Sewing Project - Tea Towels

I have been working on a sewing project.

I decided to make some beautiful tea towels this year.  I was fortunate to find several pieces of wonderful 100% cotton fabric this fall.  I wanted something with a bit of weight and texture.

These measure finished 20 x 28 inches.   With 3/8 inch fold over hems all the way around.

The Fleur de Lis pattern is wonderful, the botanical pattern gives a nice touch, and the ribbed texture will provide drying excellence.

Each of the towels got a twill tape corner loop for hanging and mitered corners. Super happy with these.   It was a real pleasure to work with 100% cotton.  It ironed beautifully.

Mosaic Monday - Bright and Shiny

I heard this set of woodpeckers before I saw them.  But getting close enough for a good shot was a challenge.  The male has a bright red spot on his head which makes him pretty easy to spot once you hear him.

There was a bright green door on a spa business on my walk this morning.

Shiny butterfly was in amongst the foliage at the Conservatory during my visit on Sunday. The Fleur the Lis is a wood
decoration on a door which was marked for demolition so I took the chance when I had it.

Mrs. Robin has a bright orange breast but she was eyeing me pretty severely.  The squirrel was playing frozen for a few shots so I had to wait until he moved to be a little more natural.

The walk this morning was wonderful.

Card - Script Background and Fleur de Lis Accent

I made this sketch earlier and decided this was a versatile sketch so I made more in other colors.  Pink, Blue and Yellow!  I created the script background with some poetry I wrote a long time ago.  I printed it in a color coordinate with the card color.  Found some ribbon to match which is pulled through a slit in the fold.  I cut the label with one of the SU Apothecary Framelits.  I'm really happy with my purchase of these.  I punched a 1.25" circle then layered a MS Fleur de Lis punchie onto it.  This accent was then applied to the card front with 3D foam tape.  Great versatile design.

Card - Exchange - Poetry & Fleur de Lis

I made 2 of these for my exchange group.  I started with a green card.  I printed a poem a wrote a long time ago on heavy paper in a corresponding color.  I trimmed it to leave a nice border and glued it to the card front.  I added a warm mossy green gross grain ribbon which I pulled through a slit on the fold and taped the ends to the inside of the card.  I cut the label from the Apothecary Framelits set in a darker green. Punched a 1.25" circle in white onto which I layered a MS Fleur de Lis punchie. It was mounted to the card front with 3D foam tape.  Makes a great card for any occasion.

All Occasion Stack Class - Scallop Accent

This card features a scallop accent. It was created with the Stampin Up! Scallop punch, the 1 3.8" circle punch, a 1.25" circle with another shape punched into it. You want to punch the hole first then align the 1.25" punch over it. I used the MS Fleur de Lis, stars, hearts, daisies, etc. I mostly used stripped decorative paper. It card can be used in a tall or wide orientation. I picked colors from the decorative paper for the accent. Any color combination will do. Another versatile design.
