Baby Boy - Artemis

I made this card for my nephew's son who was born in Feb 2016.  We will see him for the first time this weekend on Saturday evening at a family celebration.
I started with a deep teal card folded in half to make a large card. I cut the designer paper by Adornit - Carolee's Creations - Cold Water Collection - Ice.  I printed the first part of the sentiment onto it along with the banner and then trimmed it to leave a small border.  I then adhered his name in large letters which I had cut from the same card stock as the card with my Sizzix Shadow Box Alphabet dies.  I adhered them along the bottom but as you can see not quite straight.  I added confetti triangles to repeat the ones in the banner.   The card colors complement the gift wrap I used on the gift.

Card - Challenge - HB Envelope

I made this card to meet a few challenges.
Designer Paper - I started with the patterned paper by Webster Pages - Kickball.
Envelope - I made the envelope with the Sizzix Scallop Envelope Bigz die by Stampin Up.  I used a watercolored turquoise paper which I warmed up with Tim Holtz Antique Linen Distress Stain because it was too white for the DSP.  I stamped the greeting in warm green with a small SU stamp.
Masculine HB - The colors were quite masculine, so to add to that feeling, I hid the scallop edge of the envelope with a small card which was the same color as the card and just fit inside.   I cut the letters HB with the Sizzix Shadow Box dies in complementary colors of light and dark blue green.
Ribbon - I added a length of caramel seam binding across the DSP which I knotted before I adhered the envelope to the front.

I'm submitting this card to the following challenges:
1. Daring Card Makers - Envelope
2, Hazel's Patterned Paper - February
3. Crazy For Cards - C4C271 - Masculine HB

Christmas Card Challenge - April - Coloring

The challenge for April was coloring.  This could be watercolor, pencil crayon, markers, copics, acrylic, wax crayons and I've likely missed a few.  Choose your favorite or challenge yourself with one you've had a hard time using and go for it!  If you make a card let me a comment with a link to your card.  I would love to see what you have made.

Here's my card for April.  I started with coloring some chip board coasters with Tim Holtz Distress Stain.  See my previous posts for a sample.  I chose the vintage colors for this card.  I cut the letters from the Aged Mahogany chip board with my Sizzix Shadow Box Alphabet. I cut the SU! Apothecary die cut from Echo Park Paper - Tree Skirt from the Season's Greetings Collection by Lori Whitlock.  I rubbed the edges of the diecut with the distress stain dauber.  I glued the JOY letters to the Apothecary die cut with quick drying adhesive.  I created my background layer with a piece of white card stock aged with the TH Antique Linen distress stain.  I cut it down to leave a border. I found a piece of gross grain ribbon to match the letters and mounted it onto the back ground and taped the ends to the back.  The background is adhered to a piece of coordinating green card stock. I glued the JOY letters to the Apothecary diecut with quick drying adhesive.  The label diecut is adhered over the ribbon to the background with 3D foam tape.

Card - Card for a young man

I made this for a young man whose birthday was a few weeks ago but I missed it!
I started with the decorative paper and found a card to match.  I color printed the greeting in navy blue on white card stock.  I ripped the to and bottom edges and glued it to the front leaving room for the large U.  I cut the main letter and shadow with Sizzix Shadow Box dies. I added the ribbon flags next to the greeting with staples.
I'm happy with it!

Card Club - Feb - HB to U

I matched the card color to the tag.  I used my Sizzix Shadow Box Alphabet to cut the "U" from the tag.  I color printed the greeting onto cardstock and cut the piece 2"x 4.25".  After aligning the tag and the greeting under it I glued the greeting to the card as determined.  I tied the ribbon to the tag by running it through the "U" and around the tag edge and tied a knot. I used 2 color coordinated brads to hold the tag to the card. I had several color variations with this kit.

GG - Gold Joy

I updated these cards from my Greetings Galore (GG) Nov 2010 class since a few ladies requested kits.
I created some decorative paper using card stock and Radiant Rain - Egyptian Gold.  I used purple, navy and black card stock. I found the spray bottle clogged a lot so I just poured some liquid from the bottle onto a plate, dipped a toothbrush and ran it across a butter knife to splatter my card stock.  Once dry, I cut my card stock piece down to 2"x5.25" and glued it to the left hand side of my card. I cut my letters from gold embossed paper with my Sizzix Shadow Box Alphabet and glued those over the decorative paper.  I then embossed the right hand side of the card with the Sizzix Stars & Swirls folder.

