Welcome to my Kitchen

It was Welcome to my Kitchen today and a lady who now lives in a lodge was our host.  When a couple from the group visited her in the fall she asked if she could be host.  We decided to give it a try.

It was cold this morning but our plans to car pool went well. The facility has little parking but the street parking was adequate.

We had 25 ladies in attendance.  Our group is growing and meeting a need.

The food was great as usual but we increased the contributors to accommodate the amount needed for the size of the group.

Our devotion presented the principle of targeting. When in a motor vehicle we can manage obstacles by focusing where we want to be not the object in the way.

Psalm 121 was read. We can use the same principle in our spiritual lives by focusing on the help and not our problems.  We had 6 ladies from the lodge attend some of which had connections with ladies in the regular group.  It was very good.

I have prepared a survey and I will compile the results to see where we are going with the group.

At one point this afternoon we had large fluffy snowflakes coming down on a very cold day.

I took a photo of a couple on the windshield of my car.

My macro lens did a decent job of capturing the structure. I was happy with these results.

Refurbished Card - Second Life

I have received many wonderful cards from friends, coworkers, family over the years.

These cards are way too nice to throw away.

When I heard that card donations were needed for a church fundraiser

I refurbished 25 of them and am ready to have them have a second life.

25th Wedding Anniversary Card

Here's the card I made for the happy couple celebrating their 25th Wedding Anniversary.

I started with a grey card which supports the silver theme.  I then embossed a white layer with the Cuttlebug DeVine Swirl folder.  Trimmed the piece to leave a small border.  I added a greeting that I used in this class.  It was adhered to the card front with 3D foam tape.  I punched the 2 hearts from silver foil adhesive with the Stampin Up Sweetheart punch.  The numbers 25 was cut with the GoGoBoots sizzlet set.  These were adhered to the card front above the sentiment.

25th Anniversary Wishing Well

I was asked to make a pretty box for a surprise 25th Wedding Anniversary celebration taking place soon. It's designed to hold monetary donations for the blessed couple.

I chose a box which I planned to cover and decorate.  I thought it needed some weight so I created a false bottom into which I added some heavy material.  The false bottom was hot glued into the bottom of the box.  I then wrapped the box with silver gift wrap.  First the bottom then the top.  Where the papers joined I added 2 lengths of brown silver edged ribbon held in place with double sided tape.  I created a large bow with silver ribbon and adhered that to the front of the box.  It is held in place with Zots.  To the hole in the top I added some silver tape to make the edges smooth.  I added a die cut Stampin Up Top Note in Chocolate Chip card stock.  I cut out the shape of the hole with an E-xacto knife then adhered the die cut onto the top of the box.  I added 2 SU Sweetheart punchies from the adhesive tape on both corners.  I will be placing it on a glass platter with a white paper doily to set off the box.  I'm happy with the way it turned out.
