Card Fronts Relayered

I have designed and made Christmas cards for churches for many years.  They were always simple designs to make them affordable.

These are my designs where the card front was trimmed and then layered onto a new card base.

This one is a background I designed using scripture as the words in a script font.
The word Rejoice was added over the script background in navy blue.

I then cut a star using the Sizzix Star #2 die which is a large single star. It almost does not fit on the card front so I just offset it.  The yellow card stock was spattered with gold acrylic paint and allowed to dry then it was die cut.

This layer was then adhered to the navy card to match with the greeting on the front.

This card featured angel clipart.

This is a heralding angel with her trumpet and it printed in a dark grey color.

The greeting was printed in red.

A piece of decorative paper which repeats the colors of black, grey and red was adhered to the left of the angel.

The card front was trimmed and adhered to a black card.  Works really well.

Left: The same card done with the angel in green with red, green and gold decorative paper.  The front was layered onto a kelly green card.

This design featured heralding angels again.

This time it is a symbol available from the DF Calligraphic Ornaments font set.  It was sized to fit on a 1 3/8 inch circle, printed on white card stock and punched with the Stampin Up circle punch.  It was layered onto a SU scallop circle punchie in a coordinating color of card stock.

The greeting was created with a decorative script font in the same color as the angel.

The card front was trimmed and layered onto a new coordinating purple card base.

This card features a vintage Christmas card image with folks headed into church Christmas Eve.

I cropped the image into an oval format and added a shadow.

It was printed onto white card stock.

I added a double snowflake element in the top right hand corner.  The white card stock snowflake is a Martha Stewart punch and the iridescent one is a fiber one sold as confetti.  These were placed on the border and held in place with a white tiny brad.

This card front was trimmed layered onto a new card base in a warm green color.

I've had a successful day getting cards ready for my card box and the box for craft sales.

My box now has 125 cards in it!!

Christmas Card - Madonna

I created this Christmas card for the same friend who wanted a variety of cards.  I found this image on Pixabay which hosted royalty free images.

The image of Mary and baby Jesus was soft and lovely.  I printed it on the card front with a taupe border.  I added a Crumb Cake greeting from the Stampin Up Come to Bethlehem stamp set cut with the Bitty Banner Framelits.  It is adhered to the card front with 3D foam tape.

It's a lovely card.

Christmas Cards - Gentle Peace - Stained Glass

I created these cards for a friend who ordered some Christmas cards.  I printed the stained glass background which I created with my own photos and photo filters.  I printed the background onto the card front with a border and greeting in deep grey as black was too stark.  I then created my holy family layer with the Stampin Up Gentle Peace polymer stamp set.  I again, selected a grey color and clear embossed the image on vellum.  I cut them out and adhered them to the card front with a single gold glitter star brad.

Nativity - Aphothecary Framelit

I made a few Christmas cards this weekend.  I started with a photo of my office Nativity.  I cut it with a framelit from the Stampin Up Apothecary set.  I chose a deep mauve color for the card which matched well.  With the colors in the image I could have gone with green, navy or ivory as well. I then laid out my greeting to match the curve of the die cut and color printed it on the card stock.  Then adhered the nativity die cut and it was done!!

O Holy Night Card Set

This set of card was made with a photo I took of the nativity set up in my office.   I created a purple gradient background onto which I placed a green frame.  Into the frame I inserted my photo.  I added the words O HOLY NIGHT in a ivory color.  It was printed on card stock and then I trimmed it.  I created a frame in a deep purple color onto an ivory card.  The nativity panel was adhered in the frame.

This set was packaged in a 6x6 clear box with a custom card stock spacer.

Burgundy Star Peace Card Set

This set of cards was created with digital graphics from Aria Sparkles and printed. I created a gradient background onto which the word was placed near the bottom.  I placed the star on the left tucking one point of the star into the word. The panel was trimmed.  I created a burgundy frame and printed it on Astroparche Natural card stock.  The panel was adhered to the card front aligned into the frame.

This set will be donated to an auction. They have been packaged in a 6x6 clear box with a custom spacer.

This was one of the projects I took to my sister's on the long weekend.  I had a great visit with her.

Challenge - 1 Layer Splatters

I started with a white card.  I created spatters with a toothbrush brushed against a craft knife for the small ones and a wetter toothbrush slapped against the knife for the larger ones.  The colors I used are: Vivid Teal dye ink and Nick Bantock Rose Madder.  I then stamped the large Joy to the World by InkaDinkado in Versafine Black Onyx which I quickly added embossing powder and heat embossed.  I added a star in the left hand corner by hand with a black marker.

I'm submitting this card to this challenge.

Rejoice - Watercolor

Here's another card that was included in the box.  This a design I put together quite a few years ago and it still works well.  I did the watercolor background and scanned it.  Place it on my card digitally then added the sentiment.  This was color printed then the splatter of silver acrylic paint was added with a toothbrush.  Once dry I added the star die cut from silver decorative paper.  The diecut is one of from the Sizzix Stars die.

