Card Making with Seniors - Flower Trio

I started with the gold foil flower stickers which are about 1 inch in diameter. I stuck them to turquoise card stock then punched them out with the 1.25 inch circle punch. Easier to align that way and ensure even spacing on the border.

I created a new large greeting which I printed on a quarter sheet of vellum and gold embossed it.

The trio of circle accents were adhered above the greeting first.  This allowed me to know where to put my adhesive to glue it to the card front.

The vellum was adhered to the front of a black card once I had ripped the bottom edge.

Card Making with Seniors - Postage Stamp

This is a stash busting card.  Many years ago I collected postage stamps from letters sent to the place I worked.  I have sorted, culled, and sorted again several times over the years.

I decided on this bright postage in honor of the 125th Anniversary of the Universal Postal Union issued in 1999.  It was soaked off the paper it was glued to and then allowed to dry.

I mounted it to a piece of card stock slightly smaller to stiffen it.

I created a background with script and cancellation stamp images from The Graphics Fairy which goes with the concept of a postage stamp.  Digitally, I added a box for the stamp then printed the background on a quarter sheet. It was trimmed to leave a small border.  It was adhered to the front of the bright green card.

I applied 3D foam tape to the back of the stiff postage stamp and adhered it in the window.

Here's another version with the Rural Mail Boxes stamps issued in 2000.

Sending these to my card exchange buddies.

Card Making with Seniors - June - Gear Collage

I wanted a card suitable for a guy in this class so I dug out the Tim Holtz Alterations Gadget Gears by Sizzix.

I selected this multicolored polka dot designer paper from Michaels.  I selected 3 colors of card stock for these cards - rust, medium blue and pea green.

I layered quarter sheets of all three colors of card stock and cut them all at once with this original thick die.  Fast.

The greetings were printed to coordinate with the card color on ivory card stock.

I adhered the piece of designer paper from Recollections at Michaels called Disco Ball to the card front.  I assembled the collage of gears which was adhered to the top of the card. I ripped the top and bottom edge of the greeting and placed it at the bottom of the card below the gears.  It is held in place with tiny gold star brads on the left and right of the greeting.

Here's one with the blue card and the greeting put at the top instead.

Card Making with Seniors - April - Watercolor Flower

These are art from Joanne Fink.  I used watercolor pencils to color them.  They measure 3.75 x 4.50 inches.

I then chose card stock colors which coordinated with them.  The black allows the painted art to be highlighted.  Then a layer of turquoise to coordiate with the bloom and green to match the leaves and stems.

The vellum greeting was printed then clear embossed.  The top and bottom of the greeting was ripped.  It was placed across the art and the ends were taped to the back of the black layer.

This was adhered to the blue then that to the green layer.

Makes a quick and easy card with great layers.

The same card with different layer color, this time pink.  This allows you to change the look of the card for a particular person perhaps.

This one is off to my card exchange buddy.

Card making with Seniors - April - Double Cut

This design I cased from my sister.  Check hers out here.

I cut the designer paper to 3.75 x 5 inches.  Then I cut it again to create the square in the corner.  I cut the blue layer to 4.00 x 5.25 inches onto which I glued my designer paper pieces making sure the pattern was maintained.

This layer was adhered to a warm red card to match the red in the designer paper.

I then printed square greetings and trimmed them to the frame.  This was layered onto the same card stock as the card.  Once adhered together, the greeting was adhered over the intersection of the cuts with 3D foam tape.

Options: cut the designer paper at angles or punch a hole and cut in 4 like this one.  Would be great for a circle greeting.

Card Making with Seniors - April - Tea Cups

I love cutting these small tea cups. They were cut on the Cricut set at 1" using the Joy of the Season cartridge.  I chose double sided card stock to cut the cups.

I printed the large greeting onto white card stock.  I chose a brown card to match the backside of the left and right teacups.

I placed the colorful one in the center adhered with 3D foam tape. I then evenly adhered the other two on either side.

Choosing different designer papers and therefore greeting and card stock colors produces a quite different card.

This one is off to my card exchange buddy.

Christmas Card - Wreath

I started with the canvas wreath.

I then printed my wreath drawing and greeting in Early Espresso onto a quarter sheet of vanilla card stock.  This layer was trimmed to leave a small border and adhered to a dark brown card.

I added the canvas wreath over the center of the string wreath.

I created the bow with chocolate brown cotton, vanilla cotton and red cotton strung together then used as a single strand tied into a bow.  This is held in place with a Zot.

Christmas Card - Gold Ornaments

I started with a 4 inch square die cut featuring gold Christmas ornaments.  The colors are grey blues, vanilla and gold.

I chose a half inch organza ribbon in gold and vanilla and a blue grey card.

I punched slots in the square 2 at the top and one at the bottom.  I threaded the ribbon through the top bottom behind back to the front at the bottom up the back on the inside of the card, back to the front down into the top slot and tied the ribbon in a square knot.  The ends were trimmed with scissors.

I added a fabric vanilla snowflake in the top right hand corner with a Zot.

Christmas Card - Felt Reindeer

The focal element of this card is a brown felt reindeer.
I printed a border and greeting onto cream card stock.
The reindeer was a bit large for the card front so I adhered him with a large red brad for his eye.
I added a Zot under his tail to keep him in place.
I trimmed a bit off his from legs and the card was good to go.

Christmas Card - DSP Split - BoBunny

This card features the designer paper by BoBunny called Rejoice Collection.

I chose a snowflake and strip to create a DSP split.  The stripe was cut to 3.5x4.00 inches and the snowflake at 1.75x4.00. These were taped together and handled as one piece.
I placed the chocolate & vanilla grosgrain ribbon across the split and taped the ends to the back.  This layer was then adhered to the front of a Christmas green card.
I cut the snowflake with one of the Marianne Design Creatables - Snowflakes Style 1 dies.  I cut it from cream pearl card stock.
It was placed over the ribbon and a push pin was used to make the hole for the chocolate brad which holds a red round sequin and the snowflake.
