One Thousand Gift - Between Sessions

I am grateful for gathering the last of Mom's apple and grape harvest this week.
Farmers are also gathering in the harvest.
God is good all the time.

In ancient times people would place a stack a stones where important events took place as a reminder of the event.  As the people traveled by the parents and grandparents retold the story to the younger ones in an oral history tradition.

What can we do in our lives to mark the big and small events to allow us to look back and remember God's gifts?

Scrapbooking - digital, paper, Project Life are ways to record our lives.  We need to make those available to remember and recount the stories. Dig those books out regularly and browse through them.

We can use scrapbooking to create a visual reminder in our quiet space that brings us to be calm and reflective.

A digital photo frame can hold photos from a trip, event, or just the great moments of ordinary life.  It is quick and easy.  Make the frame central to life in your home for a constant reminder of the good gifts from God.

Place some images which would trigger a calming response in you so in times when needed you can cast a glance to the frame and find an image to re-center you.

A journal, a blog, a slide show on the computer are all tools to record our big and little events then provide a way to remind us to slow and tell our stories.

Scrapbook Layout - Garden

Three of us had a Scrapbook day last week. Good company, good food and good time. We had lots of room and I got 3 2-page layouts completed. Here's pics from my visit to the Leg Grounds and the memorial garden. The fountains, flowers and foliage are all covered. My favorite is the Lily of the Valley.

Scrapbook Layout - F of S - Living a Fruitful Life

I start my Fruit of the Spirit Bible Study today. I will be posting my pages every week for the next 10 weeks. On my first page I created a vine and grape design. I placed each of the Fruit of the Spirit on one of the grapes. I punched my 1" grapes from several shades of purple cardstock. I printed the words on vellum, punched them out with a 1" punch then used adhesive runner on the cardstock and placed the vellum circles on top. I chalked the letters in my title and did a bit of journalling. I have saved the second page for photos of the group as we meet every week. I will do some journalling at the conclusion of the study.

Scrapbook Layout - F of S - Kindness

I'm working on a scrapbooking bible study for the fall. Here's my first sample page. The right hand page has four quadrants - Family, Work, Church and Strangers. What can I do to be kind to the people in each group. The circles on each quadrant merge in the centre. The small circle represents my life which is fuller when the life of those in each quadrant merges with my life. The left page has a scripture verse, a story from the bible and a prayer.

Scrapbook Layout - Winter 2008

You will see that I was successful in cutting a few things with my Cricut Create. It printed some things I wanted and several I didn't expect. It's another tool I need to learn how to use. It is good.
I had a 4 page layout of winter pics I took in March and April 2008. I enjoy being near the river valley and the white snow is a nice contrast to those evergreen trees! I wanted the pages to be quite neutral so I chose a blue grey cardstock and this one has grey mats for the pics. Each page had it's own accent color.

Scrapbook Layout - Pink Flamingo

This is a 2 page layout from a class I recently attended. It is Stampin Up! Pink Flamingo designer paper on Real Red cardstock. I really like the paper selection. The colors are vibrant and punchy. I created my flowers with the 5 petal punch with brads in the centre. A word is meant to be above the turquoise rectangle on the first page but since I have not decided which pictures are going on the it I will wait to add the word in black letters. It was a good evening.

Last 2007 Page - Yahoo!

This is my last page for my 2007 scrapbook. Great fall page. I'm so glad to be done so I can move on. I printed the first 6 months of 2008 on the weekend so I'm ready! I didn't get as much scrapbooking done this summer. It flew by!!