Card - Season of Light

I made this card to be included in a box of Christmas cards for a girl at work.  She wanted religious cards so this is one of the 5 designs I included.  The background turned out just the way I wanted.  I wanted a gradient background from red to yellow so I could put the flame at the top. I created the background then applied a stained glass texture to it.  Love the way it turned out.  I printed it on white card then added the Sentiment Candle by Hampton Arts gold thermal embossed on vellum.  I cut the vellum with the Stampin Up Apothecary Framelit and adhered it to the card front with 2 tiny gold star brads.

Peace Card Set

I made another set of cards for a donation to a fundraiser.

I found green backgrounds from the web then created the word PEACE with digital images from Aria Sparkle.  I created an oval with a gradient fill with a dark border.  I layered the word on top of it. I found the sprig of olive branch on CLKER.  The bottom one is a gradient background with darker edges.

Once the card was printed I added a pearl white card stock die cut of a dove on the top and a star on the bottom one. These are Sizzix dies.

Rusty Star Wreath Card Set

This is another set of cards for the auction.

This is a wreath is my own design.  I have printed it in a warm dark green.  I have placed rusty stars onto it.  I added a great greeting in several fonts in the same colors in the wreath.  I added a great organza ribbon bow in a warm copper color.

The stars were diecut with the Sizzix Stars#2 die from copper card stock.

Yet, again in a clear box.

Snow Angel Card Set

Another set of Christmas cards for the auction.  I started with a photo I took of a vintage snow angel Christmas decoration.  I added a night sky in warm tones then layered over it a texture background of falling snow that I designed. I added a snowbank on the bottom of the card with the "Peaceful Wishes" greeting layered over it.  I printed this onto ivory card stock.  I then added a matte gold star die cut with the Sizzix die.  This was added to the card front with a glue dot to add just a wee bit of dimension. Super happy with this one!

I then packaged the set of 20 cards in a clear square box.  I added a spacer just like the retail industry does which worked out really well. The box was purchased from a packaging store.

This looks great.

Ornament Trio Card Set

I made a set of these cards for a donation to an auction happening soon.  I made this set last year which proved popular.

I created the boughs from a real photograph of pine branch.  I drew the ornaments, the hangers, and the snow background.  The centre Love was printed, punched and mounted with 3D foam tape to add dimension.

The set contained 20 cards in a really nice clear box.  I made a spacer just like the retail industry does which works really well.  The box was purchased from a packaging store.

This looks great.

Card Club - Incentive

Here's the cute cards I made for the girls at Card Club who paid for the full semester.

I made note cards again.  I color printed a sentiment with a line below on the card then applied washi tape below the line. It really helped to have the line to make sure my tape was straight.  I chose a variety of sentiments to handle a collection of uses.

They received 6 cards - a combination of these 5 designs packaged in a great way.  Check my next post for that pic.

Card - Holy Family Snow Globe

I created this card for a project that did not come together so I'm posting the cards now.
I started with a photo of a holy family porcelain art piece.  I applied a filter to it to have only the edges highlighted in a dark green color, probably Always Artichoke.  I cropped it into a circle.  I created the base digitally and filled it with a rich jewel toned pattern.  I color printed the greeting and wrapped it around the circle of the family.  I cut a piece of acetate with my Spellbinder Circle Nestabilities which exactly matches the size of the snow globe.  This suggests the glass part of the snow globe and it is held in place with a tiny brass star brad.

Notecard - Thank You - Gold Script

I made some more note cards for my friend who has lost her dad recently.  The black silhouettes are die cuts from the Tim Holtz movers and shapers. I traced a oval frame onto the card with a black thin nib marker before I glued them down.  The bee is a Sizzlet mounted on a piece of gold paper of which I flagged it's ends.  The leaf is a Tim Holtz Tattered Leaves die cut in dark brown which is brushed with a Chocolate Chip ink pad. The thank you is gold foil.

Cards - Herald Angels

I made a bunch of these cards for a customer. I designed the card front with a heralding angel from Dover. I was fortunate that I could change the color of these images, so I coordinated the angel color with the strip of paper I added on the left hand side.  I selected foil paper in all cases.  I had the request not to have sticking out from the card front so brads, 3D foam, rhinestones were eliminated. It was a bit challenging but the design works.

Card - Christmas Eve

I created this card by first selecting a church scene.  I'm sure it's Christmas Eve with folks headed to church. The image was cropped into an oval to which I added a shadow.  I adjusted the colors of the image so that I had a cool image and another which was warmer. The card was color printed and I added a MS snowflake in white topped with a fabric snowflake held in place with tiny white brad.

Card - Joy to the World

I designed this card with just words in different fonts and colors.  I placed them on an oval filled with a green gradient fill.  The added embellishment is confetti daisies in green and red which looks like a poinsettia.  These are held in place with a white tiny brad.

Card - Watercolor Ornaments

These cards are mostly color printed then I add some additional elements. I drew the ornament myself then filled it with my own watercolors scans. This gives me the ability to make them in a full range of colors. The evergreen branch was created from a photo I took this summer.  I added a string with a knot.  Top Left: I selected a true blue card stock that worked with the color of the ornament.  I cut 2 Sizzix stars, one from the blue and then one from silver glitter paper.  I added a greeting in a matching color.  I used liquid glue to adhere the stars. This one is cooler in tone. Bottom Right: This one is warmer in tone so I used a turquoise card stock for the star with a teal glitter paper.
