Slow Stitching - No. 030 - Cloth Folding

This week's prompt for K3N Cloth Tale's slow stitching challenge is cloth folding.

I took a much different approach.  I found a rayon garment at the thrift store for a very good price.  It was soft and draped very nicely.  Now to the ReUse center for a piece of cotton.  I found a peachy piece of cotton.  Yes!

All washed up, I kept the hem on the piece of fabric and just cut it down to create a lovely draped piece. Think a curtain, a shirt, a skirt and much more.

I hemmed the piece of cotton first. I then placed my draped fabric and stitched it down.  I used a piece of black felt as a finish for the top raw edge of the drape. I stitched all the way around with black thread, now for decoration I added some daisy stitches in the deep burgundy and seed stitches in the aqua.

It is a very different piece for me.  I am caught up and look forward to Monday's video.

Exchange Cards - Catch Up

Another set of exchange cards ready to go!

I chose double sided scrapbook paper - Small Floral - For the Record by Echo Park Paper.  I paired with with three coordinating card bases - green, red and peach.

These are DSP Splits so the scrapbook paper was cut toe 4 x 5.25 inches then cut crosswise at 3.5 inches.  The small piece was turned over and taped back to the larger. I added a white grosgrain ribbon across the join and tape the ends to the back. This layer was adhered to the card front.

I used StampinUp Five Petal Punch in coordinating colors for the accent.  I added a bright green daisy confetti in the center. These are held together with a white tiny brad.  The accent was then glued to the card front with 3D foam tape.

Another thank you card for Compassion House.

Same paper on the peach card stock.  The layering is all the same.

I found a partial greeting in my stash and added the YOU by cutting letters with the Stampin Up Little Letters thinlits set from green card stock.  I glued the letters the letters in place with Quick Dry Adhesive.

These are addressed and ready for the mail.

Blank Card Set

I made a set of cards for my aunt.  A funeral is a time where friends, service personnel and family are pitching in to make the arrangements.  Having cards handy makes it easy to express appreciation for the help.

In this set of cards I used a grey green card bases with a subtle floral designer paper in shades of green and grey.  The ribbon I used is called Knitting Ribbon.  It is beautiful soft ribbon about 3/8 inch wide. Love it.

I have use Prima Handmade Paper flowers as well with coordinating brads.

The flowers were peach, green, and shades of pink.  I have created a variety of designs with the flowers.

The other card has heart punchies in pink and white with small plastic pink flowers held in place with Bling Zots.

Challenge - Color Combo - Green Black Peach

I created this card for the challenge at CST which is a color combo.  I chose Peach, Green, Black from the 6 options.
I started with a green card onto which I added a black layer leaving a small border.  I chose a peach colored layer which I embossed with the Cuttlebug Swiss Dots folder. I found a piece of warm colored leaves designer paper which I cut down to 2.5" wide and then I flagged the bottom end.  This was glued to the embossed layer.  I cut a CB oval ribbon slider in the same card stock as the card.  I added a 1" circle greeting which was stamped with Versafine Onyx ink with a small clear stamp then punched out.  I ran the slider onto a piece of 3/8" black grosgrain ribbon which I wrapped around the peach layer and taped the ends to the back.

Upcycled - Peach Roses

I created a set of 4 cards by upcycling a large card.  I die cut the flowers with a Spellbinder smooth oval die and then cut a scallop oval to match from the coordinating green card stock.  I selected some peach card stock and embossed it with the Big Shot and the Cuttlebug Swiss Dots folder.  I added a piece of white seam binding across the centre and taped both ends to the back, leaving a bit of slack to allow me to tie the short piece on with a knot.  I mounted the oval rose accent with 3D foam tape.

R2G Card Kit - Jumbo Flowers

A Ready 2 Go Card Kit - another set of birthday cards.  Using up some peachy/coral circle stickers on the centre of the flower.  I used some on this card club card .  I started with a Groovy Guava card onto which I color printed a frame and greeting which matches the color of the flower. I cut flowers in turquoise, chocolate chip, navy and grey.  The jumbo flower was cut with a QuicKutz thin die.  The leaf was cut from designer paper with a Sizzix flower die.  The jumbo flower has 3 pieces: the centre, the zigzag border and the flower.  It's helpful to keep all three piece together to ensure the alignment of the centre and the flower during the gluing process.  Be sure to place the leaf behind the flower before gluing it down. The center and flower are glued down then the zigzag ring is removed to reveal the card color.

Card - Challenge - Stripes

I created this card for a challenge which is using stripes on the card.  I selected the striped paper then the card then the bright green paper.  I stamped the snow in Bravo Burgundy on warm red card stock.I glued the striped paper toward the bottom of a landscape card. I cut a triangle tree from the bright green, punched 1/4" circles from a peach card stock.  I glued the tree on the left hand side and added the peach circles onto the tree.  I punched a modern label in green then stamped the greeting onto peach card stock then punched it with the word window.  I stamped the greeting in Bravo Burgundy.

Card Club - Prima Flowers

We had a good group of ladies out for Card Club last night.  I started with a brown card.  I cut a Tim Holtz Ornamental die cut from designer paper.   I wanted the ribbon to the side so I tack it down to the card with a bit of double sided tape.  I was then able to glue down the die to the card front.  Then I tied the ribbon in a loose square knot.  I placed the small silk flower, then the medium silk flower and then finally the Prima Flower onto the brad.  I made a hole in the DP and card with a push pin then placed the brad through which holds the flowers securely.  Placed the insert and it's done.  I made cards with peach, white and hot pink flowers.

Sympathy - Embossed Floral

I used the Cuttlebug floral embossing folder on a piece of white cardstock and trimmed it. I glued it to a peach card. Added a gross grain ribbon in peach. You need a slit in the fold to pull the ribbon through and tape to the inside. I designed the circle greeting punched with 1 1/4" circle and punched a 1 3/8" circle to layer. Used Zots to adhere the greeting to the card. Quick!
