Snowflake Sparkles

I wanted to try coloring an embossing folder then embossing card stock.  I've seen a few samples in my web surfing the last few weeks.
I used the Stampin Up Northern Flurry embossing folder and a Night of Navy
Watercolor Crayon on the bumpy side of the folder. I spritzed it and ran it through the Big Shot with Whisper White card stock. The process put the color on the opposite side of what I was wanting because I did not think it through.  I used the really nice colored side but the debossed snowflake side. I was amazed at the variety of colors that appeared.  I mounted it on Soft Sky card with some wet glue and double sided tape in the corners to help the paper flatten out a bit.  I stamped the MC greeting from the Four the Holidays with NofN ink on white. I then cut a piece of NofN card stock and trimmed to the leave a small border. I added rhinestones in the center of 3 snowflakes and on the greeting banner.

Christmas Card Challenge - Aug - Joy Embossing Chipboard

Have you started your Christmas cards? Today is a perfect day.  I make cards every month to be sure I have what I need by December 1st.

This is the card for my blog Christmas Card Challenge.  The theme is Joy/Embossing/Chipboard.

I cut my warm white Joy from thick card stock which is serving as my chipboard.  I then cut the Tim Holtz Stylized Label with the Joy Mover & Shaper in it's center from green card stock.  I glued the chipboard onto the green die cut aligning the word.  I embossed the white card stock with the Stampin Up Northern Flurry snowflake folder.  I wrapped the white embossed layer with a length of gold metallic ribbon which I taped to the back.  This layer was then adhered to the red card front.  I added an oval of gold metallic card stock behind the green die cut to hid the gold ribbon.  I added 2 glitter stars on both sides of the greeting.  This layer was then adhered to the top third of the wide card with 3D foam tape.

R2G Card Kit - Simple Angel

Another Ready 2 Go Card Kit - SU Style.  I started with Holiday Thyme DSP which I cut into triangles. These are 3" W and 4" T.  This makes maximum use of the 12x12 sheet of DSP. They could be a little taller.  I cut the wings from brushed gold card stock 2 a time with the metallic facing itself using the Stampin Up Elegant Bird die. I embossed them with the Northern Flurry Textured Impression embossing folder. They were taped together ensuring that they were not too wide for the card. I punched the heads with a 1" circle punch from Very Vanilla card stock.  I stamped the greeting on Very Vanilla with the MC stamp from the Come to Bethlehem set in Bravo Burgundy for the red and Always Artichoke for the green since I did not have either ink color for the card stock used. I then clear embossed them.  I punched a Modern Label punchie from the same card stock as the card, split it in half lengthwise and snipped off the center bumps from both ends. I glued each half offset from the top and bottom of the greeting punchie. Once I had aligned the skirt onto the wings leaving enough room for the head I turned them over carefully and taped them together. They were then glued to the card front.  I mounted the head as planned with 3D foam tape and the greeting likewise at the bottom of the skirt.  The kit includes 2 Cranberry Crisp cards and 2 True Thyme cards.

R2G Card Kit - Joy Ornament

Another card kit for my class next week.

I started with a Stampin Up Night of Navy card. I embossed a white layer with the SU Northern Flurry folder leaving a small border all the way around.  I cut a length of SU Night of Navy grosgrain ribbon and placed along the top edge of the embossed layer. Knowing that I wanted to put thread behind it later I did not apply adhesive in that area.  The embossed layer was then adhered to the card front. I stamped the ornament from Delighful Decorations stamp set in the color of the card on Whisper White and punched it with the SU ornament punch. I used a push pin to create a hole in the ornament hanger then pulled my white thread through.  I pulled one end of the thread under the grosgrain ribbon and then knotted the ends and trimmed them.  I've put SU Purely Pomegranate as the other color in this kit.

Card - Winter Snowflake

The inspiration was the decorative paper.  It has silver, white, teal, turquoise and white snowflakes.  I chose a teal card onto which I placed a white Stampin Up! Snowflake #2 then a turquoise, red, and silver cut with the SU Bigz Snow Flurry die.  I cut a piece of the decorative paper with the SU Top Note then another in red and trimmed the decorative paper on the stitched line then mounted it to the red.  I cut it down to half and placed it at the bottom of the card then trimmed it to the card edge.  I added a teal greeting with flag ends and mounted to the card with 3D foam tape.  I'm sending these to my card exchange friends.

Christmas Card Challenge - August - Stickers

The theme for the Christmas Card Challenge for August is stickers.  This leaves it wide open for anything Christmas.  Trees, candy canes, snowflakes, words, and a bunch more of subject matter.  Go for it!!
I bought these sleigh stickers last Christmas because I knew what was on my challenge and they were in clearance for a good price  Stickers are not something I use regularly.  These sleighs are Martha Stewart. There are red and blue sleighs so I alternated the colors accordingly.  I found that they matched Stampin Up! Ruby Red and Soft Sky so I chose those colors for my card and background.  In keeping with SU I used the Northern Flurry folder on the background layer.  I created snowbanks with my Creative Memories wavy cutter.  I created the word accent with a stamp from Peddler's Pack with fit very nicely in the SU Artisan Label punch.  I stamped it in Ruby Red and used the marker to highlight the edges of the punchie.  I glued it to a strip of card stock about 3/8" wide in the same color as the card.  I flagged the ends with a square punch.  This accent is mounted to the card front with 3D foam tape.  Super happy with these.
