Slow Stitching project - May - Tiny Fabric Book

I wanted to add a small fabric book to my slow stitching project in which I would write my favorite authors.

I started with a dark blue piece of fabric paired with a bit thin blue fabric. I handstitched the outer edge and turned it right side out. I top stitched the outer edge to close the slot used for turning.

I cut a piece of white cotton for the pages on the inside. Finished it measures 2.75" x 2.25 inches.

I spent quite a bit of time thinking about how to get the words in the book.  I knew I was not stitching them.  I investigated adding sizing to the fabric allow me to hand write the words. Finally, I decide to use freezer paper on the back and a Micron black marker. That worked really well. I then hot ironed the white cotton to set the ink.

I added a small elastic closure on the right hand side and a tiny blue button on the front cover to hold the book closed.

This book was stitched onto my books square for the May slow stitching project I am working on.

Photo - Words and Letters

I created this collage for a photo challenge but I missed the deadline so I'm posting it here anyway.  It is designed with letter tiles and the unwanted letters are darkened with smoky tiles.  I added the tea cup from a graphic on the web.

Dog Treats

We had a fund raising bake sale at work today.  Last night I made dog treats in the shape of dog bones. I made 2 different kinds - peanut butter and the other fruit based.
On the left, I cut a designer paper with doggie words and images with the TH Ornamental die, folded it in half and added a color printed tag.
On the right, I wrapped metal tea tins with designer paper and I added the red label with the ingredient details which bridges the shortage of the DP.
We had a very good sale but doggie treats were not as popular as last year.

Calendar - Inspirational Words

This was an alternative idea to photos.  I found 12 inspirational words and cut them on the Cricut with the Storybook cartridge in black paper.  I selected some subtle scrapbook paper as a background for these great words.  These were quite bit more work than the photo ones.  What do you think? Leave me a comment.

Photo - Word Frame

This is a photography project I've been working on. I wanted to make a gift for my boss who is being transferred. I've been developing an Alphabet Photography library and so I chose photos that spelled his name "FRED". I had the photos printed in black and white and mounted them behind the white mat in the 3x3" openings of the 8"x8" frame. I then made an identical mat out of vellum to lay over the mat board. I stamped several words that described him. I used my CTMH small alphabet on a long clear mount. I used Versafine Ink - Black Onyx and embossed with black detail powder. I'm really happy with how it turned out.

Alphabet Photography - These are pictures of every things that represent letters of the alphabet. It's important to keep contrast in mind to ensure the letter stands out. I don't have pictures for all the letters but I'm happy with my progress. Some letters are really hard to find. It requires that I look at my world from another point of view. Always a good exercise.
