Photo Shoot - Christmas - Cool Snowman

I worked on Christmas photography for cards this year.

This was a fun one.  This was created with free and found objects.

It started with the blown glass snowman I found at the ReUse Center.  I needed an environment for him and it took a few days for me to remember the little house and find it.

It is a small gingerbread house that lights up.  I think IKEA but it is not marked.

The white wood tree pick - I cut the pick to short and put it into a styrofoam block so it would stand.

The tiny bottle brush tree came out of an ornament which I managed to extract with a piece of wire.

The snow is fiberfill batting for quilts.  It is stretched, moved around, fluffed up and patted down as needed.  Added a bit to the chimney. The house and snowman are raised so they don't get lost in the snow. Need enough snow to cover the transition from the the table to the background.

The background is a piece of scrapbook designer paper in navy star night sky.  Perfect.

It is 12x12 designer paper by Creative Imaginations created by Helen Dardik.

I now have a photo that can serve different purposes.  Trimmed to the right size of 4 x 6 it will become a Christmas background for one of the count down calendars. More about that later.  It will need a few words and a star where the numbers can be written At this size it can also be used on a 5x7 A7 photo card when I add a digital greeting.  The shot can also be trimmed to 3.5 x 5 inches to be used on a 4.25x5.5 inch A2 greeting card.  This turned out so well.

Christmas Card Challenge - Aug - Copper/Square

This is my card for the Christmas Card blog challenge.  The challenge this month is Copper and Square.  I ensure that I get all my Christmas cards by November 1st.  Will you join me?

I started with the metallic copper card stock. I cut it with the Sizzix Dove die and Stitched Squares Frame.

I selected a medium purple card.

I created a star background which I printed on vellum, embossed with copper powder and trimmed it to leave a small border.

I placed the square on the angle and adhered it to the vellum and centered the dove in the middle.  I then applied adhesive behind the vellum under the same places and placed it on the card front.

I then selected 4 places to add a tiny copper star  brad to ensure all pieces stay in place, in 2 stars at the top and the 2 stars beside the greeting.

You can check this link to see the cards so far and the first post contains all the challenge. Pick the one that inspires you.   If  make a card leave me a comment.

Nativity Card Order

I received a card order which specified that a nativity be the focal element.  I created 3 cards to allow the client to choose the one she liked the best.

This is one of the cards.  It is my stained glass nativity which I photographed.  I manipulated the image in photo software to create several color options of the nativity.  The image was then added to a greeting layer and printed on photo paper.

Once printed the photo was adhered to a copper card with the black frame printed onto the front.  A gold card stock strip was added over the line between the image and the greeting.

To provide a choice in color as well as style I made this card.

It features the QuicKutz Nativity die cut from silver card stock.  I cut an additional star with the larger of the Memory Box Star of Wonder dies and non shed glitter card stock.  I layered it over the one from the nativity die.

I chose a designer paper by Creative Imaginations - Helen Dardick which provides the star background. I cut the layer to leave a small border on the white card.

I created the greeting with the Stampin Up Festival of Trees Stamp Set. It was punched with the SU Artisan Label punch .  This was adhered to the card front with 3D foam tape.

The card selected will be revealed a little later in the month.
