Card - Green Tree

This card is masculine themed with a full tree as the focal element.  I spritzed the card with Maya Mist - Antique Copper. The fence was cut from ginger cardstock with the Cricut using the Paper Dolls Dress Up cartridge. The tree was created with a Sizzix die - Green Tree.  I cut the foliage from designer paper and the trunk from solid colored cardstock.  I cut the trunk with extra on the top so there would be some space for me to glue my foliage to.

On this one, I used blue textured cardstock.  The fence was cut from Cherry Cobbler and the foliage from designer paper with green and a leaf pattern on it.

Card Club - Transportation

This is a nod to the transportation theme which is likely popular with most of the males in our lives.  Trucks, cars, planes, etc in wonderful primary colors of red, blue, yellow, orange, and black.  I chose to keep the yellow border and the green ribbon and black thread consistent.  I chose the card to match the dominant vehicle in the designer paper.  The DP was cut 5.25x 3.  The yellow border was made with a Fiskars - Upper Crest border punch, which was adhere just below the DP.  I added green gross grain ribbon and taped the ends into the inside of the card.  I wrapped a black thread twice around and knotted it on the front and trimmed its ends.

Card Club - Paper Strips

This is a great way to use your leftover strips of designer paper.  I went through my tray of left over designer paper and selected strips of paper.  I organized them by color. I laid a piece of black cardstock to simulate the card and put together strips until I was happy with combination.  I added a .75" strip of black cardstock which I trimmed the ends by adding a V in each end.  I wanted the ends to stand out so I cut it short enough that they rest against the DP.  I stamped the greeting with a clear stamp on a Stampin Up! Decorative label punchie in black Versafine ink which was raised from the surface with 3D foam tape.  Great versatile design that would make a masculine or feminine card based on the colors and patterns selected.  With using black as the neutral the colors just pop and any color will do!

Card Club - Sail Boat

One of the card today is for Father's Day!  The sail boat was cut with the Cricut with the Just Because Cards cartridge. Using three layers, navy, white and red.  I used the same colors in the greeting which was color printed and trimmed to the border.  I used a nice soft blue designer paper for the background. A strip of the same navy is placed behind the greeting. I offered several alternate greetings.

I made this card for a lady who I bought some dies from recently.  She's a Canadian supplier which is great.  I received my first order within 2 days of her letting me know it was in the mail.  The second order she managed to get a die that was being discontinued by making some calls. Thanks Elaine from Integrity Designs.
The greeting on this card is one of the dies I bought. It's a Memory Box thin die.  I love it.  It's a bit fiddly to glue down but it's worth it.  I started with a ivory card and die cut scallops with a Sizzix 12" border die.  This double sided designer paper so I used the few leftovers to create a strip of rose at the top and bottom of the card.  The scallop border was only glued at the straight edge so it creates a bit of dimension.  I added the greeting is a bit of a darker version of the color. Then added a ribbon across the card above the greeting and added a bow.

Calendars - Garden and Nature a peek

I've been working on calendars.  I have a set of 4x6" 2013 photo calendars ready.  I've posted them on my calendar page.  I've put the index pages here for a peek.  These make a great gifts.  I'm getting ready for the summer craft season where I hope to connect with those organized early Christmas shoppers.

Card - Mother's Day

I made a card for my Mom. I will see her today.  I started with a sage green card.  I added a coordinating designer paper with some pink and brown.  I punched a piece of pink card stock with the Stampin Up! Decorative Label punch.  I glued an oval color printed greeting cut with my Creative Memories oval cuttter.  I placed a length of Spring Moss gross grain ribbon across the bottom 1/3 of the card.  I have placed the greeting the ribbon using 3D foam tape.

Card - Challenge - Red, Green, Kraft

I made this card for a color challenge.  I started with a dark green card stock.  I cut a fence from rust card stock with Cricut cartridge - Paper Dolls Dress Up.  I cut the tree with a Sizzix die.  The trunk from Kraft and leaves from red.  I cut a few leaves on the ground in red by hand. It need something to unify the look so I spritzed the card with Maya Mist - Antique Copper.

Card / Calendar - Retirement 2

 

I made this calendar for the other person retiring.  I chose the photos him in mind.  Some are reminders of time spent in Alberta and some for the area in which they are retiring.  I hope I chose well.  I wish them both many happy years in retirement having time to pursue activities they didn't have time for during their work life.  Again, I chose a quick card so that I can send them off right away!

Card / Calendar - Retirement

I have friends retiring this year and thought I would make them a calendar running from July 2012 to June 2013.  I selected floral and garden images for this calendar which reflects her interests.  Each is a 4x4 photo with a calendar on the bottom. Once the month/year is over the photo can be trimmed.  It can become part of a collage, a scrapbook, a collection and many other creative projects.  I've included a magnetic 4x6 sleeve with the calendar so it can be placed on the fridge, perhaps.  I stuck to a quick card color printed as these need to be mail shortly.