Card - Christmas JOY

Cleaning up leftovers. I made this card with materials cut while working out the card kit I posted earlier. I chose cherry card stock to go with button. Die cut the shadows in dark green with the Sizzix Shadow Box alphabet and the letters J&Y in cherry. Glued the cherry letters to the dark green shadows. The ornament under the button in green is a Sizzix as well. Cut the hanger from cherry and glued it on. I pulled some cherry thread through a hole made with a push pin. I glued the J then the Y then centered the ornament in between. I brought the thread up over the edge of the decorative paper and taped it to the back. Glued the decorative paper onto the card front. I'm submitting this card to Sparkles Christmas Challenge this week which needed die cuts.

Card Kits - Joy with Damask Buttons

I put together this Christmas Card Stack kit this week. I had just enough Damask buttons left from my card club class to make a stack kit. I found some decorative paper to match the mustard and olive buttons I had. I selected cardstock in cherry red and olive green colors. I cut the word JOY with my Sizzix Shadow Box dies, the shadow in ivory and the letters in red. These are glued red over ivory. I selected some gross grain ribbon in 2 shades of green. I tied red thread in the holes of the buttons and trimmed the ends. I trimmed and glued the decorative paper to the card front. I added a bit of glue to the back of the ribbon and placed about .75" from the top of the card. Brought both ends to the inside of the card and taped them down. I used a glue dot to adhere the button to the ribbon. I glued the letters below the ribbon, first the J then the Y and centered the O in between. The kit makes 16 cards. You can check my website link on the right hand side or follow this link for available kits.

GG - Christmas - JOY

I selected green and red cardstock and ribbon. I added gold die cut letters to say "JOY". The fold is on the top. The decorative paper was trimmed to fit beside the embossing and the ribbon was placed between them. A slit was placed in the fold to pull the ribbon through and was taped to the inside of the card. The gold letters were glued over the decorative paper. On the bottom sample I left out the decorative paper and used the red ribbon to contrast. I laid the card sideways and had my greeting going across instead of up and down.

Scrapbook Layout - F of S - Love

I chose love of family, of country, your enemies and your brothers for my themes. I found photos appropriate to each of them. I drew the heart by hand and cut it out in 4 different colors. I chose to cut my journalling vellums in oval shapes. I am so grateful for Christian parents and living in Canada. Title is cut with the Sizzix Shadow Box alphabet.

Cards - Christmas

While working through some ideas for my Christmas Stack Classes I designed this card. I started with a deep forest green cardstock with a felt finish. I embossed the left side with a Cuttlebug folder. I added wide burgundy smooth ribbon with gold edges. This was a top fold card to allow me to emboss it the way I wanted so the ribbon was pulled through a slit in the fold at the top and taped down on the inside. I cut the JOY greeting from gold decorative paper with my Sizzix Shadow Box dies. Glued the letters down with DS tape. I added a bit of DS tape beneath the ribbon as well to give the whole accent some stability. The embossing folder affected the texture of the card stock it would have been better to use a smooth cardstock. I found sticking the letters to the ribbon was not the best idea. On my final sample I addressed some of those issues. I used smooth cardstock, decorative paper on the right hand side and a narrow ribbon as a transition from the embossing to the paper and letters. Now the letters were being glued to paper which work much better. I selected the cardstock based on the decorative paper. I have made some red and some green. It's a brigther card which I like. Now I need a few people to sign up! Check out my website by following the link on the right handside of this blog. or there's the address: www.itsmysite.com/smdgreetings

Card Club - December - Binding Edge Border Punch

I started with the Binding Edge border punch by EKSuccess on a piece of ruled paper. I used striped scrapbook paper and some coordinating chocolate chip gross grain ribbon. I made the slit in the top fold with the SU Horizontal Slot punch. The large "U" is cut with the Sizzix Shadow Box alphabet die. There possible many color combinations. This one's colors would make it a card for a great guy.
