I went to see Mom & Dad this week to celebrate Dad's 90th birthday.
There was 7 of us for lunch then we headed to their place of chocolate cake. My sister made the cake which was healthy with zuchinni and bran. We had fresh fruit and some whipped cream to top off the cake.
It was great to see them and Dad will have had 3 celebrations before the week is done.
Champagne was had with their friends on Friday.
The large nativity is up with the new to me Avon Nativity figures my sister found at a thrift shop. I connected with her at Dad's birthday.
I got the stable last year when my niece spotted at a thrift shop. It needed a lot of cleaning but it looks great.
I added some gold fabric to represent straw, put stars in the sky, the fused glass star I bought at the Art Gallery Christmas Store last year. Perfect size. Mercury glass trees in the background.
I think I could use a couple of the animals (donkey and or oxen) from the Avon set. I will keep my eye out during the year.
The round Silent Night ornament was purchased at the craft sale I was part of 2 weeks ago. Works well here!
I cleared the telephone table from the clutter and it is sitting where I can see if often.
I bought a soapstone card holder at the reception at the Art Gallery on Saturday night. I like support other artist as I would like their support for my products.
I love the cool green outside against the warm colors on the inside of the stone.
I plan on using it in my photography to add words easily.
Love the quote from Wayne Dyer that was included with the holder.

Card Display - Show
I needed a display to hold my cards at my show on Friday. After looking at what I had at home I came up with this idea.
I designed it with a 12x12 metal square I bought at a scrapbooking garage sale a couple of years ago. I expect it was designed to allow a person to layout their page before adhering it. I painted it acrylic spray paint. I taped a 6x6 inch clear square box together then cut it in half with an exacto knife to create 2 pockets to hold the cards. The pockets are held in place with a couple rare earth magnets on the bottom of the frame. The metal frame is mounted on a large metal easel. The bottom of the easel supports the pockets as well as they are filled and get heavier. I added a piece of card stock identifying me and my process of creating decorative paper. It is held to the metal frame with magnets hidden behind the cards. The pockets are great because they hold cards tall or wide.
Having them well displayed, I hope I sell a few during the evening.

Card Display - Metal Wall Art
I changed up the way I display the cards I receive yesterday. I had a conversation with my sister recently about how she was going to do hers and it inspired to change mine. The picture on the left is a similar display I found on the internet because I forgot to take a picture before I filled it with my Christmas cards.

The stamens in each petal allows me to just tuck a card in without too much more to hold it in. I have added small magnets in some places to keep the card in place. I'm happy with it but my sense of order is a little troubled as I generally like things in a straight line, etc. but I think I will get used to it. The picture close up shows some of one flower and the magnet just above the star on the tree.
It will be pretty even if there are just a few cards but that is not bound to be often. Christmas is when I have the most.
