply Sketched stamp set.

I cut a butterfly in blue with the Sizzix Winged Beauties thinlit set. I adhered it along the angle and used the corresponding marker to add some brown to match the sentiment.

Sharing with the challenge at Case This Sketch CTS #206 this week.

Sail Boat in Blues

I started with a Stampin Up Sahara Sand card.  I substituted Pool Party for Mint Macaron. I cut a piece of non SU shiny card stock which matches Pool Party to leave a small border. I placed a piece of Night of Navy seam binding on the diagonal on the Pool Party layer and taped the ends to the back.  I knotted a shorter piece onto it in the top right hand corner. I adhered this layer to the Sahara Sand card.

I created the accent with a piece of Night of Navy, a piece of Chevron pattern paper in Sahara Sand from the Adventure Bound designer paper pack.

I chose the Sail Away stamp set in Night of Navy onto Sahara Sand card stock.  These layers were adhere together aligned in the top left corner.
I tied some navy thread into the holes of the Pool Party button and adhered it to the bottom left hand corner with a Zot.

I'm submitting to the following challenges.

Card - Sketch Challenge

I made this card for a sketch challenge.  I selected a chocolate brown card.  I found some pieces of designer paper in my scraps bucket that worked together and cut them to 1.25" squares. I flipped the sketch to face the other way but otherwise it's a match.  I color printed my greeting on pink card stock to go with the bit of pink in the designer paper.  I flag cut the end and adhered it about 2/3 way down the card.  I found a green button and added brown thread and held it in place with a Zot.

Card - CST Sketch Challenge

I made this card for a sketch challenge for one of my groups.  I went through my scraps and found the strips of paper first.  I embossed the rust colored solids with the Cuttlebug Mesh Texture embossing folder. I glued the stripes to the medium brown card.  I found a scrap of blue paper that worked with the blue in the striped paper.  I added a green gross grain ribbon along the top and added another piece of embossed rust paper along the edge of the blue one.  I brushed the edges of the blue with an ink pad.  I stamped a border punch tag with a sentiment in Tempting Turquoise.  Attached it with a rust brad.  The blue element was then held in place on the card front with 3D foam tape.  I place another piece under the end of the tag.
