Juried Show Submissions - Postponed

We were to have deliver our pieces for the Juried Member Show today to see which pieces would go into the show but the COVID-19 pandemic has interrupted our plans.  The building has been closed for 3 days and the show is currently postponed. We will learn more on Tuesday.

My first piece was taken last March on my morning walk in the river valley.

It is features a very moody atmosphere.

It leaves one wondering. What lies ahead? Where does that faint staircase on the right lead to?  Kind of symbolic for the current health crisis in our world.

Title:  "Foggy Morning"

Size: 15 x 12 inches

This is another result from my oil on water photography.

I decided to take advantage of the color separation between blue and green.  I lightened the bubble in the top right hand corner to create a "Moon".  Another moody photo which creates an interesting landscape.

Title: "Moon Rising"

Size: 14 x 14 inches

I took this photo earlier this year at the Antique Market.  This sculpture was quite small measuring around 6 inches tall.  I don't really know what the circular structure is but it was being held by a monkey above his head.  I decided the wood circle was the best feature so that is what I made the focus.  I placed it on the floor so that I would have the natural wood boards as a background.

Worked out really well.

Abstraction Show at the Gallery

I dropped off my pieces for the Abstraction Show to the Gallery this morning.

This is a 10x10 frame photograph. The image is of the edge of peeling paint on the piece of fencing I found on my walk this summer.  It has great texture and is a very close macro.  The rust below provides great contrast to the yellow paint.

Mounted in a beech wood frame with a black mat.

The photo was printed at 6x6 inches.

This is titled - The Golden Edge.

This one of my oil on water experiments.   The background is placed on the bottom layer, the water container is placed on a glass shelf above the table.  The container is filled with water and a bit of oil is added to the surface.  I move the around with a bamboo skewer. Different oils will give you different colors. It is shot from directly above the water with the lens at a 90 degree angle.  The background is located below the water container with enough distance that it becomes blurred.  The fact that it is seperate allows quick changes in the background as you shoot.

Framed 10x10 inches in a white wood frame.

A double matted with a black to pick up the lines and a blue to highlight the background.

Photo printed at 6x6 inches.

I loved how the bubbles had 2 equal sized ones and a baby one so I titled it The 3 of Us!  SOLD!

This is my third entry.  It is lights at the top of a tall standard.

I applied a filter to accent the edges which produced this kind of googly eyes image.

It is frame at 11x14 in a black matte metal frame.

It is matted with a double black mat.

The image is printed at 8x10 inches.

The title of this one is Kermit in Blue.

HB - Sister

I chose one of my oil on water abstracts for a birthday card for my sister. Her favorite color is green and she likes things that are more muted.

I will see her tonight at the Solstice Party one of my other sisters is hosting. She is hosting a party as she has just finished another summer course and it is the longest day of the year!

I love the dark edges of the bubbles and their evenness of their surface.

There is a good variety of sizes and they sit on this ledge of muted green which is a large pool of oil along the bottom.
