Tree Scent Ornaments - Spools

A few additions to the collection of 1 of a Kind Tree Scent ornaments.

Vintage wooden spool wrapped with red felt. I stitched a length of white lace to the bottom and added a bit of white stitch above it.

Cut two 1 inch circles of red felt to put on each end.

The bottom features a white pearl drop bead and the top a small white button. All hung with red wool yarn.

A wooden spool wrapped with lime green fleece.

Once that was stitched on I wrapped the spool with dark green embroidery floss onto which I placed matte gold EBeads along the way.

I cut 1" circles for the bottom and top of the spool.

I added a gold button with a shank on the bottom and a gold bead at the top above the green felt circle.

All hung on variegated green yarn.

I stitched a length of plum wool ftlt with a few stitches in green, white and yellow.

This was wrapped around a vintage wooden spool .

I cut two 1" circles in mustard felt for the top and bottom.

I added a plum colored button with a shank on the bottom and a tiny green button on the top over the felt circle.

All hung with plum embroidery thread.

I used a traditional red and green color theme on this Tree Scent ornament.

A red felt piece was stitched with white and green thread then stitched onto the wooden spool.

I selected 2 red buttons to go on the bottom and top of the ornament.

I cut two 1" circles of dark green felt for the top and bottom of the spool.

I ran red wool yarn to hold all the peices together and knotted at the top with several knots along the way.

These can be used as personal passive oil diffusers as you relax.

I Love You Card

I made a card for my Dad who is in hospital and not doing well.

He is too sick to have the surgery he needs to fix his arm which was broken in a fall very early morning Friday.

I just wanted to let him know that I love him and whatever happens all will be well.

We have started the process of him moving from the apartment to a place with more care.

He is in his early 90s and has survived many health issues.

I pray that God blesses him today and that he knows how much we all love him.

I watercolored the heart, ran a line of gold metallic ink around it and spattered it with the 3 colors I used - Nick Bantock - Vermilion, Rose Madder and Plum.  Added a gold ribbon wrapped around the card front and tape to the inside. Mounted the heart to a brown card A7 base with 3D foam tape.

Mosaic Monday - This Week

During my morning walk the other day, I had this Magpie bird following me along the trail.

It was sitting there and it looked like it was posing for a photo so I took one.

It was a lovely walk with a very nice temperature.  I always take my camera for just this type of opportunity.

We had a very stormy day last week where it rained all day.  The winds were very violent and cause a lot of damage to trees and other living things.

These three are the ones I saw on my walk the other morning.  It has been almost a week and only one of them had been addressed by someone.  I suspect it was not the city as the branches would have been removed.  It will take a long time to clean up from this record setting storm.

I started my photo shoot for the 2018 Tea Calendar.  I just love setting still lifes with tea related items.  This year books feature in some of the photos.  I made an effort in the last year to collect book with nice covers so I could include them in photos.

Keep an eye out for it later in the summer.

At card club last night one of the ladies was selling tomato plants for a fundraiser to send kids on a trip to British Columbia.  These are yellow pear tomato plants and are ready for larger pots.  I will pick up soil today and give them a home on the balcony.  I should plant my herbs as well.

This is the ornamental plum tree at the seniors residence down the street.  It was in full bloom and absolutely stunning.

Every branch had clusters of lovely pink blossoms.  Tightly packed they were.

Such beauty fills my soul for another day.

I am linking with Maggie at Normandy Life who hosts Mosaic Monday#42.

All Occasion Cards Boxed

I made a set of All Occasion cards as a donation for an event being held in September.  It will be used for a prize for a golf tournament.  I used One Sheet Wonder 1 and One Sheet Wonder 2 layouts with 2 different colors to create 12 different cards.
I used a black and white double sided card stock by My Mind`s Eye called Lush Black Floral.  This paper as floral on one side and polka dots on the other. I was able to combine it with almost any color.  I cut the neutral strips from a warm white card stock to .5 inch width. They were adhered over the edge of the DSP in the center of the card. Because the white is a white warm I chose jewel toned card stock in cherry and plum. The flower accent is created with the Stampin Up Blossom Party original die.  I cut the center with a warm white circle.  I chose black for the large flower and the same color as the card for the slimmer one.
I packaged them in my standard 6x6 clear box for a nice presentation.

Notecard - Honeycomb with Daisies

Another set of cards for my friend.  I chose card stock that matched the deep plum daisy confetti.  I added a layer of white core card stock which I embossed with the new Stampin Up! Honeycomb folder.  It works really nice. Once that layer was embossed I used a sanding block to remove the top layer of color to reveal the white core. I glued this layer to the card front. I then added the daisy confetti which is held in place with a tiny white brad to which I added a small white sequin which works with the white I revealed in the embossed layer.
I made several colors.  You could change the color of the daisies and card stock and the embossing folder as well which provides a wide array of different looks and feels.  A great versatile design.