Card - Exchange

I made these cards for my exchange group.  I started with the metal medallion in white.  I wanted a paper that would contrast nicely.  I had these Cricut cut with "Just because Cards" cartridge backgrounds left over from these cards. I thought that would well. I placed a length of white ribbon across the shape below the centre. I tacked it with a bit of snail adhesive in the centre to hold in place then taped the ends to the back.  I glued the shape to the black card front. I mounted the metal medallion in the top curve with 2 tiny black brads.  I glued the color printed oval greeting(cut with Creative Memories cutter)  in the bottom curve.  I added 3 silk flowers running along the length of the ribbon and those are held in place with tiny black brads. They worked out great!  Very versatile design because with just a change of flower you can have variety.

Cards - Polka Dot Thanks

I made this card for a friend at work that I have been working with on a fund raising project.  It's been great working with her!
I started with the polka dot designer paper and cut it with the TM Ornamental die.  I added a piece of satin ribbon across and taped the ends behind the die cut.  I glued it to the top of the green layer which was added to a white card. I added 3 white flowers in the upper left hand corner held in place with a tiny white brad. I used a Zot to hold the button in place over the brad.  I cut the greeting with my new Memory Box thin die.  I really like this die.  I used snail adhesive to hold it in place.  The green is a panel card that came with matching envelopes.Why not make 2 while I was at it!  The right hand one just has ribbon and the die is placed on the bottom.

Card - Challenge - Sketch

I made this card for the weekly challenge on my group.  This is a sketch challenge. I started with a blue purple card and I printed the greeting on the card's bottom right hand side.  I added a piece of designer paper to the top 2/3rds.  I cut 2 hearts (Sizzix die) and a scallop border (Die-namics) from pearl white card stock. I embossed the left heart with Cuttlebug Swiss Dots and the right with Cuttlebug Stylized Flowers.  I taped the scallop border below the designer paper and added the hearts above.  I added a piece of blue gross grain ribbon across the scallop border then tied a shorter piece in a knot to look like a bow.

Cmas Card Challenge - May - Metal Accents

The challenge this month is Metal Accents.  I thought about this for a while.  I came up with embossed metal foil accent.
I used sticky foil tape which I pressed to a piece of thin white card stock.  This was embossed with one of the folders from the Cuttlebug Cricut Companion Embossing Folder Give a Hoot Bundle.  I trimmed the metal to the embossed edge. Then I mounted it on hunter green card stock.
I started with a hunter green card onto which I stamped snow with the Stampin Up! Itty Bitty Backgrounds with white Craft ink.  I ripped a piece white card stock from corner to corner and I placed one piece on the card front.  I then placed a length of Handsome Hunter gross grain ribbon across the card front and taped the ends to the inside. I knotted a short piece along the length and trimmed the ends.  I stamped the greeting with a clear stamp in Handsome Hunter.  Then, I mounted the metal embossed tree accent I put together earlier onto the card front with 3D foam tape.  I'm happy with these!

Card - Challenge - Animal

I made this for this week's challenge on my group.  The theme was animals.  I decided on a zebra.  Using the Create a Critter cartridge I cut the zebra in black paper, the stripes in grey bond paper and the nose in grey then inked it with black ink pad.  I chose a white card then added a blue piece of designer paper.  The grass was hand cut with an exacto knife.

Card - Teenager

I created this card for a boy turning 13 this weekend. I started with a Green Galore card which I embossed with a Tim Holtz folder. I rubbed the high parts with place and Orchid Opulence ink pads.  I added a couple pieces of purple acrylic painted card stock I made a while back.  I used a black ink pad on the edges and adhered them to the card with tiny black brads. I pulled the greeting through a SB ribbon slider and added the numbers.  The strip is held in place with 2 tiny black brads.

Card - Tropical Pineapple

I made a couple of these for my exchange group and it worked for a challenge where the subject was food!
I cut the pineapple with a Sizzix die and then embossed the lower half with the Cuttlebug Swiss Dots emb folder.  I cut the top leaf part of the die in a green card stock.  I trimmed it and glued it to the top of the yellow pineapple. I lightly brushed the pineapple to highlight it with a bit of dark brown.  Smudged a bit into the leaves as well to create some texture.  I selected a bright green card to which I glued a piece of distressed black designer paper.  I then added the 3 bright green flowers below the pineapple held in place with tiny black brads.

Card - Christmas Purple

I made this set of cards last Christmas.  They did not make it into my stack classes then so I decided to review them again for my June Christmas Card Class.  I decide to revamp the idea.
For these cards I used purple and burgundy diamond designer paper which I splattered with gold paint.  I found card stock to match the DP and painted some of it with the same gold paint.  I cut the stars with a Sizzix die.  One large from gold paper, one large from the gold painted card stock, and a small one from the original card stock.  The DP is glued to the card front. The 3 stars are held in place with a tiny brass star brad. The greeting is cut with the Sizzix Fruit Smoothie Alphabet dies.  The shadow in the card color and the main letter cut from the gold paper. 

Card - Watercolor Mini Art

This piece of art was created on watercolor paper.  I placed painters tape on a large piece of watercolor paper creating small squares for art.  I applied liquid watercolor with a foam brush across the large piece. Once it was dry I pulled the tape off leaving the large white borders around this little piece of art.  I added a bit of metallic paint with a brush.

This mini art was then mounted onto a black card allowing it to pop!
