Watercolor - Birthday themed cards

I worked on some more cards for upcoming birthdays.

I am not choosing to put greetings on my cards these days but the subject matter helps to communicate the sentiment.

I created birthday candles on this one.  I put an odd number of them.  These were penciled in then traced with the black marker then colored in bright colors.

I drew various patterns on the candles.  Some were made with the black marker and others were added once the first wash was dry.

Once the candles were dry then I added some spatter with orange and blue.

The paper is 140lb rough water color paper trimmed to about 4.00 x 5.25 inches.

Mouunted to Tango Tangerine card base with a quarter sheet insert on the inside with a white envelope!

The cards above are based on a similar process.  The one on the left is presents on a Pink Passion card base. The one on the right is balloons on an Elegant Eggplant card base with a wrap of purple crochet thread wrapped around the accent layer and tied to the front.  These will go in the stash for the summer birthdays coming up.

It was a good idea to create watercolor cards this year.

Christmas Card Challenge - May - Red / Sleigh

It's time for a Christmas card.  The challenge was red / sleigh.  I decided I did not want to go with the traditional Santa Sleigh.

After doing an internet search I decided on a vintage Christmas card.  I downloaded a few and finally decided on this one.  It's a bit retro with a red sleigh filled with brightly wrapped gifts and a skinny tree in the back there.  The colors are red, true blue, silver grey and white.  I sized the image to the ratio I wanted and printed 4 per half sheet.  I layered it onto a true blue from the Nautical collection leaving a narrow border.  I then layered it onto a piece of red again leaving a narrow border. I printed the red greeting onto a grey card in the bottom right hand corner.  I added a silver satin ribbon on the left hand side and taped the ends to the inside of the card.  I adhered the sleigh accent to to the top left hand corner with 3D foam tape.

Card - Challenge - Christmas Presents

I made this card for Christmas Cards All Year Round blog challenge. The challenge this month is "Christmas Presents".  I cut the presents with my Cricut and the recently acquired Quilted Christmas cartridge.  I cut the silhouette in Kiwi Kiss then the back in gold card stock. These were glued together.  I selected a Ruby Red card cut to fit a #10 envelope. I created the white layer and color printed the greeting in Kiwi Kiss and Ruby Red.  Trimmed it to size and adhered it to the card.  I added some definition for the bows with a gold gel pen.
