Sewing Project - Picnic Placemats - QAYG Blues

Another set of scraps put to good use.

This time I chose all blue fabric.

I created the navy blue zipper insert/pocket on the right hand side first.

I chose a piece of grey flannel and chose to make the size of the placemat this time. 12.5 x 17.5 inches.

I sewed on the strips of fabric starting from the right hand side close to where the pocket ended. I continued till I got to the left hand side.

I created a tie from the polka dot fabric.  The back is a pin striped cotton poly fabric which I cut the size of the front.  I pinned the ties opposite the pocket and sewed all the way around leaving a space open to turn it right sides out.   I trimmed the fabric in the corners, turned it and pressed it nicely.  I put a line of top stitching very close the edge which closed the space I left open earlier.

I chose my wavy decorative stitch to quilt the 2 layers together 3 time across the placemat.

Another done!

Sewing Project - Wine Bottle Bag - Bright and White

A bright and cheery bag today.

I had a limited amount of this punchy colored 100% fabric so I decide to split it down the center and put the leaf green ribbon in between.

The outer fabric is navy cotton poly so it is a bit on the light side.

The lining is some of the yellow cotton/tencel fabric. The thread is navy.

I add this bold white buckle which worked out well I think.  With the navy button to keep the twill ribbon in place it works.

I wished that I had offset the ribbon a bit so you would see more of the fabric on the front.  It is what it is!

Sewing Project - Book Sleeve - Blue Abstract

I found this cotton poly fabric at the thrift store and thought that would make a great bag. I liked the blue abstract pattern at the top which was different than the rest.

Cut the outer fabric, flannel padding and the ivory lining cotton poly fabric to 9 x 12 inches. Quilted the outer fabric to the padding with a wavy decorative stitch. Sewed both side seams on both pieces.  Managed to cut handles 3 x 12 inches with similar pattern.  Folded both edges in then again in half to make .75 inch wide handles. Top stitched left and right edges with ivory thread.

Placed the handles 3 inches from the edge and pinned, added the elastic on the back piece and tacked those down with a bit of stitching and checked their orientation o make sure I got it right.  Then pinned the two pieces together and sewing the top seam leaving a gap to turn out the piece. Back to flat elastic.

Top stitched the top edge to close the gap and finish the edge.

Added a vintage button just the right color.

Note Cards - Wonderful Wings

This is a stash busting opportunity.  Pulling 4" wide remnants of designer paper are pulled from the stash.

I cut the piece of designer paper from Fancy Pants - Summer Soiree - Beach House by Michelle Coleman with wavy decorative scissors.  It was placed in a wide landscape orientation on a yellow card. I produced the butterfly accent with Stampin Up Wonderful Wings stamp set in Blue Bayou on Whisper White card stock. It was then punched out with the Decorative Label punch. The accent is adhered over the split in the designer paper with 3D foam tape.

On this card, the same layout and butterfly on a decorative label punchie.  The designer paper is warm in tone with flowers and circles.  I selected white card for this paper.

On this card, the same layout and butterfly on a decorative label punchie.  The designer paper is warm in tone in soft watercolor pattern.  I selected warm blue card for this paper.  The butterfly accent has no frame.

On this card I chose Stampin Up Brillant Blue for the butterfly accent.  The card is white, the designer paper is ripped and the orientation is tall portrait.

Baby Announcement Cards

I made these baby announcement cards for a friend's daughter who is expecting a baby and the shower is today!

I went with non traditional colors of yellow and green.  I used Stampin Up digitals: Letter It Stamp Set and Ice Cream Parlor Ribbon and Buttons.  The colors are Daffodil Delight and Old Olive. The letters were given a shadow to add dimension. I designed the main element and color printed. I added it to a layer of yellow.  I used Bazzil Mexican Poppy because I did not have Daffodil Delight card stock.  This was then layerd onto a white card.
The banner was color printed and cut with the Bitty Banners Framelit set.  It was adhered to the card front with 3D foam tape.

The insert was customized with these colors.

These clear boxes are working out so well to present a set of cards in a professional and elegant way.
