Cards - Thanks

Another few cards for Compassion House.

This is reusing a small thank you card. The words are silver foil.

I just swiped a bit of watercolor in yellow across the words. Then I paired it with a deep yellow card.

I added a yellow handmade paper flower in the top left hand corner held in place with a silver flower sequin and a silver tiny brad.

This layer was then adhered to the front of the card.

I reused a nature print I did a long time ago.  This is a maple leaf print using a variety of acrylic paints - brown, red, yellow and orange.  Once dry, I spritzed it with orange red watercolor.

I paired it with a warm red card base.  The nature print was adhered to the card front.

I added an oval color printed greeting in warm orange tones and punched out with the 2" oval.

A deep brown card with a designer paper layer of warm blue grey stripes. I wrapped a length of ivory grosgrain ribbon and tape the ends to the back. This was adhered to the card front.

I added the scallop circle greeting in ivory and warm blue grey.  The punches are all Stampin Up - scallop circle, 1 3/8 and 1 1/4 inch circles.  This was mounted with 3D foam tape.

I arranged the 3 hexagons and adhered with double sided tape.  Cut with the SB Hexagon Nestablities.

Seniors Week - June 7-13 2021 - Card Donations

This is the reusing of a nature printing I made many years ago.

Nature Printing is a process that involves using real leaves, acrylic paint and white card stock.  I spattered the prints with watercolor after they were dry.

I trimmed the green leave nature print to leave a small border.  I adhered it to the front of a medium green card base.

I added a sentiment made with a Stampin Up Modern Label punch from the same green card stock as the card base and a color printed SU Word Window punchie.  This layer was adhered with 3D foam tape.

This card was made with an old card kit prepared for a class at a women's residence.

The grey card base was punched with a circle border punch.  The sentiment is held in place with a metal circle pronged through the card front.   I added 3 daisy confetti held in place with tiny black brads. The insert is the full half sheet so it will show through the punched border.

I am using up old card kits which did not get used in class.  There was a time when I prepared more kits because I was not sure how many participants would show up. Later, I got smart and made participants pay in advance so I only prepared the number of kits which were paid for.

This card has a lavender card base with coordinating designer paper in the diamond pattern.  Trimmed to leave a small border.

The gold border was wrapped around and the ends were taped to the back.  The purple Lattice die cut was adhered to the designer paper too. Then this layer was adhered to the card front.

I added a flower accent and a Stampin Up Modern label sentiment where the purple punchie was offset from the white one. This was adhered with 3D foam tape.

Another old kit.

This card has a black card base with a piece of striped warm blue green designer paper trimmed to leave a small border.  I wrapped the ivory grosgrain ribbon and taped the ends to the back. This was adhere to the front of the card.

The three hexagon shapes in the same color scheme as background were cut from designer scrap book paper with Spellbinder Hexagon Nestabilities set. These were adhered aligned along the ivory ribbon.

I added a ivory tag sentiment with navy cording.  It was adhered with 3D foam tape.

The stack of card is growing!  I delivered them on Friday, May 21st.  They were gratefully accepted.

Nature Print Cards

I made some cards with the leaf nature prints from I made the other day.

This is an aspen leaf so I chose 2 different shades of yellow for this print - Cadmium Yellow and Golden Straw, the brown was Dark Burnt Umber.

I trimmed the print to 3.75x5.00 inches and layered it to a piece of warm golden yellow card stock.  I punched holes in the bottom left hand corner and inserted yellow eyelets with the Crop-a-dile.  I added grey cording and knotted it.  The layer was then adhered to a taupe card.

You can check out my HowTo: Nature Printing Tutorial.

On this card I swapped the colors around with grey eyelets and yellow cording.  This leaf is from an oak tree.  The coloring is very similar.  These are a bit more brown, where as the aspens can be bright yellow.

These cards are on their way to my card swapping friends.

How To: Nature Printing

I created some Nature Prints last week.  I have done this many times in the past.  I came across the maple leaf the other day and thought I should make some more.  The leaves are falling here so it was time do it before there was only dried ones left.

I plan to use these four as a set of Nifty Notes for sale this craft sale season.

I have put together a HowTo tutorial to show step by step how to produce these lovely images from nature.  There are so many interesting shapes in leaves.  You will be able to pick supple ones not dried ones from the trees or the ground. Check out my HowTo Tutorials.

This makes a fun activity to do with your kids or grand kids.

Mosaic Monday - Leaf Canvas

Here's another canvas I have been working on.  I wanted to do some nature printing which involves taking real leaves, applying acrylic paint to them and printing them onto a substrate.  I the past, I have used card stock and used the prints in cards.  I thought I would to the same process on canvas.  Again, the lack of stiffness to the canvas presented a challenge.

I used Liquidtex Cadmium Yellow, Cadmium Red Medium, Titanium White, Phthalo Blue.  I have applied a thin layer of Texture Paste with a palette knife.

Overall it was not too bad but I found the final piece a little flat.  The maple leaf I had used for the printing was a deep dark color and was really gorgeous looking and I hated to throw it away.  With the canvas looking flat I thought this is just what it needs.  How to preserve it?  A bit of checking and I painted both sides with Modge Podge.  It needed a bit of strengthing so I using Modge Podge I adhered some deep burgundy mulberry paper to the back in strategic places.  That will do nicely.

I cut letters from card stock painted with deep dark brown paint.  I cut them with Stampin Up Little Letters framelits.  I brushed them with some gold acrylic then adhered them to the canvas with quick dry adhesive.

Card - No Greeting

I'm working on cards with no greeting for a friend who has requested several.  The leaf is a nature print with a real maple leaf and acrylic paint that I made several years ago.  I dug it out of my stash and mounted it onto a coordinating card.  It still needed something so I punched a piece of wine card stock which had been painted with gold acrylic paint which the Stampin Up! Dotted Scallop Ribbon Border Punch. This card stock was left over from this card.  I strung some gold cord through the last few holes on the right hand side.

Card - Thank You

I made the cards for a Thank You for the participants in my Card Club.

The technique is nature printing which is essentially taking green leaves, applying color paint and pressing those onto paper.

I mounted these onto Kraft card stock.  I have oak and aspen leaves here but I have done other leaves which will show up later.
