Special Birthday Card

My first card made with Stampin Up supplies since the major clear out of card making supplies in my craft space.

The card stock is Certainly Celery topped with a piece of Porcelain Prints DSP.

I added twill ribbon in the same shade.  I added a short piece of Not Quite Navy tied in a knot.

I punched a couple of Five Petals punchies in those 2 colors. I added a small So Saffron flower in the center all held in place with a mini brad.  I adhered the flower to card front with 3D foam tape.

The greeting is a color printed circle punchie with a NQN backer.

Happy Happy Birthday

I made a card for my sister who is celebrating a birthday this week.

I used a half sheet of card stock (5.5 x 8.5") in warm green. This panel is the card back.
I selected some scrap designer paper strips from my stash in greens.  I cut them .75 inches wide and left them as long as they were.  I started gluing them onto the card stock at right angles. This was an excellent stash busting card.  I sponged this layer just unify the colors of the strips and card base panel.

I added the warm green small tent card which measures 3.5 inches wide and 11" tall folded in half to 5.5 inches.  I then cut "happy" twice - once in gold and another in bright green with the Memory Box Jumbled Happy Birthday thin lit. I cut birthday twice once the same green as the tent and another the same green as "happy".  These were chalked the same as the panel. These were glued to the front of the tent with Quick Dry Adhesive.  I layered the birthday word. I punched a Stampin Up Modern label punchie from the bright green and adhered it below the words. I then added a bow of grosgrain ribbon held in place with a gold flower sequin and a tiny gold brad.   As you can see the tent allows it to stand nicely.

I should make up a few of the panels so when I need a quick card I could just add the tent and embellishments to finish!

Pretty Things, Delicious Food and Family

My sister was out to visit for a couple of days.

She brought gifts she had picked up for me recently.  This is a nice classic shape flower pot.  My plant shelf had taken a spill recently due to my lack of attention so a new pot was in order.  I love it.

Next to it is a 15 minute timer which I purchased for my photography because the sand was yellow which will be a nice addition to my cobalt glass photos.  She also encouraged me that I could scrape off the black letters on the outside of it.  Indeed I was able to so now they will not be in the way during my photography!  Thanks.

The other flower pot was in the shape of a watering can!  Really lovely and it's yellow!  How perfect.

I switched out the plants until it all worked.

The plants are doing so much better closer to the window.

I am very happy and I remember to water them regularly.  I expect they soon will need a feed of plant food to keep then healthy.

She also brought a wicker hat which did not work for her purposes.

I hung this in the bathroom where I have had a winter snowman hanging year in year out.  It was time for an update.  I had recently made that decision and then the wicker hat arrived!

I will have to decorate it with some flowers I expect but have not decided yet what they will be.

Sunflowers are my first thought but not really fitting with the bathroom so I will think on it some more.

We had a good walk in the afternoon to a high end second hand store but came home empty handed.

Spent some time on photography door prizes for the barbecue on Monday.  More about that later.

We cooked a wonderful supper for ourselves.  Steak, mushrooms and onions, coleslaw, and asparagus.  It was delicious.

We headed over to my other sister's to visit, pick up some art from my niece and look over some sewing machines.

It was a wonderful couple of days.

Refurbished Cards - Set 2

Another set of refurbished cards for the church fund raiser.

These are such nice cards to it is satisfying to give them a second life.

Some simply needed a new insert, some need a new card base, some needed to be straightened out and all got new inserts and envelopes.

Refurbished Card - Second Life

I have received many wonderful cards from friends, coworkers, family over the years.

These cards are way too nice to throw away.

When I heard that card donations were needed for a church fundraiser

I refurbished 25 of them and am ready to have them have a second life.

Photo - Ellis Bird Farm

My sister and I visited Ellis Bird Farm on the weekend.  What a gorgeous day!
Mr. Ellis set out to provide a safe place for blue birds to nest and raise their young.  The farm has many bird houses. Birds like purple martins, wrens, cedar waxwings and others are flying over head. Bird song can be heard at all times.
Ms Ellis set up the gardens to attract butterflies to ensure pollination and production of fruit and berries.  There is a new visitor center building will be helpful in their continued education programs.
There is a wonderful tea house where we sat and enjoyed a tea and dessert.

Card - Tea Cup Birthday

I made this card for my sister.  We are getting together this weekend.
I started with a light green card. I chalked the background with a Heidi Swapp stencil.  I added a layer of vellum to soften the card and frame the elements.  I added a greeting of a color printed oval on a Stampin Up Decorative Label punchie in warm coral color. This is mounted on the card with 3D foam tape.  I added 2 flowers on the left with warm pink tiny brads.  The tea cup was cut with the Cricut and the Folk Art Cartridge.  I chalked it with warm pink.  Looking forward to time with my sister.  We are planning a decorative paper session.

Card - Purple Poinsettia

I'm working on filling a few holes in my inventory for my next sale.  Music related Christmas cards was one such space.  I started with the lime green musical paper.  I cut it with the Tim Holtz Cameo Frame Bigz die.  I layered it onto purple card stock knowing I had similar colored poinsettias. I added velvety poinsettias in a grape color, with a Prima silver flower in the centre all held in place with a crystal brad in a purple color.  I punched a Stampin Up Modern Label punchie with a greeting color printed and punched with the SU Word Window.  The greeting is 3D foam taped to the card front.

Card - Challenge - No Flowers

I started with a Bazzil card - Pinecone which worked well with the stripe in the canvas.  I layered onto the card front a piece of blue textured card stock cut to leave a small border. I die cut the adhesive striped canvas with the Tim Holtz Ornamental die.  I put brown eyelets in the top and bottom points and blue brads in the left and right points.  I chose a piece of ivory which matched the stripe in the canvas. I stamped the Magenta Birds stamp with Versamark Olive ink pad and trimmed the paper then distressed the edges.  The birds were adhered with double sided tape, I hope it sticks because I'm not sure what else to use.  I punched a Stampin Up! Modern Label punchie in the same color as the card. I then layered a SU Word Window punchie onto it.  It is the same ivory card stock stamped with the greeting in the same color as the birds.
I've submitted this card to the ABC Cards - No Flowers.
