Card - HB - Blue Birdie

A blue bird card for a friend celebrating a birthday this week.

I chose a SU So Saffron A2 card base.  Then a piece of blue watercolor designer paper but to leave a narrow border.

I added a length of rick rack along the left hand side and taped the ends to the back.  This was then adhered to the card front with ds tape.

I punched the bird with the SU Bird Builder punch. Punched the branch again in green.

The bird was assembled and then adhered to the card front with 3D tape.

Quarter sheet insert and it is on its way!

Card - Slow Stitching - Blue Bird

A blue bird card for my next slow stitching card.

I am still using my original slow stitching background and creating compositions to fit.

I chose some blue fabric and cut a bird and wing. The bird was just held with running stitch. A tiny bead for it's eye.

I have used jute for the branches and those were tacked in place. I added leaves.

The piece was trimmed to 3.5 x 4.75 inches and adhered to an A2 Island Indigo card base.  It has been pressed under books to ensure it stays stuck.

Adding to my card box.

Birthday Cards for Mom

I made some ready made birthday cards for my Mom as a Christmas gift. She usually makes her own but it's nice to have a few ready to give cards.

I chose a warm dark blue which matched the bird nicely.  I added the blue bird (it's a post it note). Put a bit of white behind the eye. Added a wing which was cut with the Cricut and embossed with the Cuttlebug Devine Swirl folder.  Added a branch cut with the Stampin Up Little Leaves sizzlet. Added a SU Modern Label/Word Window greeting.  Designer paper by Karen Foster.

With the bird in the middle of this card I chose to just add a greeting in the bottom left hand corner.  I chose a medium pink card.

This one received a blue greeting instead of a pink one. I just love this paper.

The paper is Indigo Dreams Gypsy Stripe by Recess Carson-Dellosa.  A warm dark blue card base with a SU Word Window greeting.  I changed the orientation on the second one.

I am mailing a parcel to my parents this year.  That is a first time in twenty years.  I have almost always with my parents for Christmas.  Makes me sad!

All Occasion Card Gift

I gift a friend a stash of cards for her Christmas gift each year.

These are DSP Split design with designer paper made by Fiskars - Cloud 9 Design - Blue Shore Flowers.  I chose a warm green card base.

I cut the paper into 4.00 x 5.25 inches then cut again at 3.5 inches and taped the pieces back together after flipping one of the pieces.

I have placed a length of the white grosgrain ribbon across the join and taped the ends to the back.

I placed a blue bird post it on top with a couple of branches created with the SU Bird Builder Punch.

I added the beak lines with a gel  marker and a white mini brad for the eye.  The wing was cut with the Cricut.

This is a basic DSP Split based on the instruction above.

I chose a dark green card base.

I added a greeting printed and punched with the SU Decorative Label punch.  It was adhered over the ribbon with 3D foam tape.

I chose a white card base for this card and chose to keep the solid blue side.

I added a greeting done with the same punch and adhered with 3D foam tape.

I added hexagonal diecuts cut with Spellbinder Nestabilities thinlit dies.

I chose to repeat the blue and add a punch of red.

I added a thread tied to the grosgrain ribbon to repeat the accent color.

I have added several more cards from my stash and packaged them along with her Caramel Popcorn.  Always a favorite.

Photo - Ellis Bird Farm

My sister and I visited Ellis Bird Farm on the weekend.  What a gorgeous day!
Mr. Ellis set out to provide a safe place for blue birds to nest and raise their young.  The farm has many bird houses. Birds like purple martins, wrens, cedar waxwings and others are flying over head. Bird song can be heard at all times.
Ms Ellis set up the gardens to attract butterflies to ensure pollination and production of fruit and berries.  There is a new visitor center building will be helpful in their continued education programs.
There is a wonderful tea house where we sat and enjoyed a tea and dessert.

Cards for Mom - Post it Birds

I made some of these bird cards for my Mom.  I've made some before which you can see here.  These are the cutest post it notes you ever saw.  I'm so glad I picked them up when I saw them.
On this card with the blue bird I used the some Karen Foster designer paper but selected cherry cobbler card stock.  A strip of old olive across the bottom with a Stampin Up Small Leaves sizzlet in white. The wing was cut with the Cricut and the Create a Critter cartridge then I embossed it with the Cuttlebug D'vine Swirl folder.  I added a definition to the beak with a white gel marker and used a white brad for the eye.

For the purple bird I selected some Echo Park Paper Co. designer paper. It's soft muted tones worked well.  It's double sided so I cut it at 3.5" and flipped the smaller piece.  I added a strip of blue green card stock with the other details mentioned above being the same.

For the pink bird I chose some Renae Lindgren designer paper by Imaginations.  I chose a deep olive green card stock with matched very well with the paper.  Same details as above.

These are great cards which can be used for any occasion.

Calendars - Blue Bird - Ready to Go

Another 4 x 6 photo calendar ready to go.  The art work on this calendar was done by my sister Therese Malak.  You can check out her work here. It features a blue bird through all the months of the year.  I've posted it on my calendar page.

I've put the index page here for a peek.  These make a great gifts.  I hope to connect with those organized early Christmas shoppers.
