Technical Pen Refurbished #2

I found another Staedtler marmagno 2 technical pen in my stash of pens. Amazing.

I have picked up these pens second hand.  They looked like quality pens.

Yes, it took another 24 hours to clean out this one cartridge of ink so I could refill it.

I have not been able to find out what the numbers mean or when they were manufactured.

This one makes a very thin line.

The number 1 on one side and .45 on the other side.

I decided to try this FW acrylic ink which indicates on the bottle that it can be used in technical pens.

I have several colors but chose Sepia to have a neutral.  I would have liked black but I decided to shop my stash instead of buying new.

You see that permanence is 4**** which is good. I will test it out a bit later.

So here is my set up once the cartridge was cleaned.

I put some FW Sepia acrylic ink in this small glass container.  I did add 8 drops of distilled water to thin it out a bit.

I injected it into the cartridge with my blunt syringe and screwed the nib in place.

Put it into the barrel and let it stand for a little bit to allow the ink to descend into nib assembly.

I discovered this feature this second time around. Last time I used pliers top loosen the nib.

The cap has the wrench to loosen the nib!  What a cool thing.

These are very well engineered pens.

Yes, the Sepia acrylic ink is waterproof.

You can see the writing I did with the pen once the ink was coming through the nib.

I just washed over with a water and a brush.

No movement.

Very good!

Inktober 2024 - 25 Camera

Inktober 2024 Challenge

26 - Camera

This is the only prompt from the official list that I have followed.  I chose an antique wood camera for its height in this format.

Pencilled then traced with a black marker.  This mixed media paper has worked very well.

I mixed a sepia colored watercolor and added an overall wash to give an old feel.

Card Club - March - Birch Birthday

We have guy card this month.

I started with the Stampin Up Woodland Textured Impressions Embossing Folder.  I rubbed the background half of the folder with my Versafine Vintage Sepia ink pad.  I cut my paper 6 inches wide and 5.5 inches tall.  I ran the folder through my Big Shot.  I trimmed the embossed piece into three 2 inch pieces which I trimmed to 4.75 inch tall.

I took a 4.25 x 5.5 inch piece of white card stock and ripped it in half.  This piece was trimmed to 5 inches tall. These were layered and glue together.

I cut pieces of designer paper by 7gypsies - For Autumn Leaves into pieces 4 x 5.25 inches which were adhered to the front of a black card.

The birch tree accent was adhered to the card front with 3D foam tape.

I color printed the greeting on white card stock and punched them out with the SU 1.75 inch circle punch.  I designed it so the words are all aligned to the right hand side of the circle. Then the circle greeting was tucked behind the accent and glued in place.

Card - Retirement - Hunting and Fishing

I made this card for a friend who retired recently. He is an outdoorsman so I expect these pursuits will be part of this new chapter.

I started with a picture of the lake in the morning I took last summer at Pine Lake Camp.  I adjusted the color to be sepia and added the sentiment in a color to match the accent. The accent is a picture I found on line of an old tin sign which I printed in the size I needed.  It expressed the sentiment I wanted. Once the card was printed I added a grosgrain ribbon with just a bit of the same blue as in the tin just below the greeting.  I mounted the accent on the right hand side of the greeting with 3D foam tape.

Cmas Card Challenge - Feb - Musical Christmas

Musical Christmas could include carolers, instruments, or hymns. What comes to mind?
I started with Bazzil Mocha Divine card stock. I printed a scanned image of the music for the "Little Drummer Boy" song on vanilla card stock (4 per 8.5x11). The quarter sheet was was trimmed, smudged with ink and I distressed it's edges. I wrapped the bronze organza ribbon around just below the song title, knotted it and trimmed it's ends. This layer was glued to the card front. I cut a matching oval of card stock with my Creative Memories oval cutter and then trimmed a sepia colored image of the Little Drummer Boy. This accent was then mounted on the card with 3D foam tape.
I made 6 of these.

Card - Digital - Joy

I designed this card with a decorative font and a polished stone background image. I scanned a background I did up this summer. The word JOY is 3 separate letters layered onto a square of polished stone background which has been converted to sepia. It took a while to work out the print colors, card stock and the layout. It is printed in chocolate brown on natural parchment card stock.
